While I like the idea of the Clown's program spiraling if Campbell was hired, how well would Campbell really do at Penn State? They expect to compete for natty's which is why Franklin was fired. But Campbell doesn't have the greatest track record of good coaching decisions. How long would they give him to rebuild? 5 years?

You don’t really rebuild at Penn St. they’re 1 year removed from the semifinals. And should have been in the finals. Their roster is still pretty stacked. If Campbell takes the job ( and I’ve been saying he’s nuts if he doesn’t) he’ll do well there. The guy is not flashy but he’s just a football guy.

When there's a changing of the guard, nothing is guaranteed. Nebraska, USC, Florida St, Michigan...how many examples do you need? All blue blood programs who took a big dip.

Michigan just won a national championship 2 years ago. Florida St is competing with Florida and the U but also gets raided by everyone around the country. Nebraska has a small recruiting base in a small state. I’ll agree that nothing is guaranteed but Penn St is basically the only game in town along the entire East Coast.

Michigan took a dive when they hired Rich Rod. Then they rebuilt.
Florida St took a dive after Jimbo Fisher. Then they rebuilt
Nebraska took a dive after Pelini ...
USC took a dive after John Robinson ...

The point was it's not automatic. You do have to rebuild.

As for Penn St being the only game along the entire East Coast. Isn't there a conference called the Atlantic Coast Conference? Nobody else recruits East and North of Pittsburgh? Even corn field-locked Iowa has 5 East Coast kids on the roster.

Brady Hoke came after Rich Rod. I don't call that a great move. Then Harbaugh came and was on hot seat there until Connor came on board.

Florida State rebuilt? Maybe for 1 year when the CFP dissed them.

Yep. Nothing is automatic, even for the big boys.

Assuming the Campbell to Penn State reports come to fruition, who is next at ISU?

How quickly post bowl game will we have a ST coach announced? Will they have them for portal evals or will it be mid to late January?

I'm gonna guess that shortly after the bowl game, KF promotes Abdul Hodge to ST Coordinator and Tim Lester goes out and gets a new TE coach that he knows well and knows the Shanahan system.
