So, is Wincraft the only place that the WNBA does business with? Could they have included her if they perhaps searched for another company that could? Bulls--t.

A company that has the rights to make WNBA merch wanted to sell a 30th Anniversary poster. They didn't have the rights to CC's image so she wasn't on the poster.

They can apply the Core designator to her up to 2 times, I believe.

Core Players

You’ve probably heard of the term “Coring a Player,” think of it almost as the WNBA’s version of a franchise tag. An organization can, at maximum, have one veteran free agent whom they have cored on their roster at any one time.

A Core Qualifying Offer is a fully guaranteed one-year deal worth the supermax that both UFA and RFA’s are eligible for.

If a player receives a Core Designation, the team that designates them as such is the only team with which a player can sign or negotiate a contract during the free agency period. But the team and player can still negotiate a move elsewhere via a sign-and-trade agreement if both parties desire.
Got it. But at that point doesn’t it become a default player option, cause the player can just refuse to play if no sign and trade agreement is reached?

Hell CC is polarizing on an Iowa message board. No shock it’s ramped up times a thousand out in the Twitter and WNBA zeitgeist.

Im becoming increasingly pessimistic this ends well for anyone, especially CC. Like can you imagine another 13-15 years of this? Her career may take an odd turn at some point.

Maybe I was being parasocial but I could see how exhausted she was at times during her rookie year when one of these incidents happened and social media did its thing.

I'm sure it's got to be exhausting to be under a microscope 24/7.

Positive is we almost made it halfway through a season this time before she was used as a catalyst for a culture war. Maybe by her second contract she can get through a drama free WNBA season.

Doubtful, but that would be nice. Some of the old guard like Bonner/Thomas may actually retire some year, so......

I’m as big of a Caitlin backer as anyone, and I think overall the W is a clown show, but what is wrong with what AT said in that video?
I meant to comment but somehow posted it without ...

She says that the Mercury know when you play the Fever it's all about 1) moving people out of the way 2) getting to the basket, and 3) getting to the foul line.

In my mind only one of those things is basketball or in the spirit of the game. I guess a lot of players try to get to the line, but for some teams it's a staple of their offense it seems. Trying to get fouled is a cheap tactic, imo, but there ARE many folks who think it's enlightened basketball or something. They'll say it's "a real heady play" or something, lol. And I know Caitlin will occasionally do this too but I'm not a fan regardless.

Then the moving people out of the way ... that's just a flat-out corruption of the game. Might was never supposed to equal right in basketball. I'm definitely old school on this.

Why, because I agree with a 1 game suspension for a half punch? She also gets a $1,000 fine.

Just an hour ago no one thought anything would be done.

She can do her game and everyone can move on.. "Half punch" ? You are an idiot

Should have been a flagrant 1 IMO. Not surprised it got upgraded to a flagrant two. Also not surprised that people who thought the league were going to do nothing are now mad that they didn't go far enough with the one game suspension
Tell us you are clueless on so many levels. There is now way that shot to the groin is incidental or accidental..

I saw all that, but it looked like she was pulling her punch a little. it did not land. I did not see the groin I gotta go back and watch it. they did do a good job of looking like they were going for the ball and hiding it. that was obviously intentional. pre meditated assault. just did not land. I really don't fault the refs too much because they hid it then the ball kicked out and they were following the ball, still should have been a foul . they are blind.; refs are blind. it's an old joke.
Most of the jumping on Clark happened when the ball was nowhere near her…that’s the problem I have with it. Wrestling over a ball that’s not there and never really was there.

Thomas could have easily grabbed the ball out of Clark's hands if that's what she wanted to do. She made absolutely no attempt to get the ball. She went straight to the throat as Clark passed the ball from a prone position.

This is the same Alyssa Thomas who clotheslined Angel Reese. The same Alyssa Thomas who shredded Napheesa Collier's ankle when she ran through her on a steal. Thomas is a linebacker playing basketball. She's the Bill Romanowski of the WNBA. One game is better than nothing, I suppose. It's at least something. But the next time she pulls this kind of **** it needs to be a lot more than just one game. She's going to wind up ending someone's career if she doesn't change her reckless playing style.

That's what I said earlier in the thread. The unnecessary and intentional knee to her groin was way more dangerous than the fist to her throat. CC missed most of last season because of an injury to that groin. That was 100% Alyssa Thomas trying to injure her. Thug, dirty play.

The real irony is that CC is THE reason AT is earning $1.2 million in salary this year.

They shouldn’t discipline Thomas just because she did it to Clark, they should discipline her because she does it all the time and she’s bad for the league.

The sense of entitlement of these welfare queens - yeah, I said it - has no bounds. They have always felt entitled to money they never earned prior to 2024, and continue to show no regard for the primary source of their newfound trappings. Entitlement maybe sounds like a buzzword but that's just what it is, pure and simple.

I'm not expecting the angry hordes to genuflect around CC, but you would expect them to be smart enough to not kill the Golden Goose. But no, ofc not.

Basketball is a competitive and physical sport. There's always going to be players who don't like each other, trash talk, hard fouls, and in some cases cheap shots. So that won't change no matter who retires.

Thomas snuck one last night on the court, it's not like she followed her out to the parking lot and kneecapped her with a tire iron. Unfortunately the refs missed it in real time (so did the Fever bench, CC's teammates, and a majority of people watching before the replay made the rounds on social media). But the league stepped in and handed out a suspension.

We can save the think pieces and outrage farming and move on to the next game.

Sounds reasonable, however, as Stephen A. Smith said, this type of thing happens too often to Clark. This is not just players playing hard and trash talking each other. It’s far too obvious to think it’s just players being competitive.

But isn’t the question whether the Sparks really are the best fit? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, CC controls her own destiny after next year. Why would anyone trade for her at this point without some guarantee of her signing long term? Or is it worth the risk and both parties just take a year and see how it goes.
CC will play only 2-3 more years. Why would she want to put up with being the target of so much hate from others in this league. She's financially set for life and has a future in TV if she wishes.

I'm a big CC fan, but that's not her in the pic. Caitlin does not wear a purple jersey with the number 24.

The Mercury shared a doodle of a stick figure lying on the ground with the words, "De-Wanna piece of this?!?" The stick figure — dressed in DeWanna Bonner's No. 24 Mercury jersey, pony tail and her signature white headband — referenced Bonner celebrating her and-one opportunity in the second quarter of Wednesday's win.

But the social media post promptly received backlash and some called it inappropriate in light of a viral clip of Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas pushing down on the neck of Fever guard Caitlin Clark. The Mercury removed the post to avoid further misinterpretation, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

The doodle shared on Wednesday, June 24, references a key moment in the second quarter. Bonner made a layup with 4:49 remaining in the first half to come within one point of the Fever, 44-43. She was fouled on the play by Indiana's Monique Billings and gave a triumphant roar while lying on her back. Bonner cashed in on the 3-point play at the free-throw line to tie to the game as boos rained down.

Maybe because she’s ultra-competitive. I don’t see her walking away simply because she has a lot of money. She wants to compete. She wants to win titles. She wants to be the best at what she does.

Who else do you think should be on there?
I suppose it depends on the eligibility timeframe, for example Phee isn’t even active rn. Right now my top 4 Aja, Stewie, Plum, Miles.

if the list is for 2025 season it’s fine.
