Its game time fellas, is anyone nervous? Excited?
Let’s hear it boys! It’s put up or shut up time.
That said it’s just one game.

I am excited and nervous to see how LWE starts the season. Lots of returning starters and high expectations for the Griffins this year.

Go East!

I went to 7th and 8th grade JFL games yesterday against Chatham, had fun, and am planning to see the Rochester-SHG freshman contest Thursday. It’s like a fight card building up to the main event.

I bet it is sounds like it should be a great game. I think the exciting thing is seeing if your team is as good as you are hoping.
Good luck Rocket!

I'm curiously excited. There hasn't been a ton of buzz out of the HC camp - although I am hearing we have picked up 2 JR MC transfers since last season - both look like they will be welcome additions to the team. Last years team was a good mix of SRs and JRs starting, so my expectations are high.

I'm also excited to see HC's sophomores play, as it sounds the highly touted freshman quarterback is the real deal. He looked great in the scrimmage on Friday.

I’m excited to see the 2022 Neuqua team. They have a tough schedule to start out…@Oswego, WWS, St. Mary (MO), Naper North, @Naper Central…and then an easy end the last 4.

This is one of the 3 most talented NV squads the last 15 years (2019 with Gronowski, Larkin, Hoffman, Pastore and 2013 with Mikey Dudek and Joey Rhattigan) and they should have enough to make a deep run. The only the holding them back is scheme and coaching. That is really getting old and I hope they reevaluated things over the winter.

I would honestly give the coaches there a lot of credit. They’ve helped develop their players and have given the right players the opportunity.

they aren’t going to run a “scheme” that doesn’t fit. It all starts at the top and you have a good coach there!

Good luck this year. The Naper North Showdown will be a good one!

I’d argue the development comes from outside the program. The various skill/speed building programs in the area do a wonderful job with that.

Game scheme costs us every year. Last year, in the DVC champ game against NN, we had the ball first and goal on the N 6 yard line with 40 seconds to go before half and two time outs. 2 runs, no time outs, and a wasted opportunity. Didn’t score and we lost in OT. If that’s not coaching and scheme I don’t know what is.

You might also want to give Naper North a little credit for that as well.

no coach, in the history of FB, has ever called a perfect game…lol

agree in part about the outside training.
The best of luck to your boys this season. Be positive and keep your thoughts away from the players. It only creates problems…and you know that.

pls be well

NN deserves all of the credit for how they played in the second half. Great effort and no quit. They earned it for sure.

I know more than a few kids on this team and have supreme confidence in their ability. It should be a fun year. It’s all about them, as it should be.

Going to be another fun season in Villa Park as the Willowbrook Warriors are poised take another run and can hopefully get over the quarterfinal hump. This is a senior class that I have been looking forward to for a while and the pipeline looks strong. If the boys can get out of the box strong and physical the season should be incredible!

More excited I’ve been for football in a long, long time honestly, from the HS level, to CFB to pros I’m so damn ready. Can I get a Rick Flair WOOOOOOO!

Planning to take a trip out to see some local games and scout some of the D1 talent around. A few highlighted games I’m targeting to see live:

Wk 1 - NND @ Willowbrook. WB Watcher - I’m hoping to see a good game and excited to see Willowbrook’s field for first time.

Wk 2 - Batavia @ LWE. Batavia is my non local team I roll with as it’s my MIL’s alma mater. Going to take the trek south to check out a brewery and then see this big time titan clash!

Wk 4 - NN @ NV - So excited to see the talent on these teams including NW bound QB Gray and the D1 WR from NN. NV is my sleeper 8A champion team this year.

Wk 8 - Glenbard East @ Glenbard South. Battle of the Glenbards in U8 play. Really wanting to see Cam Williams and GBS is my wife alma mater, GBE our local team. GO RAMS!

Totally agree but it isn’t always the scheme that beats you, sometimes it’s just a bad matchup. That same scheme beat the team last week. It’s a different team/game each week. Sometimes you have to look at other variables like talent, heart, discipline. It’s not always coaching.
Just saying. 😊

North wasn’t a bad matchup. It was a good one, actually. Sometimes you get a kid who plays on an entirely different level. Aidan Gray did as such that night. He was spectacular. North executed and Neuqua didn’t. It probably helped the Cats get their head on straight for the playoffs.

This is the first season with a full off season of preparation since 2019. There was no 2020....the half cocked 2021 Spring season led right into the 2021 off season after a months break, and two months later it was August again....Lot teams suffered some injuries in that spring that really effected the 2021 fall. I know MC had 3 major ones. It was a very, very long year in 2021 for many teams with the Spring and Fall season. Something I pray never happens again and the classes of 2021 and 2022 will always be held in the highest regards by me. Tough group of young men!

All teams have now had a proper off season now, time to rest, get in the weight room, and properly prepare, I’m expecting a great season. Looking forward to it!

I wonder if this could be the year Berwyn Cicero Morton finally makes the playoffs
No chance. Maximum 3 wins on the schedule. All 3 nonconference games (York, OPRF, RB) are guaranteed losses as are Willowbrook and DGS. Should beat Proviso East. Should probably lose to Hinsdale South. At best, toss ups against Leyden and Addison Trail.

AT was bottom 5 in points allowed in the state last year - I believe PW and PE were both worse. I give Morton a W vs AT, and a toss up vs. Leyden. I also have them at 3-6 for the season.

Maybe but they also have Wheaton North their toughest game of the playoffs. They are a solid 7A team in a 7A conference. The Silver is an 8A conference. Always going to be a challenge for them to matchup with schools from the towns the silver teams are from. LT is one of the largest schools in the state but they struggle year in year out in the Silver.

Not to be disrespectful but why don’t they schedule 3 winnable games vs CPS & Indy schools to build up wins & build confidence & get in the playoffs

Conference rules only allow for 1 true nonconference game. The other two games are mandatory crossovers with the Silver
This is the last year of the 2 mandatory crossovers. Next year and going forward, it is just 1 which will rotate every 2 years. From what I was told, Gold pushed for the change, but it was widely accepted by all the ADs. Good for everyone.

Unfortunately, you do lose the inter-district yearly "rivalry" games - HS vs HC; DGS vs DGN; PW vs PE; WB vs York (not inter-district, but a yearly game between neighbors). On the flip side, I don't think HS has beaten HC since the early 2000s. Not much of a rivalry.

The Home of Six Flag is "Back Up & Open" out North. A Warren Township Ex Player (from last year) lost his life in a terrible car accident while attending Indiana State for football. The current warren football team will be playing with a chip on their shoulders the entire year for this kid. Not that they need any extra incentive this year. Warren will be tough again this year. A few new pieces but same brand of football. Will be interesting to see how the offense does. Warren is a run first ... play action team ... run clock down and play lock down defense. It is not sexy but very effective. I wish all teams great play and safety. Will be nice to be in the stands for another year of High school football ! Home of six flags signing off :)

That’s stupid. That’s like years ago when schools like Hales,St.Joe’s,etc were made to play mandatory games vs other Catholic schools & would get crucified vs Mt Carmel,Loyola,Rice,Rita, etc.Dumb

The entire conference is basically 7/8A except for HS who is 6A if I remember correctly.

Nothing is stopping those schools from scheduling each other as one of their non conference games. I bet DGN and DGS will continue.
Also I bet the Silver will have more losses going into the playoff if they are scheduling competitive games to replace the cupcakes they have feasted on for years.

Althoff used to have a program called, "Go, You Mothers." Taught them about the game, the equipment and drills. (And told them to make use wash their practice and game clothes - "You don't want to be touching that stuff."

They then had a "practice" and then a game of flag. Got AP attention one year.
All.... Sign them up! Ratsy

Hopefully the Silver schools schedule opponents with equal or better historical talent. It’s hard to predict 2 or 3 years down the road, but the conference will get better over time by playing better competition. I’d love to see match-up against schools like Maine South, LWE, Bollingbrook… even 8A CCL teams over time. I think it’ll make the league better.

Glenbard West recently played series with Maine South and Bolingbrook. Hinsdale Central has played Naperville schools. Those are probably the only 2 that can compete year in, year out with the teams you have listed. I am sure some of the schools will find games to test themselves and others will find cupcakes. Not totally convinced some early season matchups will make the league much more competitive when it is followed by 7 weeks of conference play in an underachieving conference. Look at what happens to the Big Ten every year in football and basketball.

I think you guys are doom and gloom too much, the WSC is fine. That said I am glad the crossovers are done (like with the SWS Red). We've played HC and GBW in non conference 4x over the past decade and are 1-3, including HC knocking us off when we were preseason #1. It evens out when I include the DGS games. LWE played OPRF and the Huskies lead that series 2-0. Pretty sure Lyons owns Sandburg in what should be a yearly game. I can't remember how the Lockport DGN series went.

I say all that to say don't let this false narrative of the WSC being bad take hold. The actual results don't support it.

Well said @NapervilleBuck This is the class that went undefeated at frosh and sophomore levels and they have talent at every position. If they're ever going to make a run, this is the year. Top 5 QB and WR in IL and Top RB in DVC. Many other solid receivers.

Easy to make a statement such as the one above UNLESS associated with a team in this lower tier who historically lose virtually every game in every season to members of the other group by multi-touchdown margins with substantial enrollment disparities usually in play.

Nothing is stopping from doing what the former DVC members did and leaving to another conference or starting a new one.

NV is loaded(MM my preseason POY). I also agree with Buck’s comments. If NV had our staff last year they would have rings.
LWE is loaded(hung out with a parent from there this weekend. Super cool).
LA is loaded(their QB is pretty sic too).
Here in Park Ridge we are hoping for 5 wins.

MS4EVER, please let’s try to meet each other at some point this season! I love your “love” for NV!!! Always man your a strong supporter and I PERSONALLY THINK you are very SMART! Haha. My thoughts certainly have focused on this year for a while, having coached many of these boys since kindergarten and also noting they are 23-2 in high school football (14-2 varsity) I’m excited for it to kick off. 17 starters back for a team that “seemed” pretty equal to the task of a talented MS team and certainly “belonged,” I always wonder why not MORE love but honestly who cares about the love right? It’s results not rhetoric!!! Good luck to all!!!!
