Culture Matters

You simply cannot let the inmates run the place. I don't care who the player is. He should be gone. No exceptions. A HC and position coach should demand excellence and if attitude or effort are an issue then kick some arse and get rid of the problem. How can you have any kind of standard with that going on? This, if true, speaks to a larger cultural issue. But at the same time, there has to be communication both ways from the players through the position coaches. Players get down if they know a system will not work. The 3-3-5 sucked ***. Period. And why and how it took Ruhle 3 years to figure that out....well....you wonder.
I disagree. You’re criticizing this kids emotional intelligence as well as Rhules authority based off of a vague comment by Sip. We don’t know the details. We don’t know how it was handled. We don’t know how the kid responded. So you assume nothing was done which is irrational.

If I let employees go every time they made a poor emotional choice in the moment I would be a poor leader. It’s how you handle it and how they respond. If it’s 1 strike you’re out, there’s no coaching and development. If it happens again or is habitual that’s when you know you have a bad egg and you let them go

Love him or hate him I can't imagine that type of behavior flying on a Bill Belichick team. Hell my old high school coach would have sent you to the gulag at light speed for pulling a stunt like that. Hope there's more to it because at face value that is a really bad look.
There was a guy that was a senior I was a junior the coach asked him to go in and he refused I was standing 5 feet away I slowed walking away and the coach just picked someone else

That’s who this dude is … total dork and I won’t even mention how hideous his wife is in this post. “Chasing 3” was his motto in college.

A cosplayer split a locker room bereft of leadership?

Color me shocked

I only posted about this exact thing all season long
"I'll let the players decide," Rhule said. "They'll have to decide their leadership. They can either make it a popularity contest, or they can make it a 'hey, who's really about it.' I hope they make good decisions."

That's harder to do now with the yearly roster turnover

That’s rich coming from the state where sheep are nervous. 😜
That’s literally not a joke about Nebraska ever … lame as usual. Sheep vs your hideous wife? I’m sure that was a toss up for you at some point? But then you had an epiphany …

They were excellent, dedicated, obsessed. So was Tom. Tom had his vices too.
Too bad TO’s greatness did not seem to rub off on those around him when they went out on their own. Solich and Frost didn’t have it.

Contrast that with Nick Saban, who has many assistants that have taken his principles and had amazing success at other programs. This past year the final four teams were all Saban assistants at one time.

You guys have no idea how horrible of a human being this guy is....in the best of times he becomes his facade and can be bearable, but he never really made it over the disgrace of Carolina but was handed 80 million to come to Nebraska while not learning anything from his mistakes. He has been backed into a corner really from day one and his only goal has been to get paid his maximum and not get completely disgraced again so he can get another gig somewhere. He has 100 million coming his way and all he has to do is get fired without cause and maybe blame it on the university, players, local culture.

He is our fourth straight coach to WANT to get fired, get their huge buyout, and get out of town. Say what you want about Cally, he was last coach who actually wanted to be at Nebraska at the end.

Meanwhile - During the regular season, Saban selected different rotating captains for each individual game based on weekly practice performance, preparation, and leadership. Alongside rotating captains, Saban relied on an internal player-led Leadership Council or peer group.

You really love making up alternate universes regarding Husker football. Bill Callahan couldn’t wait to get out of Lincoln, jumped back to the NFL and never looked back. He was a great recruiter, great OL coach, decent play caller and overall aloof head coach. BC and TO as AD were never going to work.

Yes, that’s literally a joke I’ve heard about Nebraska…sorry it wasn’t very original. 🥴

Now, back to watching Iowa’s little league baseball team throttle New Jersey’s team.

So.... Saban got beat by TO 50-10 and 55-14 and the decided this guy might be worth copying? Genius!

Yet our coaches walk by the 5 National Title trophies every morning on the way to work and think "Nah, I'll do it my way." SMH
The only time under Preacher Rhule we had an identity and looked tough were the 7 games he was forced to turn to TO for help

We’ve been the softest team in America outside of that stretch because that’s who Rhule is

Wait - are we saying Rhule wearing the backwards hat was soft??? I hope you don’t share that opinion around Lincoln Hawk!

Hard to build a culture when you're swapping coaches every 3-4 years 🤷‍♂️
No it isn't. Authentic leaders create culture immediately. They take responsibility for their job and clean house and take responsibility for the consequences of cleaning house. Never been easier as evidenced by Indiana.

Following the big 12 championship in Kansas city where we filled the stadium in -10 degree weather he was all in. He was blown away by fan support and really thought, like the rest of us, that 2007 would be special. We were top 10 at one point, had a top 5 recruiting class, and one of the biggest marquee games of the decade at home against USC. Obviously a paper tiger but the collapse came so fast I don't buy he was looking to get out...compare that to Frost, Rhule who were/are just hanging on out of greed, and Bo who openly asked to be fired and publicly **** on fans.

Malzahn turned around Auburn immediately (from 3-9 to 12-2), DeBoer did it at UW (From 4-8 to 11-2) Sonny Dykes at TCU went from 5-7 to 13-2. Cignetti's is unparalleled but quick turnarounds (within 1-3 years) are much easier these days with the portal and transfer rules.
