Didn’t he portal to Tennessee?Could Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?

I don’t see what Smith could say to Coleman that the Tennessee support system isn’t already. Looks as if Coleman is going through a full-blown mental health crisis.Could Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?
Just my opinion...but if Smith could have done that he'd still be here. Chaz has to work through whatever it is he's going through. For one, I'm glad it's not our problem. Best of luck to him though.Could Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?

Regardless of how things played out with him at PSU, I hate to think of any young man (or any person of any age) struggling with their mental health. I do hope things get better for him.I don’t see what Smith could say to Coleman that the Tennessee support system isn’t already. Calm him down how? He's dealing with vertigo, and not showing up. He's also homesick. Penn State is pretty much done with him after he left chasing money. Thank you, mom and dad. It's their issue at this point.Could Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?
"total value"--none of these guys are getting close to the "value" of the dealsIt appears that the story that he got three mil from Tennessee is actually true. Believe it or not, they do not have a GM, which is kind of shocking for an SEC team. This is exactly why you just don’t throw huge amounts of money at potential. Coleman is potential and nothing more at this point, a super athlete playing football who made a few amazing plays and otherwise got pushed around.
Not sure if this is what the poster is referencing, but the news coming out of Vols land is that they paid him a ton of money and he has to show up for any offseason stuff and they aren’t sure he’ll even be with the program much longer.I missed it I guess. What did he say/do? Link? Otherwise it's just talk
Let’s face it. He’s an Ohio kid and apparently the best run program in the country, which is in his home state, obviously didn’t believe that he could contribute for them, or else he’d be wearing Scarlet and Grey. That tells me a lot about him. This is the same player that quit on his team last season, blatantly talked to the Ohio State staff after the game last year, got manhandled by Rutgers, and has not proven that he can be in every day player in this conference. No thank you.
Or Ohio State didn't make the promises others didLet’s face it. He’s an Ohio kid and apparently the best run program in the country, which is in his home state, obviously didn’t believe that he could contribute for them, or else he’d be wearing Scarlet and Grey. That tells me a lot about him.
No thanks.Could Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?
I’d only do that if I saw him make the plays against Big 10 competition that he made against the overmatched non-conference opponents in 2025, which we never saw for several reasons.Or Ohio State didn't make the promises others did
There's no doubt the kid has talent--if he was still here some (not you) would be stating he was the next Abdul Carter and would be a top 5 pick
Yea I don’t think the staff at TN wants a coach from PSU talking to him and frankly we may have dodged a bullet with himCould Terry Smith calm this lad down and is it worthwhile bringing him in for a talk?
They did want him in the portal and all signs pointed that direction, but Tenn came in with that ridiculous $ that not even the Buckeyes could come close to matching. Knowles is taking the heat for this down there. In fact, it would appear that he took the wrong de. Kemajou has elite athleticism but size to play the run and a better body of work last season.Let’s face it. Then it’s shocking that OSU, which seemingly is run by a sovereign wealth fund, couldn’t outspend Tennessee for a player they really wanted. If they really wanted him, they would’ve found a way. I mean, OSU probably has a payroll that exceeds several NFL teams; what’s another million or three to them? They did want him in the portal and all signs pointed that direction, but Tenn came in with that ridiculous $ that not even the Buckeyes could come close to matching. Even OSU has a system that they adhere to, believe it or not. Then it’s shocking that OSU, which seemingly is run by a sovereign wealth fund, couldn’t outspend Tennessee for a player they really wanted. I don’t know anything about the details of these deals. Can you explain in basic terms?"total value"--none of these guys are getting close to the "value" of the deals
The NFL salary cap is way more than 30 to 50 million. It’s about 300 million per year. Josh Allen will make around 50 million in 2026. Ohio State can’t sniff that money.lol at a payroll higher than NFL teams
Good question. For example, Beau's deal included tickets to games for family and friends, they would cover their flights to the game, tickets to other sporting events and events (like concerts), his furnished apartment was covered, they get clothes and other items gifted to the program, he's loaned a vehicle (or given one but i believe Beau was a loan iirc)...they are not getting a check for the amount people claim.I don’t know anything about the details of these deals. So programs can claim X has so much value but does it really...
I obviously was speaking in hyperbole. But it can’t be argued that several college players, and especially QBs, make more per season than they would make on their initial NFL rookie contracts. Also, I stand by my statement that if OSU really wanted this player, they would’ve found a way to get him; there’s a reason why he ended up at Tennessee. The NFL salary cap is way more than 30 to 50 million. Talk about a crash and burn!
Lot of mixed messages on the Tennessee board but most feel it’s just a matter of time. The kid has a lot to figure out now. Good luck to him. Sounds like he needs it
"Former Vols coach" made me question it but it does seem inevitableLot of mixed messages on the Tennessee board but most feel it’s just a matter of time.
Amirite?Lot of mixed messages on the Tennessee board but most feel it’s just a matter of time before Coleman leaves the Vols.
