My next post was going to be Caitlin had a 26 and 11 game and no one is talking about it. It's true but there's just so much bullcrap like this:



So no call on Cloud for the bump on Caitlin, a tech called on Caitlin for accidental bump on ref resulting from the Cloud bump, and then another Cloud bump, this time the intentional bump on the same ref and a no call.

This league is one bumpy ride.

A cynic might observe but being Black sure can help smooth that ride.

The "demonstratively" is exactly my point. She makes it very much known to everyone when she is upset. Simply phasing out the outspread arms would help.

Several channels grifted off that narrative for nearly a month. It wasn't just Whitlock. And of course he's not wrong, because we've complained about it since she was at Iowa. The difference is we aren't trying to be sensationalist and profit off some hate parade flipping narratives and painting her as the villain of the WNBA now for her whining to the refs...............

Most people don't want adult trans athletes participating in meaningful competitions. Before puberty gets more complicated since sports can be very helpful for kids, especially ones that are bullied and excluded to the point that they are very likely to commit suicide.

I don't believe that pushing for your transgender child to participate in women's sports is going to relieve her of bullying and the accompanying mental anguish. On the contrary.

Millions upon millions of kids, straight, gay, and otherwise go through life perfectly fine without ever or barely participating in organized sports. Even if I didn't believe that it was fundamentally unfair for transgender females to compete against biological females in strength related sporting events, the last direction I'd be pushing for my transgender daughter is towards anything that is going to subject her to more scrutiny, bias, and degradation. If it's that important to their mental and physical well being, then they can still compete against the boys. Last I checked, people aren't losing their shat over that.

That's a valid point now that the issue of transgender participation has turned into a political football to the point that participation at any level will get noticed and cause freakouts.

I don't think it's as simple as putting them on a team with the boys. They don't see themselves as boys, and the boys are likely to bully and reject them. I'd say youth participation should be decided on a case by case basis within a community, since the whole point is for these kids to be accepted and welcomed in their community.

Sarah McBride, the transgender representative from Delaware has a surprisingly balanced view of trans issues. I liked her convo with Ezra Klein.

Haven't listened to Chicago radio since I was in my teens there. And my ears were glued to WLS before they f---ed it up by turning it into talk radio. Can Chicago media even be believed?

I loved watching her play for the Hawks, she's a generational talent. Not a big WNBA fan (or women's hoops fan in general for that matter) but I do see/hear/read enough to have a feel for what's going on.

She handles herself very well off the court, seems very mature and professional. On the court, not so much.

ok here is my deal: I just came to this league to watch CC make threes. To her credit, she did a fairly good job of it last game. that "step to the left and bury one from way far away", that's pretty cool.

ok, but it's wayyyy wayyy beyond that now. this thing has gotten way off in the weeds. drama. national news. racism. anti gay. anti straight, anti white. And I like this drama more now!!! Sophie is my hero.

I am watching for the drama. love or hate Whitlock, but he pointed out something that I was thinking but never said. He said that CC has some sort of mental issues. watch her body language during the pressers at the end of the game. she is literally a week ago hitting her head on the mic in front of her. when white is talking last game, she is clearly freaking out a little. Whitlock says she is on the "spectrum", I don't know about that, the spectrum is wide now.

what I did notice in college with CC and now the pros, she complains every foul or every non-foul. Now, I do a see a double standard and these refs are blind. but it is her reaction to it, with the "what??!" arms in the position with the hands out facing to the sky. she stands there and does that while the play goes by. personally, this annoys me and I bet it annoys the officials and dang sure annoys the other team. but that part may be good. but she "gets inside her own head". looks like she distracts herself from playing. I even have seen her run up the tunnel and out of the arena. I have seen her even stand there throwing a tantrum while the other player burns right down to other end and scores.

I don't really mind the refs throwing out T's in these situations. the one that got overturned may have been just a casual brush up on the official. maybe she said nothing. but these officials are used to her throwing fits. and they kind of have a right to say something about it, every now and then. yes sometimes they do no calls when they should call it , they are blind. but CC will get another T soon and that is guaranteed. maybe it's payback for past behavior. a cumulative effect. I dunno which, but at some point, CC needs to not act like that. maybe it is in her nature and she cannot stop.

she whined all through college and all throughout the pros. she did and does. maybe not on the one play that got her the T. but she does whine and act bratty. I don't think anyone would dispute that. sometimes she has a right to do it . but she does do it and it's not a good look. on TV especially. and sometimes she stands there complaining while the play is going on at the other end of the court. she looks bratty.
