I kind of remember all those small schools beating down a lot of bigger ones on a regular basis in basketball.g

That reminds me of the Illini 8.Joliet Catholic beat the daylights out of pretty much all the other schools in football each year with a few exceptions. So that was the demise of the Conference.Joliet Catholic told me though that the other schools would do the same thing to them & Marian Catholic(the public schools felt the same about Marian as they did JC) in all other sports but that was ok.Football is what matters though.

Going to be another fun season in Villa Park as the Willowbrook Warriors are poised take another run and can hopefully get over the quarterfinal hump. This is a senior class that I have been looking forward to for a while and the pipeline looks strong. If the boys can get out of the box strong and physical the season should be incredible!
What does Notre Dame look like for this year?

Willowbrook would of been 4-5 in the silver last year
I don’t think so. The program is on a great run over the last 12 years and for being the second smallest school in a conference of giant schools has proved to be a tough opponent in all the crossovers in that time.

When roster sizes are compared the silver teams are typically 20-30% larger and that depth makes a difference. WB is one of the smallest schools in 7A and has, quizzically, a small roster for a school of 1900 and success on the field. But despite this, they have made great playoff runs (4Qtrs and a Semi) and have lost to the last 5 state champs in those runs. They tend to improve through the year, so how the schedule would have been put together would have weighed in.

So that said, I would like to think it would have been a 5-4 season (or better) and even better prepared for the playoffs.

The Dons have some good size up front on both sides of the ball. The Riccardi twins are small and quick and fun to watch. There is a transfer QB from SI. I have no idea if he will supplant two year starter Vincenzo Riccardi or will he be used elsewhere. Colin Randazzo was a great compliment to the Riccardi’s at fullback and will be a big loss offensively. The lineman lose a few and gain a few. They should be big and physical tackle to tackle.
Defensively, the line will be big and physical. Karl Schmalz DE and Randy Russ LB will lead the defense. The Dons lose more on the defensive side of the ball than on offense. There are some jr and sr’s that saw some time last year in the prep bowl run. Hopefully they can fill in the pieces that left. Looking to get 5 wins will be a challenge but they’ll show up and play a tough physical style of ball every week. Go Dons!!

WB Watcher - bigger question, what do I need to keep in mind regarding food choices at Willowbrook. Anything can’t miss?
The Boosters make a good grilled burger with Montreal Steak seasoning on it. Pizza from Dominick’s as well. I typically get a slice on the way in for the early game and do a burger (or two 😉) before varsity kicks. Gotta support the boosters!
