NY and New Orleans are in different situations than the rest of the country (for now)
I can tell you what we hear from a good friend who is a PA working ICU at a major hospital in NYC; this gal went to hs and college in Lincoln, and is non-political. She reports that her hospital IS over-run with patients, there are not enough staff, there are not enough PPE, and the team has to make decisions on who gets the vents. I know her well enough to believe her assessment of the situation she is facing.
You tell me.
It seems like there are 2 sets of doctors.
Those who are ready to push the apocalypse and want the worst case scenario so they can blame Trump.
And then those who aren't hysterical liberals.

Ask if the gov has released those three thousand vents yet? Never heard whether they got put online.I can tell you what we hear from a good friend who is a PA working ICU at a major hospital in NYC; this gal went to hs and college in Lincoln, and is non-political. Whoever these punks are, and I didn't give them my click, do they talk about the guy in san fran who has spliced the original covid? Turning into the ultimate prophylactic, where wuhan cant enter our cells?
The serum results thus far, or those from china which shows 100% effects, no ventilator needed? Or, the chloroquine results?
We have these tools, possibly no vaccine needed. Plus, those infected this late likely won't be able to reinfect in fall, just months from peak. So, add in herd effect.
He is no politician, finites arent possible for a sound bite in the middle of all this. Sounds like the people asking all the questions need God, not a god with all the answers to their ten second soundbite hopefully answered questions. It's the heralded Dr. Fauci throwing out some "might possible could be maybes" You can click on the link. I haven't posted any Rick Rolls today. Yet.
I looked it up before I replied:No, it was the china ban, look it up.
The muslim ban? There was a seven country ban. Like awhile ago, when wuhan was known as just a area of china.
They'll twist anything![]()
Well, if they can't twist for misunderstandings, then they'll just ignore, truth doesn't matter to them.I looked it up before I replied:

Most of us are getting our stats from the Johns Hopkins coronavirus website - NY state has had 84,000 cases to date, Also, why do you think that they are building tent hospitals in Central Park and brought in the Navy mercy ship?I have seen no evidence of this being accurate. Got a source or two?
My question to you was a real question, hopefully you'll know when its political with me.What pisses me off is that there are several on here who think everyone seems to have some sort of a political agenda. That people are either pushing a Trump agenda, or an anti-Trump agenda. Not everyone on here falls into one of those two categories. Right now, I dont give a crap about Trump....I dont give a crap about Biden or whoever wins the nomination. I just care about the lives affected...especially in my community. I realize that not everyone on here works in healthcare, has a spouse in healthcare etc. But please...give it a break. Not everything is about politics...not everyone has an agenda that is trying to undermine someone/something.
Is the situation in NYC different than in Lincoln? Of course. But that does not diminish what is going on in NYC.This is the same as standing at a farmhouse hit by a tornado and decrying the destruction. When the neighbors in the next section had no damage at all.
Getting more beds, creating triage tents, setting up temp hospitals in civic centers, getting more vents.....will not help unless enough staff is available. Until there is enough PPE .....frontline staff will continue to be in danger. Our friend gets one respirator for the month. ONE. In and out of contaminated rooms. All she can do is change gloves, and try to find a surgical mask to change out over the respirator with every patient. My question to you was a real question, hopefully you'll know when its political with me.
But, if you can, ask your friend if the gov found room for those ventilators, and staff to run them.
Not sure even if more vents show up, they can properly be used, as others from all over are heading to NY to help. Maybe, hopefully, front liners.

As a nurse, I always felt safe taking care of highly contagious patients. I always had the PPE needed, and always followed protocols. Thats the reason we train. Too much BS going on. Daily we hear briefings there are plenty of PPE. But then we hear horror stories from the frontline. Someone is not telling the truth...or trying to spin something.

Great news kaz! Keep your eyes on the prize! Here’s more encouraging news. Dr Stephen Smith, who’s an infectious disease specialist called Hydroxychloroquine a game changer and the beginning of the end for the pandemic.

Hope they can do some more studies. Some of us need to see that data! My family rarely share medical things they read in the paper anymore....they got tired of me asking about the data.....lol.Great news kaz! Keep your eyes on the prize!

Hydroxychloroquine is a game changer and ‘the beginning of the end coronavirus pandemic.”
Evolution starts with mutations. We are staring at a virus that has evolved to infect humans. Has mutated to become more aggressive. I do get what you are saying...my virology teacher thought evolution worked all the way up to primates...but not humans. I think you proved my point. We are one of the last developed nations on earth, along with Iran, Saudi Arabia, maybe Israel who will sacrifice progress to extend our time with simple faith a little longer. You are an educated person who apparently thought this out and has some strange dissonance within, many people will not stand for the dissonance and will ignore the progress that comes with uncompromised science. I hear very little about God when confronted with a virus...the virus kills believers and non-believers based on predictable outcomes. It will kill pastor's and priests, and it has killed arrogant imans who drank holy water full of virus. But we all die and maybe they died knowing they will be in a better place than we...Vaccines are not rooted deeply in the science of evolution. The antigenic drift or mutations within a virus do not equal whole new species of animals being created. Evolution can not be proven. It is a theory. Intelligent design can not be proven. It is a theory and in my case as a scientist I believe it is true. Life is far too complex to have begun in a sea of primordial soup. I logically see no way that evolution explains how that newborn mammal knows to take that first breath. Life is too complex. IMO, both options should be presented to students along with the explanation of why some scientists believe in evolution. Likewise students should be told that intelligent design is supported by the greatest history book ever written (The Bible) and then left at that. That's for their parents to explain.
No, it says that 50,000 will need hospitalization, but available beds are 13000. Only the sickest are being admitted, the rest are being sent home because there are no more beds available.
So "over-run" hospitals arent really happening?

Yea, they will. But this guy is as legit as it gets. So, his findings, though small sample, push the odds so low, that its only anecdotal to the breaking point.Hope they can do some more studies. Understand, much of the mutation theory of the theory of evolution was created early on, and why we saw giant ants threatening mankind in those 50s movies, guess who exploited a little known and greatly misunderstood phenomenon? You are off the deep end.
Clearly there is a disconnect between what government/ Hospital CEOs are saying......and what frontline workers are seeing/dealing with. You are off the deep end.
microevolution is observational and everyone accepts it.Evolution starts with mutations. We are staring at a virus that has evolved to infect humans. Has mutated to become more aggressive. Just avoiding intubation solves a lot of issues.Yea, they will. But this guy is as legit as it gets. So, his findings, though small sample, push the odds so low, that its only anecdotal to the breaking point.
Folks, this indeed may be over.
He gives the drug for five days, even after two days on another group, results were improved, just obviously not like the five day full regimen.
Not one had to be intubated.
Patel led a first-of-its-kind study in 2016 that tested the Sea-Long helmet against an oxygen mask for a group of 83 intensive care patients suffering from acute respiratory distress. The researchers found that the helmet led to superior outcomes: Patients using them required ventilation 18.2 percent of the time, compared to 61.5 percent for the masks, and had a better 90-day survival rate, according to the study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.Just avoiding intubation solves a lot of issues.
Have you guys read about the ventilation helmets that are being used in small samples that have led to less intubation? I need to find that article...
So, the question that no one is asking, is that is it worth it? 7.8 billion people in the world. Total reported COVID-19 deaths to date 47,249. That percentage is infinitesimal. Was $2 trillion worth it? I know I'm going to come off as some insensitive ahole (who is probably going to get bad karma because my parents are high risk for death from CV), but look at the numbers. They don't add up. Let me list some numbers for you, just for the USA. Data from the CDC. Total annual deaths in the US 2,813,503.
The US is only (I know this is going to come as a shock to a lot of you) about 4.25% of the world's population. These global numbers are not even close to any of the major US causes of death. What has this printing of money bought us?
- Heart disease: 647,457
- Cancer: 599,108
- Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
- Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
- Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
- Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
- Diabetes: 83,564
- Influenza and Pneumonia: 55,672
- Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis: 50,633
- Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173
Nobody moves from Nebraska to NYC and is non-political. Sorry.I can tell you what we hear from a good friend who is a PA working ICU at a major hospital in NYC; this gal went to hs and college in Lincoln, and is non-political. So what part of that $$$ are you questioning? Sasse had a good point about this. The feds wanted to add $600 a WEEK to unemployment benefits....that's on top of what the state pays. Usually unemployment is about 50% of wages? So for a worker making $15 an hour= $2640 a month, half would be $1320. Plus $2400 feds. Now the monthly income on unemployment is $3720. How does that make sense,? I think that passed as part of the bill.
