I think Douc gives us some quality minutes. I have to believe the Purdue game gave him some deserved confidence. Need Harper to play. I am assuming Young is playing. Does Caleb play some? I am assuming Cliff is not playing. We can win this game

As the team gets better this board gets more clueless - what a bunch of negative clueless people. This thread is just another really good example.

My guess is Harper plays. We really need to get Cliff back. If he can’t go, I guess it’s up to Douc? I’d love to see more of Reiber but Garza is a handful. I think you have to double him and take your chances with their 3 point shooters. They are very talented.

Yeah. They've gotta double Garza.

Did anyone expect Harper to practice before today at the earliest? He turned an ankle. Resting it up makes the most sense period.

If we don't have Harper, it opens up the go to guys a bit. We had a nice balance, I think, against Purdue. No reason why either Mathis or one of the others doesn't have a career night. I also think Purdue was the coming out party for Gio this season. But, if we lose Myles it would really be a serious problem.

Well, if Harper isn’t ready to go full throttle ...no reason to risk it. So you sit him , take the L and move on. It January 2. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
You don't seem to understand that when you say the term "take the L", you sound like a loser and our team would probably agree right?

Tons of posters were saying take the loss vs purdue. Our guys obviously thought that was a dumb notion

Some of our “fans” here act like wusses and want to cry to Mommy when a scary team is next up on the schedule. The sky was in free fall because RHJ was out for Purdue but we won. We lost Geo for a few games and OMG a the season was OVER.

We lost ONE game where everything that could go wrong went wrong. But the Pollsters didn’t think we were frauds and only dropped us a wee bit.

Some People need to sprout a ball and accept we can win in many ways...like elite teams do...and quit shitting their britches when something “scary” appears.

I am a fan and not on the team . I could care less what the team thinks of my post . If I had to guess they don’t care. I am a realist and looking big picture here. I bet you if we don’t have Ron and lose the team attitude will be get them next time with Ron

A realist just concedes defeat when your top 15 team is missing one impact player? No..an ill advised fan who doesn't know what we have on this team does that.

Yeah. They've gotta double Garza.
Absolutely let Garza get his points down low they are too talented from 3 I’d rather give up a 2 to Garza than have them rain 3 pointers on us because their defensive is bad

Crash down on Garza with the double hard when he has the ball in the paint. Make him uncomfortable and have to sweat a second set of hands. Scramble recover / rotate / etc. if he kicks out. Make him WORK for his points all game long!

Double Garza and force him to make the right decision. May give up open three point attempts, but will also lead to some turnovers and some forced bad shots through the double team.

A few of you guys are forgetting that we have one of the best defensive bigs in the nation. Let Myles have Garza 1 on 1. I'll take my chances there rather than doubling and giving up wide open 3s.

In fact, we are better off without Harper. It puts too much pressure on Iowa and no pressure on Rutgers.
I am ok either way.

Ah yeah right, btw this just in, Iowa is considering sitting Garza saying it takes the pressure of winning off of the other players and puts it square on RU. They’re better off without him 😳

Johnson is a good defensive center but he tends to be foul prone.Iowa will go to Garza on most possessions before passing to players in the corners for 3 point shots.

You can double Garza with whoever is on Connor McCaffrey. The kid is almost no threat to shoot

Interesting.
I find our most stifling defense resulting in turnovers and offensive confusion for our opponent is when Myles is active in the high post.
I know a few on this board don’t like him up there, but you’ve got to mix it up

Garza will foul him out. He’s relentless and also gets every call. He’s kind of the golden boy of the B1G.

Really hoping Harper plays and is healthy. I think sometimes teams will really come together for one game when there is significant adversity. It’s difficult to replicate that

When someone declares himself a realist it doesn't make him a prophet. Your perspective may be right, but the self-proclamations are meaningless.
