They would need to sweep TN or go 2-1 if they play in SEC tourney, gotta get ahead of them somehow to get to preferable Louisville region. I think Duke, UVA and Gonzaga will be hard to overcome for a one seed.

^^^To those above, yes sweeping UT would be a huge challenge, but it might be what it takes to snag a #1.

I think if UVA wins ACC and beats Duke and doesn’t have any slip ups, they get a #1. Most likely DC.

In that scenario, Duke probably still gets a #1 because they’re Duke. So they get shipped to Midwest or South.

But if we sweep UT and make it to SEC Championship game, I don’t see any way we don’t get a #1 (assuming again no slip ups anywhere else). Does the committee send us to Midwest or keep us in Louisville?

One of the few years where I think the region we get sent matters a great deal. Playing in Louisville as any seed is more desirable than playing as #1 seed in any other region
IMO.

My most likely scenario:
West—Gonzaga
East—Duke
South—UK
Midwest—UVA or UT

UVA is solid and will be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Basically the same team last year with uninjured future NBA player in Hunter. Jerome and Guy are a solid high IQ backcourt, Hunter a beast on the wing and Salt is solid in the post. Bennett has them playing at a real high level, think they will beat pUKe. Would be a great Elite Eight matchup that is for sure. if we were to play today 50/50...come March we got them.
Be very interesting if it comes down to two SEC teams and two ACC teams as number ones. Crazy to think that with SEC and ACC tourneys that a possibLe 4th game played between 2 teams can happen twice...has that happened before? Has it ever even happened once?

In 1986 the Cats played Bama 4 times and played LSU 4 times. Went 7 and 1. The 1 was a heartbreaker.

Whatever happens between us and UT, when the tournament comes, I hope UT and Duke face off. I'd love for Schofield and Williams to go up against Williamson. The ultimate poster children vs the blue chip, lunch pail team that UT represents. I'd love for us to beat UT, become the 1, and them become a 2 in Dukes inevitable 1 seed bracket.

One thing that I think helps us with getting sent to Louisville is the NCAA’s desire to see a rematch of UK vs. Duke in the FF or NC game. Perfect bookend to the season, made for TV.

Best way to ensure that is to send us to the South, if we earn the #1 seed.

Gonzaga. Yeah, they and their literally-nobody conference. They should be somewhere in the high teens, not perched in the top 5 with teams that actually play a FULL YEAR of tough teams.

Tennessee is really good if we can win at rupp and play them close in Knoxville and they don’t sweep us I would be very happy

Don’t know how we can contain Williams and their outside shooting

The star treatment that kid gets is ridiculous

This sets up a compelling narrative for our meeting(s) with U.T. Hopefully we at least split those two games and don't have to have SEC Tourney performance determine our seeding fate (b/c we all know how that works out for us.) o_O
The SEC Championship game has never had any impact on NCAA seeding... at least for a very long time.

Surprised Michigan St dropped to 9 after that good loss at home to IU
Finally they got it right with us. We deserved that 5 spot. However Mich St losing 2 straight to unranked opponents and then on their own floor to that amazing IU team coming off a 7 game losing streak and only dropped 3 spots LMFAO and only to 8th in the NET. WOW! We would have been dropped 10 spots for the IU loss at home by itself.
