Right now, Lane is at the top of my list. At least it wouldn't be boring.Chuck003, if not DA or the others you mentioned, who you got?

Better spent on other things within the department rather than paying off failed coaches that's why. It's funny that so many think Nebraska has an endless supply of money, it's just not being printed by the University. Nebraska can't keep running up a deficit like U.S. government.![]()
JD 2017, the year prior to Walters being hired. They were already producing though?
IMHO Doeren would be a “give up” hire. He has been at NC State 10 years. He would have been somewhere else long before now if he was great. It took him 5 years to beat a ranked opponent. 2-12 vs ranked in his first 5 years. 3-10 in his next 5. Took him 8 years to beat a single top 10 team. This is not a great trajectory. This is not a big game guy.Doeren would be a good hire but I doubt he’ll be the man. O’Brien is the most logical. The shine is off of Aranda when you look closer. IF we don’t hire O’Brien IMO it isn’t because we didn’t offer.
Not only that, a quality coaching staff is by far the most important component on the expense side that's responsible for determining actual results on the field. Continuing to be stupid and financially conservative in an era where the biggest spenders have the most success could be the death of Nebaska ever being a premier program in football again.Nebraska is taking in almost 100M guaranteed every year from the conference. This is not only a record for Nebraska it's probably a record for all CFB...ever.
This is not taking account for ticket sales, donations, and concessions, which will soon in the near future include beer I'm sure.
Nebraska has more money than it ever has and even more projected.
Money is not a concern.
You need to speak to the manager?Good grief. You’ve posted some ****** takes on here, but this one may win the prize as the dumbest.
Playoff affects hiring him. We would maybe have to wait longer than with any other candidate due to that commitment and team he's coaching with their success rate over the years.I can’t see Trev hiring Kiffin but who knows. O’Brien makes the most sense for multiple reasons. Experience in the BIG. No buyout. Success as a head coach. Recruited well under extremely difficult circumstances. Available after the playoff. I also have no doubt that he would be open to keeping Mickey and Busch at least. I think O’Brien would be a great fit.
Just naming O’Brien would give you a huge bump. Everybody knows who he is. He’s involved with Bama’s board. If you keep Mickey and Busch I don’t think it’s a problem any more than other coaches with teams in bowl games. In fact the Pub we would get IMO would totally mitigate his late arrival.Playoff affects hiring him. We really need someone who can get a major jump on the recruiting and portal work. Mickey has a unique advantage here. But might not matter too much since it sounds like he's staying on no matter what.
You’re delusional. He’d be a horrible hireTheir fans are delusional.
He’s a good coach period.You’re delusional. He’d be a horrible hire
