Thatll be an interesting FA. Arguably the best pass rush DE at 26 years old.

No one will touch him. Domestic abuse is a career killer in the NFL after Ray Rice.

No way...:

Educated guesses from legal experts across the city vary from a day or two to far longer. “Better part of a week,” estimates Richard Boner, a recently retired Mecklenburg judge with more than 25 years on the bench. “(Defense attorney Chris) Fialko and the district attorney are going to be very, very careful.”

All charges dropped as of this morning. Victim didn't show for trial.

Regardless, he'll still be toxic to the touch for any NFL team. That being said, the Cowboys or Raiders will probably sign him.

Agree it is toxic, but big difference in a 28 year old RB and 26 year old DE. Hardy can contribute at a very high level for another 5+ years.

This is crazy to me. Convicted, then he appeals and gets to keep dragging the victim through all of it for another year, she finally has enough and now he is free as though nothing happened. Gotta love the judicial system if you have any money and attorneys. He beats a woman almost to death but all is well now because she doesn't want to relive it over and over.

Of course and why wouldn't you if you were the rich athlete

But, after a conviction, the burden of proof should no longer be on the victim. It allows for this type of thing. There is no reason for him to not offer $50M to make this go away. Much better to do that and have a shot at playing because someone will give him a shot now that he 'doesn't have a conviction'.

Yes, assuming he is playing with a full deck

While he was at OM, a Bear Buddy told me he was sort of "Out There".

Much talent, but.... It's possibly caught up to him, in The League.

All charges dropped, no incriminating video? He'll be in someone's training camp this summer.
I'm going with the complete hot mess Browns.

True Bear@work story here, I had a friend in the journalism/graphic design department who had a class with Hardy back in the day. One time Greg showed up for an exam with massive headphones and began taking his test with the music going pretty loud. After a few minutes he begins nodding his head violently. Then he begins nodding his head so hard the question arises in my friends mind as to whether or not he's having a seizure. He rocked his desk back and forth and fell out of it. Once everyone was looking at him he calmed down and resumed taking the test. Strange guy. He had a stationary business while in college too, and it was supposedly a pretty poor product. The man can rush the passer though.

The burden of proof is not on the victim after a conviction, except I guess for possibly in North Carolina. The newspaper is making it sound like all Hardy had to do was ask for a trial by jury and the original conviction is thrown out and everything starts over with a jury. Maybe North Carolina has some weird system where criminal defendants get to have a bench trial that they can just throw out if they don't like the result of it. But usually, once there is a conviction, the "burden of proof" is definitely on the defendant to get a fact determination overturned (very difficult) or get a new trial b/c of a mistake of law. Unless the the media is just butchering this story and the judge's conviction was thrown out for a reason, this is a procedural quirk that I think is pretty unique to North Carolina.

Prosecutors have been unable to locate Holder to issue her a subpoena, which would have compelled her to testify in the trial. Holder's civil attorney also has refused to assist prosecutors in locating his client.

I think this should be a part of Freeze's recruiting pitch...

#TheNetwork surrounds us always. If you get into trouble while you're here, our #TheNetwork contacts at the Clarion Ledger will sweep it under the rug and, even if it gets reported, they'll loosely tie it to a story about some player from Mississippi State. #TheNetwork's gonna take care of you even after you leave. Look at Greg Hardy... he got convicted of beating his girlfriend, but #TheNetwork was able to make her disappear before his appeals trial. Now, doesn't that sound like the type of brotherhood and fellowship that you'd like to come be a part of? Let's pray together before you answer.
