for what it's worth, Draymond averages 70 touches per game and a whopping 2.8 come in the paint.maybe I need to pay closer attention, though?
Where does he get his 7 rebounds per game? Who does he guard on D? Good Lord. He gets touches at the top because he's a facilitator on offense getting the ball in the high post or top of key to handoff, pass or set picks for Thompson and Curry. It doesn't matter where he gets the ball on offense. Sp you clowns are picking out offensive stats to try to support the ridiculous idea that size doesn't matter in basketball anymore. That's just stupid.
You're absolutely right. Another 20-30lbs would've definitely allowed Heiman to effectively guard a 5-star recruit and NBA first rounder. My apologies.

Draymond is 46th in total rebounding this year, behind notable giants & weight lifters Luca Doncic, Ben Simmons and James Harden. Right again, silly me for suggesting NU should evolve with the rest of the basketball universe & not try to win in the paint like they're early-80s Georgetown.

Boy do I feel foolish.
No. Heiman would have needed 50-60 lbs against Fernando. Even Borchardt got shoved under the bucket. So your point that refs don't allow bigger stronger players to push their way to the bucket anymore is complete BS. You keep picking out smaller perimeter offensive players to try to support your ridiculous premise that size and weight don't matter in basketball any more. When I watch Embid plow over guys or The Greek Freek lower his shoulder and bang his way to the bucket I'm sure that their size has nothing to do with their effectiveness.. Sure lighter guys can be effective from the perimeter if they're quicker than the bigger stronger defender. Good luck when he's backing you down in the paint.

Agreed, what if Jokic was 50lbs lighter. The dude is a beast. I'll take one of those dudes anyday..

In case you haven't noticed, most of Green's time is spent somewhere very near the paint or out setting picks.

Buddy, you're the one saying stuff like the above. I'm just giving you the stats. We'll see today again how much of his time is spent in the paint (SPOILER ALERT: not much).

As for expecting Heiman/Borchardt, considerably lesser skilled players, to be able to guard a 5-star surefire NBA pick simply by adding weight, I don't know what to tell you. There is no scenario in which Fernando vs Heiman/Borchardt isn't a gigantic mismatch. That's why Heiman's bags are packed & Coach Hoiberg is giving his scholarship to someone who can actually play.

Also, please go find where I said anything about the refs.

You're arguing with yourself here, pal. I'm just telling you where all of the advanced metrics and smartest/most successful teams are going. It's also where I believe NU should go to have quick & sustainable success. And it has absolutely nothing to do with putting on weight.

If they can sign the next Patrick Ewing/Joel Embiid/Greek Freak, of course they should. But I'm tired of waiting decades to win.

Nobody said Heiman would be able to guard Fernando regardless of his weight but at least maybe he wouldn't have gotten shoved under the bucket so Fernando could dunk on him repeatedly. The average NBA center weighs over 250. The average 4 weighs over 245. The average SMALL FORWARD weighs 224. The average 2 weighs 210. The average POINT GUARD weighs 190. The Husker's point guard weighted about 155 this past year. He got pummeled. You want light skinny players? Go root for a high school team. I want a team that PHYSICALLY can match up with the B1G. Hell this kid is 6-8 and over 200 and he's going to likely be playing the 2 or at most the 3. I have said repeatedly GIVEN SIMILAR BASKETBALL SKILLS I WILL TAKE THE BIGGER STRONGER GUY EVERY TIME. You seem to want a team full of 170 pounders.

Yep, I agree I'd take the most skilled & biggest, too. I'd also like to hit the lottery.

Here's Daryl Morey talking about the trade-off between size and skill:

I'd rather have skill (which exactly zero of our players last year possessed) over plodding heavyweights.

Like I said, if we can sign the next Greek Freak/Embiid, we absolutely should. The problem, OBVIOUSLY, is that the bigger the player the lesser the ball skills, except in the top 0.5% of athletes on earth.

Meantime, I'm sure there are plenty of games on ESPN Classic you might enjoy featuring big strong men backing other big strong men down in the paint.

Don't have to go to ESPN Classic to see big men backing smaller players down in the NBA. I see it every single game I watch of the NBA. Saw it last night in the playoffs. I see it every single college game too. Last night a defender got TWO shoulders in the chest with the second one knocking him on his *** and the guy he was defending layed it in. No foul. You need to watch some basketball dude.

(gasping, clutching pearls) TWO shoulders?! To the CHEST?! And no FOUL?! My heavens! I've never heard of such savagery in all my years!

Maybe that's the offense we can expect FH to run next year. Lower your shoulder, knock defenders down, lay it in uncontested. It'll work every single time! Brilliant!
