Maybe I'm trying so hard not to be a homer that I've become biased in the other direction but l I think Miles is almost a lock for 1st team and CC is the one trying to play her way on.

Fwiw if she keeps playing at the level she is I think she'll make it.

First team
G. Olivia Miles (lock)
G. Kelsey Mitchell (should be a lock)
Open
F. Breanna Stewart (not really sure who the other forward would be)
F. A'ja Wilson (lock)

I'm not sure what the WNBA's rules are about voting and if that open spot is mandated to be a Guard/Forward or if it's up to voter discretion.

But if Guards are eligible I think it will come down to her or Paige.
If players decide, Clark won’t make Honorable Mention.

The don't seem to be held to position specific selections:
In 2024 CC was the only G to make it on the 1st team
In 2023 no guards made the 1st team
And now it is a guard driven league with CC, Paige, Miles, KM, Plum all putting up great #s

I think the 1st team as of now would be:
Aja (1st in scoring, 3rd in rebounding, defensive force)
Miles (9th in scoring, 6th in assists, best player on best team)
KM (2nd in scoring, 4th in 3PT FG%, on most popular team)
CC (4th in scoring, T1st in assists, most popular player in league)

Like you I have that 5th spot open, with quite a few options.
Plum has missed a lot of games but is 3rd in scoring
Stewie is Stewie...21.3, 8.4, 3.2...47 FG%
Shepard is at 14.2 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 5.2 APG shooting 59% from field.
Paige is at 20.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 5.8 APG, 51% FG, 39% 3FG
In a typical year I think Boston gets a fair amount of votes...and you have to wonder if the KM-CC-AB trio takes some votes from each other.

Timpson did a solid job defensively tonight. Still hesitates a little bit after receiving a pass from Caitlin and it costs her opportunities to finish.

She doesn't quite have that tenacity and edge that Rodman played with, and thankfully, lacks the theatrics and drama as well.
AB and Mitchell have trouble finishing after a CC pass at times too. 😖

I still don't understand her saying she didn't see it in real time. What was she watching?
I’m guessing she meant that she didn’t get to see multiple replays from different angles during the game and got asked about it in the post-game conference before seeing them. Hence the defense of Carrington.

But she wasn’t really clear in saying that, so I’m putting words into her mouth by guessing.

Yes, those girls should catch every pass from CC no matter what and make sure she gets an assist on every pass. I mean neither is carrying their weight at all.
It just seems a little off. Watch carefully. You'll see times when they receive passes while in a good position to score. But, they have difficulty finishing, and in some cases they will pass to someone else for a score. Other times, They mishandle easy passes that should lead to a finish with a shot attempt. There are other times that they will not even attempt to shoot, but immediately look for someone to pass to. And, finally, there are times when a player receives a pass from her and they have a desperate look to them, even as Clark is being closely guarded, and lately, double-teamed. Look closely to recognize the subtlety of these actions.

Her, looking directly at the play, as still photography and video replays confirm, and then denying that she saw it, is the rub.

CC would only get one shot a game if she only shot when she was open.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. She’s getting 10 assists almost every game now. People aren’t going to catch every pass she throws and score. They just aren’t. While we make fun of the league there are some darn good and athletic defenders guarding her. Her and Mitchell plus Boston play incredibly off of each other. CC is by far the most creative passer in the legit she also throws a lot of tough passes to teammates she shouldn’t. You can’t expect these ladies to catch every pass and score. Because it also doesn’t happen in the NBA either.

I agree with much of what you're saying, but many, including myself, feel that she could have many more assists if the others could catch and finish. We're at the point where folks are saying things like, "Well, there goes another blown assist for Clark" That's just reality. And many shots aren't that difficult.

And I call BS on her for saying that.

Is she also saying she's not smart enough to look up and see the replay of the play while the officials review the play?

Maybe she is that dumb and not lying.

I think the expectation is to catch the good passes and make the easy shots, that’s not asking too much. The missed layups happen way more in the WNBA than in the NBA.

Again, now that she’s playing more minutes she’s getting 10 a game. The men don’t miss as many layups because they’re playing above the rim. Nobody plays above the rim or dunks in the W.

You are trying too hard. CC leads her in PPG and APG. We still have games to go but if CC keeps on, the MVP race is Wilson, CC and Mitchell. Give Miles the rookie of the year.

Ten missed assist opportunities from NY game.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts in post #12,096. I saw 8 missed opportunities, but we get the picture. BTW, Carrington's at it again. Trifecta tonight vs GS. She gave two players a big hand and had a fan ejected. Can someone tell her to clock out and take some vacation time?

Very true. Still I had to chuckle when they were talking about Mitchell being in the league 9 or 10 years now, BUT it was just from 2024-26 That she really took off. Hmmm.. I wonder what happened two season ago until now that let her have her three best years in a row, and getting better. Obviously Mitchell's put in the work as she has all the way back to OSU, but what happened in 2024 that opened the floor up for her. Hmmm..
Maybe legend knows since it has nothing to do with CC.

Yes, everything good that has ever happened to anyone is thanks to CC.

KM was an AS the season before CC arrived, and I know you didn't follow the WNBA then, but she was s player who was continually talked about as getting better and better.

Why, when people talk about CC's assists do we not thank and honor Mitchell for her scoring prowess and efficiency?
If they don't sign her I would put a large wager with you on her numbers dropping next year. I know you won't take it.

There needs to be a rule against long nails in the WNBA. Either this is a fashion league for influencers, or it is a sports league where player safety is considered.

Not only is the league letting her get away with this sh*t, they won't even make her trim her fingernails. How can the WNBA allow players on the court with essentially claws. If someone is blinded, the WNBA is going to get sued and lose its ***.

True, but if it weren't for Caitlin, Kelsey would be getting double teamed the whole game. CC absorbs all the incoming heat.
