I am hoping Sharpe sits this year and plays next year. I think it will miss up the chemistry. He will be behind in condition and has not experienced any collage ball yet.
If we're being honest and it's been told to me several times by friend who has been at practices and seen this team play--Mintz shouldn't get much clock. If we're being honest. If we want to have a sentimental AARP CBB version player--then good luck with that.Mintz should not be the starting point guard. Wheeler is one helluva a distributor
If he's on campus in next couple of weeks, he'll be working out with them and find his role. Ideally I agree with you but if your choice is he's with team and splits after a Semester....then give me getting him on the floor. We all had to sit through the nightmare which was '20 season, I have no sentimentality for anyone who was part of that team and can't earn mins. Mins need to be earned by how you play, not how long you've been here or how hard you work if you can't play. That starts with next week's exhibition game. If Mintz is starting the guys who have shown the best to this point aren't on the court. That comes from friend and those he knows who have seen some practices/workouts too.I am hoping Sharpe sits this year and plays next year. I think it will miss up the chemistry. And you don't know a thing about basketball if you think Wheeler isn't playing. Wheeler will start and I'll take your money if you wanna bet on it.Wheeler shot 23% from three last season for Georgia. 18/80 from three. The year before, he shot about 32% from three.
In two seasons for Georgia, he shot a combined 26% from three point range on 130 total attempts.
Yes--and he had open looks and threw up bricks. This team won't have time to leave a guy like this in to make everyone happy. He couldn't get them into any offense early in the game and the Blue Team would've taken it to about 25/30 by Half if Cal didn't change the teams up. The fact that we have several people who want to talk of Mintz "being a PG" means they ignore the fact he literally couldn't get them in offense, couldn't play with the ball at pace the team wants to play and teammates were suffering big time-how awful did Keion Brooks look with White team to start compared to when he moved over with Wheeler/TyTy?I agree. He looked kinda erratic tonight. Doesn't handle the ball well. Just needs to be a fill in shooter when he gets the ball and his look is open and feet set.
I thought Mintz and Grady underwhelmed tonight. If we're being honest and it's been told to me several times by friend who has been at practices and seen this team play--Mintz shouldn't get much clock. Could see your take on Grady--but I liked how he moved without the ball and did a few good things. Made some shots off halfcourt sets and getting free. But I can see based on expectations why you lumped him in there.I thought Mintz and Grady underwhelmed tonight.
It looks like TyTy and Oscar separated themselves from the pack in the scrimmage. Add Sharpe and we have three elite players.

Hopkins???I thought Mintz and Grady underwhelmed tonight.

I hope he plays. If he does, it means he is capable of running a real team. That would be good news for all of us.And you don't know a thing about basketball if you think Wheeler isn't playing. Wheeler will start and I'll take your money if you wanna bet on it.
I thought Grady looked good, Mintz not so much. I think our lineup, if Sharpe comes, will be Wheeler, Washington, Sharpe, Grady and Oscar. With Hopkins, Toppin, Collins and Brooks off the bench. I think poor Mintz should get spot minutes. Frederick and Allen will be on the bench. Frederick because he won't be healthy it doesn't seem. Leaves Ware to give us 5 fouls.I thought Mintz and Grady underwhelmed tonight.

Absolutely. I’m in no way against adding Sharpe as long as he actually plays. I just think it would be in poor taste for his minutes to come at the expense of Grady. His situation is unique as a 6th year guy. I don’t think Grady should be guaranteed anything. But, camp is over & if he won the job it would be deflating, at best, to lose his starting spot to a guy who didn’t suffer thru camp & wasn’t even part of the equation when he committed. He has busted his *** all summer & could’ve gone anywhere else that he wanted & gotten all the shots & exposure he can handle, without the worry of an 11th hour addition at his position.Yeah, this is the potential hazard of adding Sharpe.
The upside is that you might be adding a Kobe-level talent. If we could have added Tracey McGrady late to the 1998 team (in January, for example), you have to do it, even if it ticks off Heshimu Evans for a few weeks.
When you can say this about 9 or 10 different guys, you know you have the makings of a great team.Mintz should still play 20 mpg I don’t care. You’d be an idiot not to have him on the floor some
Really liked Hopkins....he also had 2 or 3 shots that should have dropped.Hopkins???
I agree. He was confident and handled the ball fine given it was just a scrimmage. He definitely looks like he could be a great player.Really liked Hopkins....he also had 2 or 3 shots that should have dropped.
I think he's a mini-Jamal Mashburn. Strong, can handle, shoot a bit, skilled offensive repertoire....But Mash was better at all those things and more poised and polished. I don't think Hopkins is elite...but he can be for UK at some point.
Unless he goes overseas, he's not eligible for the NBA DraftThat seems to be the rumor. Now the question will be, if he tries to play in spring semester and then head to NBA June 2022... which will hurt us for next season.
They were 19 prior to the start of the season correct? It’s or. MKG was 18 and got drafted. i think kevin knox was too.
Diallo graduated a year before the draft. What was the situation with Hami Diallo? Seems like he was eligible for the NBA draft after graduating and enrolling mid-season. The NBA let him declare for the draft.
I don't really get the sense that the NBA is too strict with their rules on draft eligibility. If it's a close call they let them declare. At least that's what it seems like to me. Is there a situation where a kid tried to declare and the NBA told him no?
Completely agree. If he comes early, once he is in shape/sync with the offense he doesn’t leave the court. Him, tyty, and oscar would be a formidable three. Let everyone else battle to see who plays with them. That team would have a lot of potential. It seems you people aren’t realizing how good Sharpe actually is. If he plays this year, he’s UK’s best player by far and likely the best in the country. He’s that good. Everything else will work itself out.
He shot below 32% one time in his life. Last year . A team in which he was forced to take shots. All through highschool he was a decent shooter aswell. Go ahead and create an agenda though.Wheeler shot 23% from three last season for Georgia. 18/80 from three. The year before, he shot about 32% from three.
In two seasons for Georgia, he shot a combined 26% from three point range on 130 total attempts.
Grady is smart, let's the game come to him, and will still get 14/16 by the end of the night. That's exactly what you want.I thought Grady looked good, Mintz not so much. I think our lineup, if Sharpe comes, will be Wheeler, Washington, Sharpe, Grady and Oscar. With Hopkins, Toppin, Collins and Brooks off the bench. I think poor Mintz should get spot minutes. I'm not creating an agenda. I like Wheeler. But statistical facts don't lie. He's a bad three point shooter. Hopefully he's improved from three point range. We will need him to make perimeter shots when he's out there. He shot below 32% one time in his life. Last year . A team in which he was forced to take shots. All through highschool he was a decent shooter aswell. Go ahead and create an agenda though.
40% is the baseline for being a good shooter from the college 3pt line.He shot below 32% one time in his life. Last year . A team in which he was forced to take shots. All through highschool he was a decent shooter aswell. Go ahead and create an agenda though.
Stats don't lie dude. He's not a good shooter. He shot below 32% one time in his life. Last year . A team in which he was forced to take shots. All through highschool he was a decent shooter aswell. Go ahead and create an agenda though.
Lol ok40% is the baseline for being a good shooter from the college 3pt line.
I never said he was a good shooter but acting like he's horrible isn't the truth either.Stats don't lie dude. He's not a good shooter.
So Quickly, Darius Miller, James Young were all bad shooters.40% is the baseline for being a good shooter from the college 3pt line.
A bad shooter is under 30%So Quickly, Darius Miller, James Young were all bad shooters.
40% is baseline for being a great shooter.
To me it depends on what role the guy has and how many shots he's putting up.A bad shooter is under 30%
A good shooter is over 40%
There are any number of adjectives you could use to describe guys who shoot between 30-40%. Average, solid, OK, mediocre... as the percentage decreases.
During the shoot around Wheeker’s shot didn’t look that good to me. It’s early, fans were back, etc so that may have made an impact. Everything else about him was great just don’t see him shooting much from outside this year.I'm not creating an agenda. I like Wheeler. But statistical facts don't lie. He's a bad three point shooter. Hopefully he's improved from three point range. We will need him to make perimeter shots when he's out there.
I haven’t seen anything posted regarding him playing this year. He will join the team to practice and train only. Will not be playing until 2022Today, KSR is saying there are reports he wants to enroll "in 2 weeks," so they're speculating he'd play if he's joining this early.
I think Mintz loses minutes to Sharpe, too. And that's fine, as you say. Just win and it all sorts itself outFine with this. I think it knocks Allen out of PT and CJs minutes down tho. Win #9 and then worry about #10 next year![]()
If he doesn't--then don't want to hear fans ever complain about recruiting again because nobody is going to play at a program where Lottery picks sit behind 6th year guards who should be 13th men on a 12 man team.I think Mintz loses minutes to Sharpe, too. And that's fine, as you say. Just win and it all sorts itself out
