Interesting that the committee matched Michigan State and Davidson. Foster Loyer, a Spartan transfer, is one of Davidson’s better players.

Michigan getting the media darling treatment - got in without even having to go to the First Four.

Jays matched with San Diego State. Hope I’m wrong but I like SDSU in that one.

Iowa got a tough draw - Richmond then most likely Providence. Hawks probably earned a better spot than that. Conversely, Barry Alvarez must have picked the Badgers’ bracket.

Still like Ioway matchup‘s obviously Providence will be the challenge…

I know 12 seed been the biggest upset in tournament action but there is better 12seeds teams I like..

I’m not saying Iowa won’t advance, but I think their draw sucks. Wisconsin practically got a bye to the Sweet 16 and Michigan got a gift bid.

Don't understand how a team that beat a 4 seed 2-0, a 3 seed 1-1, and a 2 seed 1-2, and 3-0 vs another 9 seed ends up with a 9 seed? Numbers might be a slight bit off, but still makes zero sense.

How many Big Ten people are on this committee? No way that Indiana, Michigan, and Rutgers should all have gotten in. Michigan getting a bye is a joke. And Wisconsin getting to play at home.

If it wasn’t for all the touch fouls, all 9 Big Ten teams would make the Elite Eight!

Michigan was a gift, but not surprised by the other bids.

All I’m getting out of this bracket is that conference tournaments for power conferences really dont matter, so why play them?
Iowa crap draw compared to some other big ten teams despite winning the tourney
a&m not getting in, but the big 10 getting 9 teams???
michigan getting in? Wtf? Especially when a team like a&m left out?
Wisky getting a better draw than a ton of teams?
VaTech got a **** draw too. I dont think they should be a 4 seed but cmon.

The big ten is absolutely getting obnoxiously undeserved good treatment overall, tho.

Some big-name blue bloods definitely got the media darling treatment. Texas, Ohio State and Michigan completely crapped the bed down the stretch and still got generous seeds. So did Wisconsin, after losing to Nebraska and bowing out of the Big Ten tourney in their first game. Also don't see how North Carolina earned an 8 seed.

Yeah...Wisconsin got Illinois seed for some reason and Iowa got a great 5 but probably should be a 4.

If they can sneak past the Patriot League champs, the Badgers will either face a team that finished 7th in the Big 12 and lost its last three in a row, or an SEC team that finished in a 5-way tie for 6th place and just fired its coach. Barry must have worked the phones pretty hard this weekend.

NCAA WBB tourney Nebraska (8) vs. Gonzaga (9) in Louisville on Friday night with a possible matchup with top seeded Louisville in Rd2. That's a tough draw.

Six Big Ten teams were invited. The NCAA shifted to 68 teams this year from the previous 64 team field. I thought the Husker women deserved a higher seed (6).

One of the teams I’ll be rooting for is San Fran. One of their players is from the Ukraine. Last I heard, his Mom and Sister had escaped the country. Dad stayed back to fight. Tough situation for a college kid so far from home. Hopefully playing in the tournament gives him some escape.

this year's iowa team is better than last year's, which was an overrated 2.

9 bids is a lot. will 2+ make it past the 2nd weekend? we'll see.

I think iowa has a better shot than most

how was my post promoting violence.

Yup. Blocked.
I made a joke in the Tom Brady thread (which was comedy cold, by the way) and you got your panties in a bunch and chastised me. I did the exact same thing for your post above (yours was comedy bronze, maybe silver) and you got even more upset. Obviously you couldn't make the connection....

Sad, but no hard feelings on my end.

Let's see how the resumes stack up....

Team 1:
Combined (W/L): 17-14
Conference (W/L): 11-9
Conference Rank: 8
Record vs. Quad 1: 5-10
Record vs Quad 2: 3-3

Team 2:
Combined (W/L): 22-11
Conference (W/L): 13-5
Conference Rank: T4
Record vs Quad 1: 1-6
Record vs Quad 2: 2-3

One team made it to the NCAA Tournament. The other didn't. Care to guess? We'll of course Team 2 made it right?!? Finished 4th in the Big Ten in any year gets you in year. 22 wins. 13-5 conference record. Ok...Quad 1 not so great, but still a solid resume.

As I'm sure most of you know by now...Team 1 is 2021-22 Michigan. Team 2 is 2017-18 Nebraska. Still don't think there's a Big Ten bias? Think again.

Every year is different because the relative strength of the field of teams and resumes competing for limited spots can vary from season to season, especially with regard to bubble teams.

Also, your argument is counter-intuitive. If the NCAA Selection Committee has engrained "Big Ten bias" as you claim, they would have elevated Nebraska ahead of a 2018 tourney team with a comparable resume in order to invite the Huskers. I think the 17-18 Nebraska squad was talented enough to make some tourney noise and should have been invited... but I am B10 biased.

I should have articulated better. The Big Ten has bias against Nebraska. When the conference committees get together, they wield power and influence. Those power brokers, which include Benedict Alvarez and Kevin Warren, are not fond of Nebraska. How does that influence decision making? The NCAA Selection Committee members are made up of people. People that are heavily influenced by the decision makers in the P5 offices. Same thing applies for SEC, and all the other major conferences. They talk, and the results speak volumes.

Assuming for the sake of argument that the Selection Committee can be unduly influenced by outside "power brokers", it makes no sense that a Big Ten AD or especially the B10 Commissioner would work to lobby against a member school. For a number of important reasons, The B1G conference, like every other conference, wants to get as many invites as possible.

It would make common sense. But common sense isn't so common in the B10. They want to get as many invites as possible, excluding Nebraska. They couldn't care less if we got in or not. They aren't dumb, especially Kevin Warren....they aren't going to come right out and say it. However, our little stunt to play football, and go outside of the sphere of the B10 hasn't been forgotten. We were the proverbial "red headed stepchild of the B10" even before Covid. Our actions during Covid have only cemented that view. It permeates from the top of the B10, through administration, and especially to B10 covering media. Name one guy who gives us favorable coverage. Joel Klatt? Not a B10 guy. Desmond Howard...hates us. Herbie - does his best to be fair but when the chips our down - he's not going to favorably cover Nebraska.
