I need someone to explain to me Coach Pike’s offensive system/philosophy. It appears to consist of a very raw one-dimensional center in the middle standing in the paint surrounded by 4 players who for the most part stay stationary in quadrants around him passing the ball back and forth along a perimeter until the clock runs down and a contested three is hoisted. Alternatively, a player will isolate and try to beat their man usually after too much dribbling while everyone else stares watching. To me it is a “system” as creative and fluid as a boulder. Without Myles and JY around anymore to help create a lock down defense, the offense must be more productive than last year for us to have a winning formula, and unfortunately, its worse.

Magoo….exactly right. Some think NIL-guy ‘earned the right’ to be selfish like that but I completely disagree. It’s a team game and it’s lame for Pike to allow it

Except I don’t think Baker is selfish here and it’s not that Pike “allows” it. Pike actually tells him to do it. Why else would we call time out with the game on the line only to come out and watch Baker pound the ball into the ground and hoist up a low percentage shot at the buzzer. Yes, he’s hit his share of them, and I’m the first to cheer when he does, but it’s an incredibly stupid “play”.
