This kid ain’t coming here to come off the bench, watch his highlights……absolute baller & would be a very big get I think. Could we get him and Wilkins or do you guys feel it would be one or the other??
Feels like one or the other to me. Would be 4 guards. Maybe another less expensive guy who’s a shooter.

For every one of these players, ask yourself one question: Could you see this guy starting for a title-winning team such as Michigan, Duke, UConn, or Florida?
Everyone ignores this because they know it’s not happening! UK’s title days are somewhere in the unknown future, if ever again at all…

UK has shown they will not be a serious contender in the NIL era.

It's interesting to me that we are pursuing guys who are in the top 3 or 4% of portal ranking wise and everyone want to blow them up because they didn't score enough or aren't big enough or whatever shade they can throw.
Some sports writer says a kid is a 5* and we gotta have him or Pope is a failure. The difference in size and speed in a few is still a matter of a second. Or someone is 6'10" and you want a 7' guy because of his ranking.
These are mostly top athletes that we are recruiting.
Let this play out.
Then throw a tantrum. We know you will.

You don;t need 10 guys to be major portal hits to have a championship contender, just 3-4 then fill in around then. And for the most part, it's pretty straightforward to identify who those top players are going to be. It's one thing to miss on those guys but an entirely other thing if you don't even try for them.

How many pros to those teams have in their back courts?
No one thought Cadeau would be a championship pg this time last year.
I don't remember one person on RR wanting him as our PG 1.
Dusty May obviously thought he could be a championship PG when surrounded with elite talent in a good system. Cadeau's metrics are very similar between this Michigan season and the previous one at UNC, so it wasn't like he magically got way better or something. The biggest difference is that he was playing alongside the #1 portal class which included the #1 player and some top 50 guys. Based on the current reporting we have, Pope isn't even targeting any Top 50 guys let alone anyone who could be the #1 overall player.

Idk… he’s got game but he seems like the type who would play 15MPg-20 some nights for Hurley and be really good.

Sure but look at his shot charts and film. He's a project that maybe a good coach can polish up into a shiny contributing piece, but there's no reason for teams like Kentucky to go after these guys before contacting every good player that fits the system and doesn't need to be fixed. Hopefully this is all smoke and mirrors and Dark Pope was actually going after the good players all along. In psychology, they call that wishful thinking.

Wilkins is almost a must get if Davis is gone, wonder if we can lock him up before he leaves unless he’s already gone.
