i'd find it hard to believe he would hire a DC or OC that he hasn't worked with in some fashion in the past.

I can't see him hiring Fran Brown unless other candidates decline.

I actually kind of hope he runs the D for the first few seasons but that's unlikely.

So you think Schiano is only going to hire guys he worked with? People killed Ash for doing the same thing. I would hope that Schiano has enough clout to get higher tiered guys he hasnt worked with to at least listen to him

FYI I really like Brian Wright from Toledo Although I think we need a bigger impact guy
That said keep an eye on Wright he is upwardly moble

Here's another name the WF OC Warren Ruggiero. Been an OC under Clawson since Bowling Green, has been an assistant coach at W&M/Hofstra, went to school at Delaware.

This year total/scoring offense was 13/42, last year 28/34, 2 years ago 17/21. Not looking beyond the last 3 years but just based on that seems like a solid name. I think he calls the plays not Clawson.

I don't know much about him, but wonder if this could be the next best thing to hiring Clawson himself.

Could be but also don't know his salary and he has worked with Clawson for a good amount of time so a relationship like that might be harder to break without a big bump in salary.

Another name came to mind should he be fired at Tulsa. Philip Montgomery their HC. He may want to stay local though if it did happen.

You believe Hafley would leave a co-DC position at the #1 team in the country to be a special teams coach here? Im not sure he leaves to come here as DC

We don’t know what role he actually has there. Sure, he’s “co-DC” but if you’re that in title only you might want to see what other opportunities are there. Someone keeps posting he wants to be back in NJ. Well, there’s only one option here. Also, being ST is no slight. He could be our lead recruiter and maybe get an Asst HC title. I don’t see it as likely but we can’t squeeze all of these guys on the staff unless they’re willing to do other stuff.

At the top of my list for OC is Nunzio Campanile. Did you see what he did for 3 qtrs. against Penn State?
Lets put this in perspective. Ash was here for 3 years and never put up an offense that was as remotely as productive as Coach Nunz Offense that he put together in 6 games with most of our best players redshirted. Nunzio for his handling of the team while he was interim HC deserves the opportunity to be OC. He is a talented young coach and we should not be discouraging that type of talent from our assistants but embracing it. Nunzio is a great coach and deserves the opportunity.

Yes! He kept running the ball on 3rd and longs. Those are give up plays. We did not pick up a yard on any of them. We still could not score. He is a nice supporting cast member, but he is not the name that we need at OC. Have him coach TE's again, and bring him along under somebody else. If we do not get the name we need somebody with a track record that can also recruit would be good.

The Great Mike Franchesca once said that a coach is only as good as his assistants.
I hope GS calls Mike F to get his thoughts since he is the one GD must flip from ND.

I don’t even think that. Remember he almost got fired following the 60 sack debacle.
Actually, he almost didn't...he did take some punches for Greg though.
Flood is a GREAT OL coach but as mentioned, he just can't come back. And no matter how you cut it, he is at the top of the college football food chain at the moment where he is as OL coach, why would he even consider a lateral move to Rutgers?

Could/would Hafley or Nunzio be able to handle specials? I assume so and it’s a good position for either one of them. They could easily transition to DC/OC in a few years when they are ready
Isn’t Hafley already a DC for a team in the playoffs? Why would he come to RU to be special teams coach?

Hafley is going to get a P5 job after this year or next year, he isn't leaving for another coordinator job. The only potential person Greg could get, IMO, from OSU isn't even a position coach yet, who will be a rising star soon, and that is Urban Meyer's son-in-law (QBs or WRs).
