I think I read that he plays both 1 or 2.Very impressive stats, but I don’t know anything about him so is he a pg or a 2? Is there room for he & Wilkins or is this one or the other since we have diallo already?
Presumably just one of them.Very impressive stats, but I don’t know anything about him so is he a pg or a 2? Is there room for he & Wilkins or is this one or the other since we have diallo already?
Cruz Davis is a player
Would we have to install the left handed PG offense for him if he gets minutes at the 1?I think I read that he plays both 1 or 2.
That's why I would rather have Brown. He has a very hard time getting separation and passed his man. In the sec that's a big problem
We just pick and roll and get a big on him.He has a very hard time getting separation and passed his man. In the sec that's a big problem
Yeah. You can always slide Zoom to the 2. Or play with 2 primary ball handlers like Wall/BledsoeWould he come since Zoom committed, I think a lot of these guys will go to where they can get the most playing time.

With a good recruiter it would. We only have Diallo in our backcourt/wing positions. A good recruiter would see Davis, Wilkins, and Diallo all playing together.Cruz seems like the higher percentage 3P shooter, Wilkins perhaps the more explosive scorer/athlete. I'd love to have both, but that probably isn't happening.
The SEC big can stay attached if that dude isn’t getting around Ivy League (or whatever effing league Hofstra is in) defenders. We just pick and roll and get a big on him.
A good coach can scheme him space. I repeat, a good coach lolThe SEC big can stay attached if that dude isn’t getting around Ivy League (or whatever effing league Hofstra is in) defenders.
You literally answered you own question. “A good coach would be finding a way to get this guy corner threes”. That’s fairly hard to do when the guy is the main PG and maybe the coach isn’t good. It he played more off the ball he could get more 3s.I don't really get the appeal of this guy. His shooting efficiency is not great (.562 TS%) despite being an excellent 3P (40%) and FT (83%) shooter with high volume on both. That's a red flag because it means he's taking a lot of 2P shots and missing them. Shooting only 37% on midrange jumpers and only 52% at the rim.

Here's the shot chart. You can tell from this pattern that he's mostly working with the ball in his hands from the lack of corner threes and all of the key and paint attempts. I'm not a fan of this at all. Too much inefficiency for a guy who obviously has 3P shooting talent.

That is just dumb basketball. It's like all of those Cal teams that didn't realize 3 > 2 and would take one step inside the line for a terrible contested grenade. That said, good coaching could improve his efficiency to some degree, but it's not clear how effective he might be working off ball. Some players are off-the-dribble and pull-up rhythm shooters that don't flourish in catch-and-shoot roles where they're required to move without the ball. A good coach would be finding ways to get this guy corner threes -- the most efficient FGA in basketball -- instead of those 20 foot jumpers.
Stokes and Freeman are exactly what is needed at the forward spots. We need forwards.
UKs not a title winning team and won’t be until they get a new coach & ADFor every one of these players, ask yourself one question: Could you see this guy starting for a title-winning team such as Michigan, Duke, UConn, or Florida?
Why not both? Davis a PG Wilkins a 2 guard… Davis would just have to be ok with being a back up.. I want bothI like this kid or the Wilkins kid
He's wasn't the main PG. That was #1 (Edmead) who is also in the portal. It's just bad coaching. That’s fairly hard to do when the guy is the main PG
Davis is a legit CG and would get minutes at both the 1 and 2. Wilkins is the same way. Would give us four legitimate options at PG while also making sure our 2 is a passing threat. Why not both? Davis a PG Wilkins a 2 guard… Davis would just have to be ok with being a back up.. I want both
Any idea who is going after McNeil? All I could find is maybe UNC. I'm with you, if we had a chance at a Brea-type shooter, you gotta go after him. Pope's portal strategy is so confusing to me.I just don't understand why they're sniffing around for these diamond-in-the-rough value proposition project players. There was a report that already linked with them with McNeil who's the Koby Brea of this portal season. If you're Kentucky, you have to go nuclear for that guy or Blackwell. All of the title contenders are gunning for those dudes.
Kentucky, UNC, and LSU (following Wade) are the only ones I've seen. It's been quiet. The criticism I've seen around various analyst media that I agree with is that Pope casts way too wide of a net. There's absolutely no reason to zoom and meet all of these players when you are Kentucky and should be focusing narrowly on the top targets.Any idea who is going after McNeil? How many pros to those teams have in their back courts? For every one of these players, ask yourself one question: Could you see this guy starting for a title-winning team such as Michigan, Duke, UConn, or Florida?
Compare that to a true 3P sniper's shot chart. This is Paul McNeil of NC State, the guy Kentucky should be aggressively pursuing as the off-ball pure shooter. You can almost hear the cha-ching sound in the jpeg.

I get what you're saying, but it's just not that easy. Especially when he'd be defended like the #1 or #2 option on offense.A good coach can scheme him space. I repeat, a good coach lol
Here's hoping he won't beI get what you're saying, but it's just not that easy. Especially when he'd be defended like the #1 or #2 option on offense.
Agreed. But man, we sure have to do a lot of hoping around here. Here's hoping he won't be
Teams absolutely killed us with extended ball pressure/traps early in offense last year because we had no true PG. I like the strategy of having two main PGs but making sure your other guards have the frame and/or ball handling to attack that pressure.Davis is a legit CG and would get minutes at both the 1 and 2. Wilkins is the same way. Would give us four legitimate options at PG while also making sure our 2 is a passing threat.
Honestly, I could see UK pitching 1 & 2 minutes. Probably leaning on SG and relying on them for PG in "break in case of emergency" situations. I think we could pitch that to both these guys... and it would work.
If we get both, that frees Kam to switch to the 3 almost exclusively. We all know how he loves that deep corner 3.
