She will face much tougher defenses in the WNBA. First of all she won't be able to set up in the block 2 feet from the basket. Second, the pace of the W will severely limit her playing time. As for her tremendous success in college, most teams try to play her straight up with one defender and she eats them alive on the block. You stop her at the college level with a double team to deny her the ball - one defender in back and one in front. Why teams (including Iowa) don't do this is beyond comprehension.
Why won’t she be able to set up 2 feet from the basket in the W? Who has the strength to stop her? And if they double her that leaves wide open shooters.

I don't think she can even play on a regular basis overseas. Kinda like Luka kicking butt in College, but not athletic enough for the NBA. Now if Crooks would lose over 100 lbs maybe then.

Luka? You mean the guy on the Celtics?

Because there are centers in the W that can stand their ground and she may not be allowed to bull herself back against them 2 or 3 times before she decides to shoot. There are also some centers than can front her, athletic players, that when they jump, you can actually see a space between their foot and the floor.

Very few players even in the W who will be able to play behind her and stand their ground. Because their is not 1 single player in College that can do it.

Her body type has never been able to make it in the WNBA. That plus the fact that she is "only" 6'3" is going to be a problem. She also has no chance on defense to guard the WNBA posts.

With expansion teams being added, she will most likely make a team, but will not last more than a year or two. (assuming that her knees last that long).

She will continue to dominate college and could make some money overseas, but history tells us that she will not last in the W
It's still something to just make the WNBA given how few spots are available because of the old guard clinging to their contracts. Several great Iowa players have struggled to "make it" in the WNBA and it wasn't entirely because they weren't good enough...............

But you look at someone like Megan Gustafson and her journey just to be a bench player in the WNBA.

That's probably the best Crooks can ask for in a role in the pros. Or better yet, look at what the Sky ask of 6'7" Kamilla Cardoso. She's not this dominant scoring threat despite being one of the tallest players in the league. She's in for rebounding and defense.

Crooks can rebound under the hoop, but it will be hard to hide her on defense in the WNBA. With that said, you compare her ability to finish inside the lane vs a once upon a time media darling Angel Reese, and you can talk yourself into Audi at least landing somewhere in the WNBA.

How long she lasts will merely depend on her circumstances.

I'm sure she'll get drafted and have a shot but I'm skeptical that she will be able to stick.

She won't be able to bully posts in the W with her physicality on offense and other teams will put her in the pick and roll everytime she's on defense.
Heck, they wouldn't even need to.

The WNBA has enough stretch 4s and 5s that Crooks would have to guard beyond the lane, and require shading help or she'll get burned. And a lot of times, teams don't go out of their way to cover up for an individual player's defensive inadequacies.........

I wonder if Crooks is aware of the 3 second defensive call in the lane in the WNBA. lol

If she lost significant weight, would her game be the same? She has good handles but in many cases she simply moves the other players out of their space with her size. If she trimmed down they would/could play her tighter.

Not if the refs stop her bull tactics of backing people under the basket.
When has that ever happened? Our we expecting the refs in the W to be actually making the correct calls once Crooks gets drafted in 2 years? Why would they start then? There are many more 6'5 to 6'8 big athletic posts in the W that will make it rough for her to back them down and many can front her more successfully. Still I stopped underestimating Crooks at this point. She's unique player and more skilled then she gets credit for.

She doesn't really set up 2 feet away. She sets up 5-6 feet away and just backs in until she is 2 feet away, knocking anyone in the way backwards.

Watching her turn around fade away I couldn't help noticing that she received the ball. pushed Hanna off, and then turned around and made the shot before Hanna could recover and get to her to try and block it.
