***CC22 and the Fever mega thread***

Fever have a very weak bench and are lacking a backup to Boston. End result is you wind up having KM and CC taking 53 shots because no one else can score.
Stop. She missed 18 shots in a one possession game. It’s untenable.
No one can rationally justify this performance. True she hit big shots in 4th quarter. But the hole had been dug.
No she had no help. But she missed wide open 3/s and took ugly 2s and was blocked at the rim all night.
Expect better.
OK coach what yah gonna do if she doesn't meet your efficiency rules?
Cut her minutes? Bench her? Trade her? Draft Audi Crooks to replace her?
Who on this team makes up her 30+ points tonight?

So I guess she should just quit. A baseball player can’t go 0 for 3 in the first eight innings then hit a grand slam to tie the game in the ninth…that’s just inefficient. I’m quite sure she was very unhappy with her early shooting performance, but she finished very strong and single handedly sent the game into OT. Great players bounce back and do what they need to do, mediocre players give up on themselves and stop shooting. It’s game 3, I think she will be okay. By the way, she was +14 for the game and Citron was +7…just saying.
And exactly who are you to “expect better”? I’m quite sure she expects better of herself, but even in off games, she’s better than most players in the league. I think you expect too much. You obviously don’t know much about basketball and you certainly don’t know women’s basketball.
Well now you’re talking about a different thing. But an important one. I think CC would be better served on a better team with a better roster with a better coach. Let’s see if that happens down the road…

This was a great CC display in the 4q. But it was not a good CC game overall.

At some point this becomes like LeBron with the Cavs early in his career. Not super efficient but still a transcendent talent. Stop trying to will your way and join a competent franchise with a better roster. It’s where we are headed with CC imo.
She doesn’t have a choice at this point. She’s locked in for a while.
Yeah 2 more years. Then she’ll be 26 and ready to determine her future. Nice place ti be at that age.

Also how does she "control" if someone can't catch her pass or they can't make the layup. Stop passing seems to be it. What's the limit on her passes not caught or shot missex before she has to stop passing?
Okay, it wasn’t a good game for her overall, but she still had 32/8/4, which only a couple of players in the league could do on their best day….so that says something about how good she is.
When in the game would you have told her to stop shooting coach?
They tried that, they took her out when they were up 13 and by the time they put her back in, they were losing….that’s how terrible she played.

I’m just saying being a fan of a team or a person shouldn’t mean you can’t criticize or have a critical opinion.
Just be reasonable. If CC didn’t perform well, just say it. There’s context and nuance almost always. But gotta be wary of being sucked into a cult mentality. It’s so so easy.

Her playmaking was great as always. But point totals can be misleading.
Having teammates who can finish with her passing…absolutely legit. Dont know if the Fever have those players
But CC can’t shoot 10-28. She just can’t.
No player can and be expected to have their team win.
So can only judging someone by one aspect of their whole game. Without her today, they would have lost by 30 or more. She had the highest plus/minus of anyone on either team, so she helped them way more than she hurt them.
If any one of her teammates would have played well, they would have won with her shooting 10-28…if two players would have stepped up, they would have won easily with her shooting 10-28. You’re acting like all those shots amounted to 10 points. If she would have shot 10-12, they still would have lost.
That doesn’t make sense logically. 18 possessions were sacrificed. CC has struggled shooting 3s but been great as a playmaker.

The 2nd and 3rd quarters were awful.
Would CC focusing more on playmaking rather than shooting have helped?
Analytics will bear this out. So not sure how it shakes out but it seems almost impossible to argue that a more efficient CC would increase Fever chances at winning
CC finished with 8 assists but it should have been at least 12 had layups and bunnies been converted. Her points and assists accounted for half of the Fever's 102 points. Not a bad night in spite of her poor shooting percentage.

But no other player is being excused for a 10-28 shooting performance. And the Fever lost. Which can be attributed to both the inability of players to finish and CC own inefficiency.
And don’t get me started about KM and the injured AB.
And don’t get me started about Whites coaching acumen.
It’s all a bit of a cluster.
CC took 28 shots and scored 32 points. That's 1.143 points per shot attempt. The rest of the team took 64 shots and scored 70 points. That's 1.094 points per shot attempt.
The Fever outscored the Mystics 93-79 when CC was on the court. The Mystics outscored the Fever 25-9 when CC was on the bench.
I'm not sure CC's 'inefficiency' is the reason the Fever lost.
Were you talking about Boston and the rest of the forwards who did nothing. Let's pass to Clark and not lay ups. Maybe they need a new coach?
