Wisconsin before these last 2 years was the team Nebraska fans wanted to emulate when it came to competiveness/wins. They had both 9+ wins per year and they were competitive in important games.
The goal is to get both the wins in addition to being competitive in important games.
2 ways to get there.
Get the wins and take your lumps against good teams until you can compete with them, or be competitive and relentless until you pop the door open, and the wins follow.
Both ways have and can happen.
Pelini had the wins, but wasn't competitive against above average to elite teams.
Frost so far, has not had the wins, but I believe they are much more competitive against better teams right now.
Getting wins while not being competitive and doing this for years is depressing (we all remember that feeling )
Lack of wins but being competitive can be depressing but much more fun to watch and experience.
