Wife and I in our 70s. Have been SIP for more than two weeks. Been ordering groceries online then picking them up. Unfortunately, only receive about 20% of what we order.

So today, we put on protective masks and gloves and went as as soon as store opened. Got enough of most things to last thru April.

Limited to 1 gallon of milk and 1 loaf of bread. They had no eggs.

Shelves were pretty bare. A manager told me they sold as much yesterday as they normally do in a week. Only saw one other person with a mask.

Live in the Texas panhandle which as of yesterday has only 26 confirmed cases.

Been pulling weeds daily. Down to 5 gallons last two days after 10 gallons the 4 days before that. Also Been working on my tomato seedlings. Will have 100+ plants in my raised beds again this year.

All my wife’s family live in Tennessee so last weekend we all hooked up via FaceTime and talked about what’s going on with everyone. Was a good time so we did it with my family two days later.

Being retired, our financial situation is pretty much unaffected. Feel for all of you who are struggling. Praying you all will come thru this and we can all start refocusing on #9.

Appreciate the thought!! He’ll still be working and I’ll be back next week too, and we are both on 3rd shift, so about the only thing he’s gonna miss out on is going to dinner...I think Mama has got that covered!! He’s a Percussion Music Education major, and he’s missing his Piano Class, and the boy has sausage fingers like his daddy, so I bought him an Electric Keyboard from Guitar Center online...he’s at least got that to practice on now, so he’s happier.
Everybody take care, and as Andy says, “We’ll all get thru this!!”
That's pretty great, all things considered. I'm glad you're both able to work in the meantime even though 3rd shift can be rough. Glad to see you're still in good spirits, brother.

I work from home already so BAU for me...but definitely a lot slower as I am in B2B sales.

Life changes? 3 kids under 7 in the house non stop. Besides my daily drive through the country I am leaving once a week to get groceries for my family of 5 and my parents who are in their 60's...only child so it is on me.

Next time out I am gonna buy a **** load...have no interest in going out as we are getting cases in our county daily.

Plus we are trying to get to a 14 day window of not leaving so my parents can see their grandkids. Hard to do with this many rugrats eating everything in site...and my late night eating after a bourbon...or two.

I’ve lost my income completely, my retirement plan is in the *******, my kids are driving me crazy, my wife is losing her mind. Overall pretty ******.
I'm very, very sorry for your situation - for yours, and the hundreds of thousands of other Americans who are unnecessarily in the situation. I wish there were something I could do to help, but there's really nothing I can do for you or any of the others until November 3, 2020.

I have been praying every day for all of you good people who find youselves in that situation, and I'll continue to do so every day.

Trying to enjoy life.

I have time at home with my wife and children. The weather is beautiful. We spend a lot of time outside.

I called a school teacher friend today and asked, "Do you feel more or less stressed right now?"

His answer: "Less. I don't have to go to work. I get paid. I can do everything I need to do in a small amount of time."

I pray that those who are not hindered by the current crisis will consider those who are suffering.

If the government sends you a big check in April, and you truly don't need it, consider how you can use it to be a blessing to others.

No, this isn't a PSA from a celebrity, but despite the fact that we are all restricted right now, for some this is merely an inconvenience. While others are truly devastated.

I'm mostly staying home. The exceptions are taking the kid and dog for a hike and picking up Clicklist at Kroger. And we've hit the drive thru a few times.

And we're watching a **** load of tv.

I guess this is an odd opportunity to create life long memories for your kids. I hadn't thought about that silver lining.

I’m not a good link provider, but some here should Google the Families First Coronavirus Recovery Act, which also includes FMLA Expansion. Goggle DOL FFCRA.
Law is effective April 1, tomorrow. Part of the 2.2 trillion. Also SBA is offering loans (some forgivable) that can greatly help you if you own a small business. Review, then consult your CPA.
This info may help many in this thread.

I work in a hospital as an RT so my life hasn't changed much. Go to work, go home. The only difference is the single females there are scared to "hang out" with anyone except people who work in the hospital. It makes no sense but it's pretty cool for us. They're super horny. One girl insisted on both of us wearing masks. You can't breath after about 3 minutes lol. I've tried to focus on the positives. Does anyone else work in a hospital where this same thing is happening?

Negatively I found my best friend dead Sunday. Died from an overdose of fentanyl more than likely. This coronavirus means no viewing or funeral, but there is a private gravesite ceremony limited to 10 people. I posted about it in the Paddock.

Pregnant wife. Petrified since they don’t know anything about how it might affect her. Surreal to grocery shop in mask and gloves but I can’t afford to be cavalier.

Having trouble sleeping due to the anxiety. Pay cut 25% and single income household.

Torturous day in day out.

What is the name of the town you live in if you don't mind me asking ? I have a friend who lives in Lockney near Plainview. When this is over i would love to travel and see parts of the west.

I'm WFH and so is my wife. We're lucky to have jobs that allow us to do that. I still don't see her until late in the evening though, since she's a CPA. The deadline has been pushed but not everyone wants to wait (and there are some technical caveats apparently) so it's like a normal busy season for her.

Not much has changed for my wife and i as were are also in our 70's and retired. We live in outside a very small town and go get groceries we need. Have mowed my yard and put out a little garden. Check on my Uncle and Aunt, my Uncle will be 100 in June. For some reason he has things he as not used for year and wants them to run, fixed his lawn mower & chain saw that he will never use. Seems to make him happy and keeps me busy so that is OK.

You guys and gals take care of yourselves.

I just set in front of the television and watch Sean Hannity and Fox and Friends. If it's good enough for the President during a pandemic it's got to be good.

Stuck at home with a wife, 3 teenage boys and 2 pets so about how you’d expect.. could be worse though and count my blessings everyday.

On a side note, one of my biggest questions is and I don’t see it being asked out there when reading articles, but how was China supposedly able to get a hold of this virus where they’ve been in the range of only 81k cases total for the last week with minimal new cases daily when they have like 1.6 billion people in their country with a health system that is no where near what we have?

Whereas we are coming close to 200k total cases in less than 2 months and climbing fast.

Something doesn’t seem right, either China is fudging their numbers completely or what do they know that we don’t to beat this thing?

First, let me say I do not trust the numbers from China. We know for a fact they didn't report asymptomatic cases in their numbers at all, and from my experience never tested those without symptoms so would never know (then again, neither are we). Also, especially early on, cases were vastly under reported or reportedly incorrectly (pneumonia), especially in Wuhan. So let's say the numbers are 200-300,000 in reality. I would consider that a more realistic number.

With that said, let me tell you that you are seriously underestimating the quality of the health system in China. Most hospitals in major cities are new and modern, and most importantly, accessible. Testing was, from the beginning, completely FREE in China. No one avoided testing for fear of going bankrupt. That helped.

China also had one advantage that we did not -- it started there in one specific place. Now, they could have stopped it much earlier and didn't, but once they decided to get to work they KNEW the hotspot and they contained it. The city of Wuhan is still on lock down, as it has been for some 2 months, with people only now being allowed to return (and still not allowed to leave). By comparison, by the time we tried to do something there wasn't a single source. There could have been hundreds or thousands of individuals spreading the disease in countless places all around the country. That makes it much more difficult to contain. It is like skipping the first 20 generations of spread, AND having them jump around the country. It is a much more difficult starting point.

China contained the disease by first locking down the source, and then locking down almost everyone else as well. Even in the city where I live, Shenzhen (a city of 11 million which only ever had about 500 cases), we were more locked down by January 20 than anywhere in the US has ever been locked down. No one could leave the city, everything but supermarkets and pharmacies were closed, each resident could only leave home once per day maximum everyone lives in large apartment buildings so this is easier to enforce), and there were temperature checks everywhere. Any time you entered your building someone checked your temperature. Each day someone went door to door checking every person's temperature. If you had a fever you were removed and quarantined. They controlled how many people could be in a supermarket at one time, and any time you entered a public space your temperature was checked and your personal information recorded. If someone else who was there when you were later was confirmed sick, everyone would have been contacted and tested. If one person in a building was confirmed sick, the entire building was placed on quarantine for 14 days, with no one allowed to leave.

So despite not believing the total number (and no one should believe it), I do believe they have it under control. They did so by having one hot spot rather than dozens of hundreds, and by implementing a lock down unlike anything any city has been willing to do in the US. I do not believe the numbers are something wildly different (such as in the millions). Why? Because I lived in Wuhan for 4 years and knew many hundred people there and am still connected via various social groups and I don't know a single person who actually got the virus, meanwhile I already personally know people in the US who have it.

The path to success for the US was different, and would have looked more like South Korea. We had a warning of several months and should have immediately been stockpiling tests. We weren't, because we decided to stick our fingers in our ears and pray for the best. We could have implemented wide-scale testing immediately (testing almost every citizen if need be) and quarantined all infected individuals. That would have quickly and effectively ended this. We didn't do that,

----End of That---

As for me? Well, when things quieted in Shenzhen in late February and new cases were down to zero, I flew home to Kentucky to visit my mom and be sure she was prepared for what was coming. I flew back through Hong Kong and am now on my 14th day of quarantine in a 10 x 10 box. After midnight I am free to leave, but unfortunately China has closed their borders to all foreigners. So, I am stranded here, unsure when I will ever see my home or my girlfriend again.

I'm sorry that the democrats have ruined you. Unfortunately hard working white Christian people in flyover country like you all in Kentucky that hold the country together is exactly who they hate the most and wanted to bankrupt. That's why they killed small businesses with this pandemic and many of them won't return- they detest you

Good luck Seth, hope you get back home soon.

I really appreciate that, thank you. Tomorrow (when I can finally step outside this tiny room) I am going to go to the China visa center in Hong Kong and beg them to grant me a 30 day humanitarian visa so I can cross the border. We will see. Of course, if I do get to Shenzhen I will immediately be hit with another mandatory 14 day quarantine but hey, at least I would know after that (and a month of solitary confinement) I would finally be home.

I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to work from home for an accounting firm and my wife. The daycare shut down so I have to work and watch a toddler. I honestly don't have a lot to complain about. We have food, water, electricity, and plenty to keep us entertained.

Keep safe out there, everyone.

Hang in there BWO, hope you at least get the stimulus money fairly quick and some income source soon. You may qualify under the covid prevision on expanded UE coverage. Worth checking all potential options.

1.) the government has absolute control over the people and take extreme measures to take care of problems.

2.) I don’t trust anything they report and the videos that creep out of the country paint a terrible picture of the reality there.

The wife is currently unemployed because Denistry isn’t considered essential, so we’ve lost her income, but...home cooking. 13 year old daughter hasn’t been in school for going on 3 weeks now, but she has her iPhone, so I’ve heard her breathing and seen her a couple of times. Me and my 18 year old son are both still working at UPS...apparently we are essential, because now people can order their toilet paper online!! The boy turns 19 next week, so his birthday’s gonna suck, and he’s worried how his semester grades are gonna pan out at UL. I happen to be on vacation this week because it was supposed to be Spring Break...I’m almost out of Bourbon!!!

I feel ya on the 13 year old daughter. Mine is 12 and been out about the same time. iPhone keeps her busy 24/7. Never see her except when she wants food lol.
