I remember him having a big game in WKU's win over Wisconsin last year.
Surprised to see his season stats were not better, as he looked really good that night.
Sit-out Transfer with 3 years left. Top 100 recruit out of high school.
His stats are strange - the first half of the season, he averaged like 30 minutes/game. Then the last month of the season he barely played at all.
Don't worry, Heiman will show him around there!6'8" 195. somebody show him the weight room.
Does he? Point Guard coming out of high school6'8" 195. somebody show him the weight room.
Doesn't look like he needed it here.Does he? Point Guard coming out of high school

He's a guard. I do agree he needs to put on some weight but he has a full year and a half to do that. Simmer down pal. We got another good one.We using meaningless all star games? If so, guessing we have 15,000+ posters on this board who can dig out their old VHS from their mom’s basement storage as well.
He needs to bulk up more like Roby and/or play outside. Fast and shooters is Hoiberg style so he should fit in.

I couldn't have said it any better. I'm pumped about this commitment.yes, bulk up like *checks stats* zero-time all-conference performer Isaiah Roby

weight is important in basketball. If you don't believe that, you've never played basketball against people who were serious about basketball. That said, Copeland was a skinny guy who was very effective. He got pushed around against stouter forwards in the B1G but he also made some of those same guys look silly on the offensive end with his athleticism. I know we listed Cope at like 225, but I don't believe that weight was accurate. This kid appears to me to be bigger than Cope from his pics. Clearly Hoiberg didn't recruit this kid to play defense on opposing centers. He'll be a good fit with Hoiberg's offense and hopefully Fred finds some bangers who can play big when needed. This is definitely a great get. One of those talents us Huskers are always crossing our fingers to get out of high school and we getting one via transfer. With a red shirt he will still be a sophomore and have a full season under Hoiberg learning his offense and Docs defense.
OMG, the weight thing AGAIN. I get it, some see that 6’8 height and automatically think of him as a power forward. We seem to always get 6’8 to 6’9 PF or stretch centers. He’s a SG or maybe SF. He’s no power forward, no matter how hard you wish it, he’s not a PF. And 6’8 SF are all over the place at UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and teams like that. So it’s common. Think of him similar to Scottie Pippen. With that said, it wouldn’t hurt him to gain a bit of muscle, it never does...but it’s not a huge must for him to play SG or SF. He’s definitely a great talent that we are going to be glad we got down the road.

None of those guys you listed plays the 4 or 5 with the exception of Durant at times and he's a 7 footer. Sure you can be a finesse guy and I made that point about Cope. The problem is trying to play defense and rebound against a stouter guy than you. IF size doesn't matter at all why do the GSWs have Draymond Green? Why did they sign Demarcus Cousins? Why does Kantor have a job etc etc etc? You still need big men, not just tall men. Size still matters.are.... are you watching the NBA, like, literally at all?
weight was important in basketball when the Knicks were going to Eastern Conference Finals and the Pistons were bad boy bullying teams around.
today, not so much. Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and James Harden very much disagree with this take. it's a finesse game played either slashing to the hoop or 20ft from the basket.
Agree he's not a PF or Center although his length could allow him to play the 4 against some matchups. Hell he could play the 5 on D like Cope did at times depending on matchups. That said, I don't think Hoiberg's offense really involves a huge post up game for a big man. My only concern is being able to defend the paint in the B1G and that takes some girth as well as height. Just remember how we got pushed around with Heiman or Cope at the 5. Roby and Borchardt in foul trouble at the same time was a horrible thing. Heck Borchardt got moved a bunch at times and I think he was over 250. There were games where the opposition had good perimeter shooters so we couldn't help down and Borchardt's guy scored at will.Oh I definitely played, I played all sports from elementary all the way up to high school. But this guy is a SG or SF...again like Scottie Pippen. That’s what I think of when they describe what this young man will do. Heres a link to Scottie Pippen and notice his height and weight...6’8 210...and that’s generous. That guy could cover almost any offensive player...even bigs...like no other. 6’8 195 isn’t to much difference to 6’8 210. Not at 6’8 there isn’t anyways...

Again I’d agree with you on the weight deal if he was power forward or stretch center...again this young mans a SG or possibly a SF like Scottie Pippen.
I never once said that skills didn't matter. Not once. The idea though that mass doesn't matter at all in basketball is ludicrous. Especially in the B1G when they let you push and shove to get position and then let you bang your shoulder in to your guy to push him under the bucket, mass matters. Assuming similar athleticism and skills I'll take the heavier guy every day of the week. There's way too many times where being skinny costs you rebounds and points in the paint.Game/ball skills>weight. Totally agree. Size doesn't dominate in today's NBA. Height/length/athletism/skills are a priority. Weight, lol. Jordy Tshimanga was bigger, where did that get him? And it's totally dependent on the player. Talk about painting with broad strokes, Dingle.

Draymond is bigger than 6-6 and the dude is built like a brick **** house. He's listed at 6-7. Kind of exactly makes my point. Give me and extra 30 pounds over an extra 2 inches any day of the week defending the rim and rebounding. Barkley could play in the post too at 6-5 to 6-6 and it was because he weighed 280. Good heavens. Did you watch any of NU's games last year? We got pushed around in the paint constantly and even Borchardt with his bulk didn't hold up at times. It's why he couldn't stay out of foul trouble. It got to the point where when an opposing big caught tthe ball deep on him, he just let them lay it in. I don't know what you're smoking but your nuts if you don't think size matters in the paint especially in the B1G. Even then our skinny assed point guard got abused by guys who outweighed him by 20-30 lbs. What I'm getting from you is that somehow you think that it's better to be skinny and that you can't "run and gun" if you outweigh your opponent. lol.Being locked in to one position dates you even worse than your insistence weight matters. Nobody plays just one position anymore.
When all you do is shoot 3s (which NU should absolutely do), rebounds are less about boxing out in the paint and more about instinct/floor positioning further away from the hoop.
Weight might matter when you're getting shoved around at the local Y. In today's college game, it doesn't. Just look at Virginia. Their biggest guy to play meaningful minutes this season was 6'9", 228lbs.
As for Draymond, LOL! My point exactly. Dude's 6'6" and plays center at the highest level because he's a skilled passer, plays hard as heck on D and creates space on offense even though he can't shoot a lick.
Enes Kantor bounces around team to team, sometimes within the season, because teams don't need him. Blazers picked him off the scrap heap after suffering injuries in-season. Demarcus is one of the most skilled players of any size in the league, and certainly not a traditional post-up big man.
This ain't 1992, bud. Run & gun & run & gun & run & gun some more!
GBR

Averaging 7 rebounds per game at his height in the NBA is no small feat. Gee. I wonder how a guy his size averages 7 rebounds a game? In case you haven't noticed, most of Green's time is spent somewhere very near the paint or out setting picks. Just stop. The idea that size and weight doesn't matter if you shoot 3s is just plain stupid. Go watch the video of Maryland and Fernando abusing us in the paint out there. You do remember Heiman's 3 fouls in 1-1/2 minutes right? Heiman is 7'. He should have been able to guard Fernando right? Weight doesn't help you. Right?Draymond averages less than 7 rebounds/game for his career. He doesn't play center bc he has the size to rebound. Obviously. He plays center bc it makes the offense better (spacing/slashing/passing). Obviously.
I watched every game, NU got pushed around because they were terrible at every position & barely shot 30% from the field. They tried to play 'B1G' basketball, which is inexplicable. Borchardt has no business on the floor, ever.
Make shots, you don't need to rebound. Shoot only 3s/layups/free throws, you don't need to rebound. Double the post, make opposing bigs shoot free throws, you don't need to rebound. Or don't, because last I checked 3 > 2. I'll exchange 3s for post-up 2s all day long over 50+ FG attempts. Math, ever heard of it?
Last year Miles put on a master class in how to get embarrassed/not adjust when you need to. It has nothing to do with size unless you're trying to play 1on1 at every position like Miles did. What a shocker, it didn't work.
Last year's Final Four: UVA (small, skilled, well coached), TTech (small, skilled, well coached), Auburn (very small, skilled, well coached), Mich St (traditional, big, boring, got blown out). I sense a pattern here.........................

You don't have to have a team full of guys with mass but you have to have SOMEBODY who can guard a big in the paint and the more big strong guys you have the better off you usually are.

No kidding, who would want to be like MSU? Only able to get to the Final Four, then losing out on getting to the championship game. Winning the B1G title or at least being in the running every year. Winning or being in the running for the conference tournament championship every year. Ranking in the top 25 every year, often in the top ten or top five. Yep, who would want that?
