I think it really comes down to the condition of the access roads to the stadium. If River Road and/or Rt. 18 are flooded, I don't know how you get people to the stadium and the lots. If they are passable, then the rest should be ok and we play

Don’t forget about the trains too. They’re suspended.

One couple from our tailgate crew lives in South Plainfield. They have about 3 feet of water in their house. They were living downstairs while a gut renovation was going on upstairs. From the video they shared, they have lost everything
That’s horrible

Looks like the forecast peak is about 2pm. I don’t think stranded fans is likely. They might make early arrives at the stadium park up on the high side as a precaution though. Talking about stadium workers or whoever else might normally park on the river road side.
was not thibking of flooded parking, but flooded exit routes.. though muddy parking may be a thing... that red shale could dry hard over a dry warm sunny day so mud may not even be an issue

Two scenarios:
1.The game is going to be canceled, not postponed. One or two days later is not going to change the optics of playing the game after devastating floods and turmoil. There’s no other chance for the game to be played this season due to scheduling conflicts.
2. RU is NJ’s team. The game will go on to celebrate our state’s resiliency in the face of turmoil, as long as the roads leading to the stadium are safe.

Just this morning at 6:45 UPenn in Philly canceled all campus operations and classes for the day. And I know New Brunswick was hit worse than Philly.

Not sure why people are discounting the possibility... Obviously there is still a lot of time before the game and we've had plenty of bad storms before... But listening to the scanner now - 18 is flooded in multiple locations in EB, flooding in multiple locations in Highland Park, NB, and Edison, water rescues being made, etc...
Step outside this morning. The game isn't going to be canceled. It's a beautiful fall day.

According to a tweet from RU police department, Route 18 is currently closed in both directions in NB due to flooding. The note was posted around 7 am. 😔

If the roads around the stadium are flooded they'll be better by tomorrow or Saturday. That's the reason the game would get postponed.

Also just heard on Twitter: “State Highway 18 is closed in both directions in the New Brunswick area due to flooding. Please plan an alternative route.”

because only idiots are out driving anywhere right now
Some people have jobs that they have to get to. Like police, firefighters, EMS, medical personnel and other critical services. It is a shame you think that they are idiots.

What is wrong with people that a storm and flooding brings out the worst that they start lashing out and insulting people they don't know and don't know their circumstances?

Be kind and be better.

Very real chance we don't play tonight. Flood waters should recede enough in the next 36 hours so that we can play tomorrow night or sat

What? We live in Monmouth county and just got a normal rain. I woke up to not a single puddle on my 8 acres.
You idiot. But you are a likeable idiot. Not a drop of rain though that chimney. Or my grass where I sprayed the Salt Guard stuff. 👍

Agreed, way too early. Latest Raritan flooding forecast is several feet less than it was for Floyd, which had record flooding on the Raritan. Will still be major flooding, so Johnson Park will likely be under water, but I doubt it makes it to River Road (any flooding there now is from rainfall, not from the river, which hasn't flooded over its banks yet), but then again, I'm not a river flooding expert. Hopefully we'll see some good predictions from the NWS tomorrow morning. Also, even if River Road were closed from river flooding, I'm not sure that means RU football is cancelled, as long as the campus roads and 18 are ok, which they should be by sometime tomorrow morning.

Forecast for flooding for the Raritan increased to just about the same record level seen for Floyd in 1999, at least at Bound Brook, peaking around 1-2 pm, then declining, as per the graphic. Let's hope Bound Brook, in particular, can handle this. I'm guessing this means River Road will be closed for at least the next 24 hours. Not sure about 18 in NB. Most of the road closures in the NB-Pway local area from last night are now open, so I still think we'll have a game tonight. RU still says classes are on starting at 1 pm...

My very good friend (and fellow rabid RU football/hoops fan and ticket mate) who is a firefighter in Hillsborough said they made numerous water rescues last night, but unfortunately couldn't reach two people who died. Tragic.

Always bad there when we get this type of rain- the Millstone and Raritan Rivers meet in that area.
