Just don't let him try to decide if Kobe or Kerry Kittles will have a better career like he did in 1996.Honestly…the best thing for Calipari is to land somewhere as a GM
I think he’d be uniquely suited to that role

LMAO, he won when teams were in a bubble and didn't have to travel or play with fans in attendance. What was the excuse when they barely made the playoffs last year and were bounced 1st round? He won a World Championship with everyone healthy.
This year he has had to deal with a GM that signed Russell Westbrook, traded Rondo and had their best 2 players injured.
You are the crazy one.
I don't think so but it might have involved an advising committee. I remember Pratt saying the first time he met Billy at a practice, he knew it wasn't going to work.Did he have sole responsibility of hiring Cal after the BCG debacle? I thought I heard somewhere that Mike Pratt had his hand in it.
Well I hope like hell Calipari figures it out this season because I can’t see Drew or Musselman taking this job and other than those two no one else intrigues me. Stackhouse woukd never take the job due to his allegiance to the Tarheels but I do like his coaching style.I actually will take Torres stance which is UK fans want to CONTEND/COMPETE for championships every year. You all are loyal to the program and as long as they are doing what it takes and showing the program cares about Kentucky....you'll support them. If UK loses to a team in Elite 8, Final Four it stinks, but you are right there with the program. Now you can't excuse St. Peter's. Missing the Tournament. Ruining all the traditional events/games/outings that Kentucky loves.
I think there are numerous guys who would jump at this job. Hypothetically you open this up, you aren't replacing the Cal from '10-'15 who was fantastic, you are replacing the version who is ducking IU, won't play in Maui or Holiday Tournaments, won't do home/homes, talks of losses as not mattering, has bent the knee to Rick Barnes of all coaches, has not recruited at the level that he once did--but isn't getting guys to stay either. It would be time for someone to come take this job.
Personally, I'd look at a younger guy to grow-but my top young coach was Todd Golden who UF just hired. If I went current top guys, I'd make a run at Scott Drew, Eric Musselman, still not as down on Nate Oats as others, also like Tommy Lloyd but doubt he'd leave Arizona, and I'd have been fine if Kenny Payne got a chance here but he's at U of L so he'd out. For a guy who I'm intrigued by I'll throw a name some would be shocked by mentioning but I like Jerry Stackhouse. Stackhouse is someone I could see winning big at a better program. He's type I like in that he played at highest level and can relate to elite players in being recruited, pressure of blueblood program, trying to get to NBA, etc...but understand if some think that's crazy. Think he's really doing right things to get Vanderbilt competitive and recruiting very well with some guys who are underrated but will be good college players--like the guard Noah Shelby a lot.
They don’t even know what a hollering is. It’s a safe and fair point.NBA players won't listen to his incessant hollering.
He won a championship that everyone else had the same reasonable shot to win, but couldn't.LMAO, he won when teams were in a bubble and didn't have to travel or play with fans in attendance. What was the excuse when they barely made the playoffs last year and were bounced 1st round?
Vogel would be an ignorant hire.
Drew may be more open to it...move a little closer to family and with longtime trusted Assistant Jerome Tang now the HC at Kansas State, he may be open to taking a different job if it's the right one. Can't see Mussleman leaving but he's got massive ego.Well I hope like hell Calipari figures it out this season because I can’t see Drew or Musselman taking this job and other than those two no one else intrigues me. If worse comes to worse we can always bring pitino back LOL
Lol, I can see you didn't watch. If you remember correctly, you will know that was during this little event called covid-19 and there were these little things called protocols in effect. So that meant players that were exposed or sick with anything couldn't play.He won a championship that everyone else had the same reasonable shot to win, but couldn't.
You downplaying that is ignorant, but you're the lord of the contrarian flies, so please continue to do what you do best...
Lloyd already has a signed contract sitting with the Gonzaga AD that he is the next coach after Few retires. If Kentucky can get Lloyd then I would be for it, just don’t know if he would leave Arizona after one year, musselman to me is more likely to happen and I think the fanbase would really get behind him if cal ends up leaving
Understand the hesitancy, but I like the idea of bringing Carolina style offensive basketball and a guy who has played/been at all levels to recruit at a school like this. It helps.@ralphdaltonfan have to disagree with you on Stackhouse. I think that would be a huge mistake. He’s got a bad personality for the position and he’s a UNC guy. He has no loyalties to Kentucky and even if he were successful here which I doubt very seriously, he’d be gone if Hubert Doesn’t work out long term.
Just think it would be a big mistake. And I really want no part of UNC at UK.
That’s exactly what my dad said he said he wouldn’t mind pitino at all but I don’t there is a universe where that ever happens againHe would not be a terrible stop gap option at all. That dude is one of the top 5 coaches of the modern era and arguably the greatest defensive mind the game has ever seen.
But barnhardt would never consider him.
Because LeBron and AD need to GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! and RUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!Name one reason they would want him.
Who is Begok? What does the acrynom stand for. Please, PLEASE--may it be true!!!
LA deserves begok!!!
rr
Do you think he would come to Kentucky before hand if the job does open upLloyd already has a signed contract sitting with the Gonzaga AD that he is the next coach after Few retires.
That would be the stupidest move a college team has ever made. A high school 28 year old coach would do betterThat’s exactly what my dad said he said he wouldn’t mind pitino at all but I don’t there is a universe where that ever happens again
Throw the kitchen sink at musselman.I actually will take Torres stance which is UK fans want to CONTEND/COMPETE for championships every year. Not against it at all, and he's got the ego that would take on challenge...but he's got a damn good thing going right now and Arkansas is throwing the money to help with NIL too.Throw the kitchen sink at musselman.
I’m not saying I agree with it I was joking, I know who I would wantThat would be the stupidest move a college team has ever made. A high school 28 year old coach would do better
He’s got the nba connections. He’s a winner. Hungry like you say. He would explode at UK and I don’t think he would want to be lifer bc once he wins in college I believe he will want another big nba gig. The show he’s created at Arkansas would follow him to Lexington. I read an article recently about his wife not wanting him to go to Walmart with her. She didn’t sound too excited about FayettevilleNot against it at all, and he's got the ego that would take on challenge...but he's got a damn good thing going right now and Arkansas is throwing the money to help with NIL too.
That guy is one of those fans that thinks that no one will want the Kentucky job when Cal leaves. He’s posted that in threads for awhile now. Makes no sense to me but it’s his opinion.Drew may be more open to it...move a little closer to family and with longtime trusted Assistant Jerome Tang now the HC at Kansas State, he may be open to taking a different job if it's the right one. Can't see Mussleman leaving but he's got massive ego.
Never know....I'd doubt it too but Stackhouse really wanted that UNC job....and Roy Williams went to Kansas before back to UNC. I think he's a damn good coach who has chance to be great if he keeps recruiting because he can coach.
As a UK fan I don’t want anyone from UNC or Duke running out program. There are plenty of options that aren’t UNC or duke related.Understand the hesitancy, but I like the idea of bringing Carolina style offensive basketball and a guy who has played/been at all levels to recruit at a school like this. It helps.
But I really wanted Todd Golden to hold off another year or two. So we'll get to see if he's the guy I think he can be--noticed Sean Farnham was on with Goodman this week and mentioned he thought Golden would win a National Championship in the next 6 yrs too. So he's drinking the same kool aid, we'll find out if it's legit or Jim Jones laced.
In the nba all cal has to do it motivate and let the players play. It’s easy money. He doesn’t have to recruit doesn’t have to recalibrate every year. You don’t have to be the best x and o coach to be successful in the nba especially with the Lakers talent.I'm not seeing why the Lakers would want him.
The knock on Cal is that he refuses to adapt to a more modern offense. He's still running what he ran in 2012. No one in the NBA plays like that. And you're telling me the NBA wants THAT guy?
We're struggling to find success because of it. But the NBA wants him anyways? I gotta call BS.
The other thing I’ll say on musselman is Arkansas is definitely a stepping stone for him. I think if it were presented properly he’d pack up and leave immediatelyNot against it at all, and he's got the ego that would take on challenge...but he's got a damn good thing going right now and Arkansas is throwing the money to help with NIL too.
I’m the guy that not only thinks it would be difficult to find a can’t miss type coach but also believes that fans will not give them the proper time to turn things around, just my opinion. That guy is one of those fans that thinks that no one will want the Kentucky job when Cal leaves. He’s posted that in threads for awhile now. Makes no sense to me but it’s his opinion.
I agree he seems exactly like cal in that he likes the attention, he would get double the attention he gets now at KentuckyThe other thing I’ll say on musselman is Arkansas is definitely a stepping stone for him. I think if it were presented properly he’d pack up and leave immediately
The patience part is key I agree with you there that’s why to me Lloyd drew and musselman are the only serious coaches Kentucky should go after, because donavon wright and brad stevens aren’t coming hereI’m the guy that not only thinks it would be difficult to find a can’t miss type coach but also believes that fans will not give them the proper time to turn things around, just my opinion.
