I mean, that is exactly what CC likes and should like...one on one on the perimeter against a player not used to guarding at 20+ feet...her success rate in that situation is pretty damn good. She failed against Wilson that time, but was still the look I think the Fever will live with and I have a feeling it didn't shake CC's confidence at all.
She also failed because Wilson caught her with her body on the pass attempt. Watch the replay.

She didn't flop as some people, perhaps even you, said she did.

A'ja got the A'ja whistle is what happened, like she did when the play before she crashed into Caitlin. Caitlin didn't play great but got no help from the zebras, either.
That must have been it

The last guard to win MVP was Taurasi in 2009.
She averaged
20.4 pt/g
5.7 rb/g
3.5 a/g
46.1 FG%
55.2 eFG%
2.6 to/g
1.35 a/to

Clark is at
22.5 pt/g
3.9 rb/g
8.4a/g
45.6 FG%
54.9 eFG%
4.6 to/g
1.83 a/to

So shooting was basically a push. Clark is pumping in more points and far more assists. Taurasi had more rebounds and fewer turnovers, but a noticeably worse assist to turnover ratio.

The supposed best PG in league history, Sue Bird, averaged 5.6 assists per game in her career and 11.7 points per game. The “Point Gawd” Chelsea Gray has averaged 5.2 and 12 respectively. Lindsay Whalen averaged 4.9 and 11.5. Teresa Weatherspoon averaged 5.3 and 5. None ever had a single season averaging 20 points or a single season averaging 8 assists, numbers that are both below Clark’s career averages currently.

In her third season, she is so far above any other PG in league history it is insane. And this season, even after the minutes restrictions and injury issues in the first half, is on par or better than the last MVP season for a guard.
I was looking at some of those same numbers but thanks to you for posting 'em.

I was a little bit surprised but Caitlin's rebounding numbers, despite declining this season, are very competitive if not outright superior vs the top guards like Taurasi, Bird, etc. I think C. Williams is the only guard to average more over her career.

You insult me every time you bring up that bitches name. That would be like me going to the LSU or Dream board and bringing Caitlin’s name up constantly. If you love her so damn much then move to their boards. She’s nothing but a selfish want to be.

Another stat I'm starting to see mentioned is a player's NET rating. As of about a week ago the Fever's NET rating w/ CC on the court is 5.3...with her off the floor it is 11.3, and a difference of 6 points puts her near the bottom of the league. That is not a stat I've spent time looking into so not sure if it will or should carry weight, but I've seen it in a few articles about the MVP race so it may be something that is brought up over the next few weeks. I think a lot of these stats are simply saying the same thing multiple ways, but each one may be given a different amount of weight by different voters.
Her NET rating is 22nd - no where near the bottom of the league. In addition, ranked below below Caitlin - some significantly are Chelsea Gray (#27) Jessica Shepard (#31), Rhyne Howard (#33), Paige Buecker (#34), Breanna Stewart (#38), Sonia Citron (#43), and Alyssa Thomas (#63). Four out of five Lynx starter are in the top 13.

I don't think the NET rating always measures the value of a player and I wouldn't rely on it to make a point.

Yeah, the 'point GOD" thing is hilarious. Statistically she couldn't carry Clarks gym bag. When Clark was a senior at Iowa some likened her to being a morphing of Taurasi/Bird into one player. That's basically exactly what we're seeing right now.

I have no idea how much the first third of the season weighs into that, but ANY stat that says the Fever are a better team with the Clark (whose playing the last 15 games) not on the floor is useless drival. Basically there are three kinds of lies. "Lies, damned lies, and statistics".

I have a hard time believing that also. Makes no sense that the team is better off without her on the court.

She's committed to Unrivaled, which last year started on Jan 5th....so her overseas availability is pretty limited,
I think Unrivaled is on borrowed time. Between the number of stars getting injured and missing parts of the season, and the W's ability to pay players more. I'll bet the W will start putting clauses in contracts for the top tier players that require they play only in the league. Add to that the league going to 50+ games. If Unrivaled survives it will be with lower level players and it will get even less attention then it does now. Its a side show.

Just wait. I'm sure he'll be back to tell you that Dallas is better playing without PB, or the Liberty are better without Stewie.....

Actual TV viewers for Unrivaled were extremely low, yet some will brag that two arenas were sold out. I think they are on borrowed time as well.

"Unrivaled Basketball League has achieved notable viewership milestones, particularly during its inaugural season. The league averaged 221,000 viewers on TNT and truTV throughout the season, including the playoffs. However, despite these initial successes, the second season has seen a significant decline in viewership, raising concerns about the league's sustainability.

In terms of attendance, Unrivaled has broken records for professional women's basketball, indicating strong in-person engagement even as TV ratings have dipped. This contrast highlights the complexities of audience engagement in sports today, where live attendance can thrive despite lower television viewership."

The folks who put up the cash for this must have money to burn, but if TV viewership remains low, then how can there be a significant ROI?

Your never going to get an honest answer from him unless it fits his narrative...

Except I already did answer it,

You must be in your late 60s, right? Is this what senility/dementia is like? Just a complete disregard for anything other than what you fixate on?

Gotta be hard counting down the days like that.

Maybe getting stats wasn't their goal.
Maybe winning is/was?
Maybe being the kind of teammate others want to play with is/was?

You will have to take it up with the WNBA, it was from an article on their website.

Unrivaled is trying to succeed w/ out Aja and CC, which seems like a huge undertaking, but even if she joined I think the most ardent CC fans would be like, "Why am I watching this again?" An enormous part of CC's popularity is due to making basketball fun and more like the men's (Pete Maravich!) for many people, and 3x3 is never going to be anything like "real basketball" for some viewers.

And your point on the length of season is spot on.
Let's say CC played Unrivaled this season:
She'd have to start getting ready in December of 2025 for a league that ran from Jan 5th - March 4th.
MAYBE take a week or 2 off before starting to get ready for the WNBA season, first pre-season game was April 25th
She doesn't get a true break at All Star time...doesn't get a break during FIBA time...and the WNBA season can last up until the end of October.
So a player could end up w/ just 6-7 weeks off between seasons to get any work/rest in before doing it all again...and per the CBA next year's schedule can last until November 21st, allowing even less time between seasons.

I think the plan all along was to get the WNBA to invest in the league and then get them to outright buy it out and use it as a training/practice tool for younger players, but I think the W is just going to continue to squeeze them out w/ an expanded schedule and increased salaries.

Yes, Aja makes her teammates MUCH better.

Who impacts the league in a more positive and productive way? Be honest.

Your never going to get an honest answer from him unless it fits his narrative...

Speaking of answering things, senility and dementia....

"Legend," you somehow have forgotten to post your list of things Caitlin gets away with that no one else in the league does. We all have been waiting for your list since Sunday, August 9!!!

You should post that list NOW before you forget again!

I am confident that a poster like yourself who is never wrong (in your senile, mentally ill mind) & who is always correcting everyone will have that LIST posted shortly!!!

In case people forgot, "Legend" posted what follows on Aug 9; @huntinghawk and @Hawk48 then nailed it when they said "Legend" is the biggest clown on these forums. Can you imagine subscribing to Hawkeye Report and paying to interact with "Legend" in the Lounge? LOL

She [Caitlin Clark] gets technicals that no one else in the league would get.

She [Caitlin Clark] also gets away with things no one else in the league would get away with.

Like what? Are you being serious

Go easy there on the "Sultan of Spin" lol.

Things as in plural? Go ahead and list them for those of us not as gifted and smart as you.

Like WHAT exactly? This should be entertaining......

Whose the bigger clown? Legend or BigZ? They really believe she's treated fair.
