Only loss on the season to Iowa 19-18. Should be a great match. Also good to see back as a power in wrestling.
I was curious with the guys weighing in below required weights for Princeton and Rutgers if we might see Shomers down to 157, Joe Smith at 165 ...
Well if he is struggling going 7 minutes at 172lb (and I'd want to see weigh ins for all 4 duals to confirm that) then what would he be like at 165? And Joe looks like a full 174lber.I thought it may have been a function of him pulling more weight. I thought that he was a small 174 pounder. I have watched Jacobe and Geer struggle at their higher weights with AA or round of 12 guys. There is no perfect or easy solution for this team that has lots of talent bunched at the same weights.

I would agree that Geer looks a little thin at 197 but there's no evidence that he (or Jacobe or G) would do better at the lower weight, don't believe any have beat at top 5/10 at the lower weight, yet they've all shown have the ability to wrestle with top guys at the higher weight.
G pinned #7 Lee last year and Karam who was #12 last year. Both were at 141. He wouldn't be pulling down to 141. That is his ideal weight class this year.
He pinned Lee at Scuffle after he was losing to Lee, he lost twice to a guy who didn't make AA. Who'd he beat in last year or current top 5? Personally I think McKenna might be just as tough, if not tougher, than Kolodzik, plus there's Yianni at 141. I think he is capable of beating Kolodiz (especially now that they wrestled once) not so sure about McKenna right now. But bigger issue is he has no rpi at 41 and even though you think that's his weight it's still another issue to spend the season adjusting your style and pace and then dropping 5% weight to wrestle a different pace.G pinned #7 Lee last year and Karam who was #12 last year. And he has beaten #6 (Finesilver from Duke) this year at 149. He hasn't had to make 141 since early November so we really have no idea. He could just as easily make the semis at 149 and the way he competed with Ashnault, who knows? If Boo gets healthy, an excellent wrestler is either going to have to sit or someone has to move to 157 (with no guarantee they can handle it). Maybe we should wait and see if Boo can get (and stay) healthy before we worry too much about it.

But who has he beat at 141?Seeding at 141 would be the major problem for him at this point.
I think you are misremembering G's very strong RS year... He pinned Lee when the score was tied 7-7 (he would have been leading 11-7 had he not gotten the fall).
His only losses last year where to top 5 guys (Eierman, Jack and Heil).
But who has he beat at 141?
Jacobe was an AA on two bad knees last year at the NCAA tournament and was undefeated at 174 this year prior to moving to 184. He had a major decision against the Minnesota 174 pounder who wrestlestat has ranked as 14th.Well if he is struggling going 7 minutes at 172lb (and I'd want to see weigh ins for all 4 duals to confirm that) then what would he be like at 165? Good point on Jacobe. Unfortunately I dont think Joe at 165 (and dont think he could make it) would help anymore than at 74. Itd leave Roger's out and think beating Cenzo might be harder than beating Hall.Jacobe was an AA on two bad knees last year at the NCAA tournament and was undefeated at 174 this year prior to moving to 184. Geer's True freshman year was pretty strong at 184 and he was undefeated and pretty dominant against lesser wrestlers prior to moving up to 197. Neither got the chance to wrestle a real strong contender at the lower weights, but they did not slip up on lessor wrestlers.
Sure Joe is better at 174, but I do not think the team is as good.
