And here is an entirely different discussion I had once w/ some NBA analytic dorks...not CC-specific, but we will use her and the Fever as they are the ones we are most familiar with and her high usage rate would bring this into play.
CC averages 8+ APG....how many of those assists are directly because of her, and how many are offense/play based and how many are just the result of basketball being played?
It is a small sample size, but the Fever this year are averaging 20.6 APG.
In the 4 games that CC missed, they are averaging 20 APG.
So they would say CC is "worth" +.6 APG even though she averages over 8 per game herself.
And on the flip side...I don't have the stats in front of me right now, but I believe the Fever average 2+ more TOs per game w/ out CC than they do with her this season, so if someone is going to say she's worth +.6 APG then they would also need to credit her w/ the decrease in TOs, which would be a much higher % than most would think.
Thoughts?
Now how many points per game do they average with her on the floor vs not, just based on how much gravity she has opening the floor up for other players? And here is an entirely different discussion I had once w/ some NBA analytic dorks...not CC-specific, but we will use her and the Fever as they are the ones we are most familiar with and her high usage rate would bring this into play.
