The lack of basketball knowledge being displayed by some of our fans is amazing. Vermont will be a NCAA tourney team and on a neutral court might have beaten UK today. That little guard they had was the best player on the floor.
UK/Cal probably learned more from playing Vermont once than they would have playing five no-name, directional schools.

you can spin it however you want. But I bet the average fan had to be told how good Vermont was by the announcers prior to the game to have any appreciation of what kind of competition UK was playing.

Good luck hearing them also. Maybe dancing man can join that section or better yet, the opposing teams section

We'll drive up and wait till tipofff. You can find a ticket for between 10-20$ to most of the games. But you won't, you'll just keep insulting other people that don't go.

Tix before the game for 10-20 bucks ???? BS , maybe for row. DD where the usher is a billy goat .

Random thoughts First - no fan base is better than ours . Period . Having spent the week before X-mas in Las Vegas with 15K or so of my best friends you just can't say Cat fans don't support their team. Truth is Rupp isn't built to be loud , its a giant place and takes a rather large amount of people getting into the game to make it sound loud ... and watching the game fro the top 1/2 of the upper is pretty much a terrible seat . Been to many arenas where tix in the upper 1/2 don't feel like you are 1/2 mile away . Also why don't they sell the unused student tix for 20 bucks on the day of the game ? I bet they sell every last one of them. Lowers for 20 -- those sell out regardless of who we are playing . Far too many excuses for the students , I do think there is some merit to the " system" of one and done's hurting SOME , I'm an avid fan but need a program to know who is who out there . There is something to be said for players bringing in fans - A). serious freshman who are certain lottery picks , I mean who wouldn't want to watch Bam , D'Aaron and Malik hoop it up , or B) players like Dom and Derek . Ky doesn't have a single player on this years roster similar in talent or long life span of their career at UK, or dare I say it , a true Ky connection.

Tell that to Kansas and duke student sections. Blows ours away.

So does Notre Dame's.

I stand beside my assertion that a big part of it is the lack of "knowing a team" and the constant change of players from year to year. When you have returning players, even as sophomores, such as a Miles Bridges or upperclassmen that contribute such as a Bonsi Colson or Grayson Allen, it does make a difference in student atmosphere and "buy in". Plus the constant "we aren't going to be very good to start the year" from Cal doesn't help a thing to get students excited.

I knew about Vermont last year and was a little surprised to see them when the 2018 schedule came out. Coming as closely to the Champions Classic game vs. KU as it is, I saw it as a so-called "trap game". Thought our young guys might have had their heads fixated on the Jayhawks instead of VU. And that might have been the case Sunday to a lesser extent. But, I still think having a W over them will benefit UK come Selection Sunday. Even though it was only 4 points, it will be seen as a quality win.
I also stand by the thought that playing them was tons better for preparation than beating up on some RPI 250+ chump team.

Essentially you enter the lottery, if you win, you go to memorial and wait until your number is called and you get your tickets. If you aren’t selected to the lottery, you can pick up the remaining tickets the following day.
Yeah those parts are more or less the same as they always were and they are and no sweat. The part that changed is, in the early 90's when you wanted to do all that you only had to show up at the places (lottery raffle, Memorial) at the right time with your student ID and you were golden. But by 2011+ in graduate school, to do the same thing you had to find a not-well-advertised website, create a special user account for it, create or join a ticket-seeking group to proxy for your special ticket-buying account, etc., etc. It was all very cryptic and a pain in the rear. I figured it all out. But it was not easy for me, and I did graduate school on a research assistantship automating xml transcription and doing database design. I'm just saying, would not surprise me one bit to learn there were droves of history, education, biology, etc. majors out there who would be filling that Eruption Zone if they could only figure out how to sign up. Especially if they've made it even more cryptic since I left, which wouldn't surprise me.

Not making excuses for the students, but as mentioned in this thread it is not just them.

I realize those tickets are down low (not as good as sections 32-36 when I was in school), but good. But attendance is down everywhere. UK even had a season ticket offer to any fan earlier this season (upper deck, but still season tickets - that is the first time I ever remember that). They also offered 6-game ticket packages (again, first time I ever remember that). Again, I know upper deck tickets aren't as good, but in past years those were not even available.

I also agree with the point that tickets are done differently now with the lottery. When I was in school in the late 1990s, they use to have the lottery in-person on Sunday mornings. The hardcore fans went and got the best tickets (you know they were going to the games). My final year they changed the lottery to Monday night's, and everyone showed up, and it became harder for the die hard students to get tickets. Over time that COULD have changed the mentality in who entered the lottery, etc.

Plus college students are just different now. I don't understand it. I went to every game my 4 years and wouldn't have dreamed of missing one.

The student section has the appeal of paint drying. I know they do their part, but our student section is a joke compared to other teams. I know a lot of it is because typo holds 24k people but they have zero effect on the opposing team. If anything they need to move it down to help get in the heads of the opposing team. I HATE saying this but something similar to puke would be nice
