yep. Guard the 3, its an annual concern lately. And shoot the 3, we have the weapons for once. If we shoot the 3 consistantly, and guard the 3, I think we have as good of a shot as anyone
I think the Nike rift started because UK didn't want to play a tournament on the West Coast celebrating Phil Knights birthday. Nike got bent out of shape about it. We should drop Nike. They pump so much money into Oregon it's ridiculous. Kentucky gets table scraps compared to what Nike gives the Ducks. We could do better with Adidas and probably even Under Armour.
The Cal and Nike rift starter before the PKI. That was a result of something imo, not the cause. It's been downhill since. I dont think anyone knows why. Probably had to do with Cal not liking Nike acting against him with players he'd have in the bag during any other decade.
Zion is a Cal player. Bagley is a Cal player. Wiggins was a Cal player. Ayton is a Cal player.
And none have played for Cal.

If we could get players to stay, for example someone like Azibuke from KU, we'd be a lot better off, however, kids are leaving that should not. OAD is ok if you're getting top 5 recruits but that's not happening anymore.
Jeff, I have to be totally honest here. I haven’t been overwhelmed YET by Keldon Johnson.
As of right now, he looks like a solid player, a good, athletic guy, who has some ability. I just don’t see a first round pick as of now. Maybe I’m missing something.

I am not overwhelmed by him either, in fact, our entire team has been very underwhelming at damn near every aspect of the game.
But with Keldon, you can see he has top 10 potential, just not top 5.
Something is definitely off, all of our guys have obviously worked hard over the summer, but perhaps they weren't workng on the things that apply to winning basketball on the court.
I mean, I haven't seen a team in the current top 25 that I would say we can beat.

My only differing opinion is what I think we will be in March.
To me, this looks like one of those teams that will finish the SEC strong, give us hope, then lose to a team they should beat, just like last year, the year before that (#Higgins) and the year before that and so on.

He’s not a OAD type, he’s a freshman, and he’s offensively behind.
Cal is not an offensive coach, it doesn’t help that he’s so vanilla.
He’s young, in a system easy to prepare for, and isn’t a star.

Possible he is waiting on Johnson, to see if he actually jumps to the NBA. It will be a very crowded backcourt/SF if the guards and Johnson return.
It’s because we lost Antigua that year and he was our lead recruiter. There’s your answer. The Towns class was the last class he recruited here and there’s a very noticeable difference in classes pre and post Towns.

Absolutely delirious!!! Currently Cal is about 3 years behind the game in both recruiting and coaching.
Cal’s pitch is dead and some of y’all need to swallow your pride and admit it. We’ll be lucky to finish as a ranked team this year and next year won’t be any better.
Ok, we know Cal didn't forget how to recruit, so what is going on? It's got to be something. That many misses after the way he was recruiting is due to something specific. I wish I knew what it is.

I call ********. Remember last season? You can see the potential of this team. PJ and Reid are solid, quade has improved, Keldon is solid and herro,q, and Hagans are coming along...each showed above avg ability at times. It's November. Our team is the most complete since 2015 at all positions. Once the freshmen break through that exhaustion wall, they will be unbelievable. Like Cal said, we played 24 minutes today. When we were playing you saw the future of this team will play. Noone will be able to hang with us down low. Othe than that horrible 1st game, our team were put in situations where teams of the past would of folded. We can manufacture points like 2015 team...we are weak in defense which is something we can fix with more gametime.
19 3's and still won, we never folded or hung their heads. It didn't affect their ft shooting. We CAN close games finally

Haven't seen it in the last few years. We have been getting plan C and plan D players. Cal needs to look at staff changes because they clearly are not getting the job done. KP is the only keeper in the whole bunch. He needs to quit hiring his buddies and hire someone who is qualified and a great recruiter. Ever since Antigua left Cal's recruiting has suffered.
