And here is an entirely different discussion I had once w/ some NBA analytic dorks...not CC-specific, but we will use her and the Fever as they are the ones we are most familiar with and her high usage rate would bring this into play.

CC averages 8+ APG....how many of those assists are directly because of her, and how many are offense/play based and how many are just the result of basketball being played?

It is a small sample size, but the Fever this year are averaging 20.6 APG.
In the 4 games that CC missed, they are averaging 20 APG.

So they would say CC is "worth" +.6 APG even though she averages over 8 per game herself.

And on the flip side...I don't have the stats in front of me right now, but I believe the Fever average 2+ more TOs per game w/ out CC than they do with her this season, so if someone is going to say she's worth +.6 APG then they would also need to credit her w/ the decrease in TOs, which would be a much higher % than most would think.

Thoughts?

Now how many points per game do they average with her on the floor vs not, just based on how much gravity she has opening the floor up for other players?

If we were talking about deacon hill turning it over wayyyy too much most of you guys would be fine with it. I love Mitchell getting in the face of that chick, that one was worth the T
Did Hill account for 40% of the teams offense? Comparing apples to chainsaws again aren't you.....

Actually she's only .1 assist higher/GM then Thomas , so no. BUT she's still a much better scorer and her gravity is much bigger then Thomas. Pretty sure Thomas has never been top three scorer in the league while leading the W in assists..
Thomas racks up a lot of her assists off their dribble handoff offense. It still technically counts as an assist if the "pass" leads to a basket.

I have a problem with people getting overheated in Canada. But then again, they probably do not have the same air conditioning HVAC we have here in Austin, TX.

Nobody has ever refuted this.
No, but players around the rim should be very efficient scorers, not the worst. On the other hand, playermakers with very high levels of assists are often among the highest in turnovers. It’s a function of the number of passes thrown in traffic, which is why ATO is a more meaningful statistic to compare these types of players. This is the case with Clark, who I am sure will agree turns it over too often and should have her ATO over 2 vs 1.77 where it is today. She needs to get TO's down to around 4 per game to achieve that metric. As a comparison, Alyssa Thomas does dish out the same number of assists but has a much better ATO of 2.27 making her a much more efficient playmaker.

Tommy's obsession, predictably, continues.

Seriously, Tommy, get help. Get medicated or increase the dose. Go back to the Clemson Off Topic board to get the mental support you really need (hopefully it is still free for you).

It's no wonder Kakert made HROT subscriber only; it's because of the the obsessive mental cases like you, Tommy!

Now you are the Clemson publisher's problem.

Fudd and James both missed practice again today...pretty unlikely they suit up tomorrow against the Fever.

*Disclaimer: So many of these sites out there and I have zero idea if this person is credible but it seemed decently written so decided to post it anyway.

Does anyone know exactly what set Kelsey off? She wouldn't blow up like that just because of some physical defense. Mabrey must've thrown in something extra. She would likely have gotten into a scuffle with plenty of other players, but when KM blew up Mabrey immediately backed off.
Mabrey scratched Kelsey’s right arm. As she was walking away you could see Kelsey inspecting her arm.
