They're ranked 8th and we went toe to toe with for 3 quarters. Carriker says we outplayed them for 2-1/2 qtrs. I think you are undervaluing Wisconsin. I don't see how that Wisconsin game changed anything in our season outllook. We EXPECTED to lose to Wisconsin but IMO we got better offensively against a very good D. IMO, our defense made steps but couldn't stand up to the pounding in that last quarter. Nobody in this league is going to run it like Wisconsin other than maybe OSU.It is not rocket science - a losing record means Riley is gone. And as you saw vs. Wisky.......this team won't get to 6 wins.
Thanks. Did not know that. I thought when he hired originally there were none.Scott Frost has three former Huskers on his staff at UCF: Ryan Held, running backs coach; Greg Austin, offensive line coach; Barrett Ruud, quality control administrator.
No. Some of us just aren't certain that firing Riley is in our football team or university's best interest. You may think you know that it is but there is no way to do a double blind study to determine which route historically was better. You do one or the other and hope for the best. We'll see. I'm tired of the turmoil that was set off when Frank was canned and there is no doubt that while Pelini won games there was turmoil. You apologists are really having to dig deep to find reasons to keep Riley. This is sad, it's so glaring you care about him more than the program.
It's hard to admit it ain't working and let go when you've invested so much into it.No. Some of us just aren't certain that firing Riley is in our football team or university's best interest. You're assuming that I've invested in Riley versus the University that my father graduated from, that I graduated from and that my children graduated from? Don't be a fool. I said it and I meant it. I'm not certain that firing Riley would be the best thing for MY university or it's football team. You're a fool if you think that firing Riley and hiring Frost would be without a doubt better than what we have. Hell we don't even know for sure that Frost would take the job IF it were offered to him. IF it happens, I'll support Frost or the new coach if not Frost, as long as they conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the position. It's hard to admit it ain't working and let go when you've invested so much into it.
I don't blame you. This is how I feel about my Cornhusker football team, which is why it's so hard to let it go with what we are currently seeing and it's downward spiral.
Please point out where I said Frost should be the new head coach. You're assuming that I've invested in Riley versus the University that my father graduated from, that I graduated from and that my children graduated from? After our pic 6 at the start of the third quarter how much time was left? Honest question. My memory is that it was at the start of the third. And wasn't it the very next possession where they drove it down our throats for 93 yards? How is that not then them dominating us for most of the third as well?? Or is my timeline and memory wrong??They're ranked 8th and we went toe to toe with for 3 quarters. Carriker says we outplayed them for 2-1/2 qtrs. I think you are undervaluing Wisconsin. not sure i can stomach another year of this offensive staff.

I hear ya.
And that is exactly why nobody can take you seriously.No. Some of us just aren't certain that firing Riley is in our football team or university's best interest.
Huh? I am a "fire Riley" lean. But it isn't self evident he should be fired. There ARE good arguments for retaining himAnd that is exactly why nobody can take you seriously.

Don't. It's pretty simple. You have very little if any pull in getting the powers that be to pull the trigger. I hear there is an opening running the Athletic Dept., give it a go.
So if he is retained you will either stomach it or go away. Either way it doesn't affect me.
Frost seems to be the name everybody is pining for. You've said that our team was "in a downward spiral" and you've wrongly stated that I'm too invested in Riley to "let go". What the heck does that mean if it doesn't mean that you want Riley fired? So tell me exactly how my posting history says I care more about the coach than the program. IMO, firing coaches willy nilly because of short term results is harmful to our program and university. I've been a Husker fan since the early 60's (that's 1960s not 1860s) and I view the amount of time Riley has had as short term. The team has done some things that give me hope that Riley can get it done without the turmoil of changing coaches because IMO turmoil is in fact harmful to our football program. If you think I care more about the coach than the program you're just plain delusional. Please point out where I said Frost should be the new head coach.
Please point out where I said we should fire Riley now.
And it's obvious by your posting history you care more about the coach than the program.
You fail to answer my two questions above. How about you try just saying that I've never said either of those things, you know, the answer.Frost seems to be the name everybody is pining for. This is my position pretty much to the word, except my kids won't go to NU.You're assuming that I've invested in Riley versus the University that my father graduated from, that I graduated from and that my children graduated from? Exactly, yet he thinks he has some sort of inside info that makes his opinion more valid than others.Your opinion ranks right with ours...."nothing". It's just a forum.

Really? Go ahead.Huh? I am a "fire Riley" lean. But it isn't self evident he should be fired. There ARE good arguments for retaining him
How about 5 millon per year for starters? That's roughly how many dollars per year we would be paying people who no longer work for us IF we were to fire Riley. I'm sure you can write that check. I know we could do it but that isn't wise use of our money IF we don't have to do it.Really? Go ahead.

Carriker also said we had more talentThey're ranked 8th and we went toe to toe with for 3 quarters. Carriker says we outplayed them for 2-1/2 qtrs. I think you are undervaluing Wisconsin. Pennsy said that there are reasons that Riley should be retained. You said go ahead and name them. 5 million dollars extra in payout per year is a pretty good one I think. That's all you got?
"We" aren't writing that check. I am sure there were boosters happy to pay Bo not to coach here and I am sure there are boosters happy to pay Riley and Eichorst not to work here.
The first response you have to why we should't hire a 65 year old coach that lost 7 of his last 12 games at a program that hired him to "win the games that mattered" is money. Telling.
