Richards as a Junior, he can focus on getting better vs showing out for nba scouts. Cal just needs to start EJ.
Sucks bout Carey, wonder what happened on that visit was it carey and Stewart here at same time?
unc with Anthony and Carey would be a good combo, just no pUKe
I think Carey will play with Stewart @ MSU

Cal said years ago that modern kids can only reference the last two years in terms of what they remember from college guys. It's cool that we have those guys, but the high school players of today don't remember watching Wall or Davis in college. They were too young.

Kentucky isn't the OAD place anymore. Cal hasn't adapted. We're losing.
Cal prides himself on adapting, talks all the time about how he read the tea leaves back when the one & done thing started, well, it's time to read more tea leaves because this ain't working.
This team is not winning a title, they're a stud player or two short. Next year looks worse.
Not good.

Ehh, you’re not important enough to warrant the attention you’re seeking...

Still several options on the table including returning some of our current big men
Who is the next best option for high school kids? I know grad transfers are unknown at this point.

I understand the entire AAU coach thing, however, if Wiseman wants to play for an unproven coach as opposed to Cal, who is a Hall of Famer then let him go. He won't be there for more than a year anyway.

I think some of these players could become studs if they stayed around more than 9 months. Looks at what Josh Harrelson did and never got off the bench his first couple of years at UK. Humphries probably would have been one of the best big men in college basketball had he stayed as well.

I guess recruits going to BBM is not helping like we hoped it would. He comes to Madness and we can't even make the top 3??

That's another frustrating story. Not much in the state to pick from on an elite level.

If we could just get someone, possibly through the Grad Transfer route that could be a stopper in the middle it would help immensely. Doesn't have to be a big time scorer but we need a shot blocker and strong presence inside. Not sure if Richards would ever be that guy against elite competition.
I don't know about you, but I don't trust Nick Richards to anchor us in the paint even if he stayed here for 5 years.
Looks like it's time to pillage some mid major programs.

Maybe that’s what Cal is doing. He has been saying the G League won’t affect the players we are getting. And it won’t now because those players making the jump will be top 5.

Cal is always ahead of the game.

Maybe they don't like seeing Matthew Mitchell dancing.

YOu think all 4 big men leave. Reid obviously and PJ. The other two leave you think?
This is UK, yes, we think all 4 are going to leave. They all have NBA potential and theur shelf lives are short, so they know they better go as soon as that door cracks open.

Neither do I. He still seems to be somewhat lost on the court even though he's a sophomore. I don't see much offensive improvement over last season as well.

We need another Dan Roundtree from Central Michigan, for the old timers, as a grad transfer.

Is anybody really surprised? He never was coming to UK and when Penny was hired I don’t think Wiseman was either. Best of luck to both but as far as Carey goes its more less a two team race.

Not really but what really sucks is the time Cal spent on recruiting Wiseman.

Keldon is the only one.
Our guards are average and our bigs are not going to somehow become athletic freaks by March.
But by the time KJ shows his true potential he'll be long gone from here.

Haven't kept up with him. Do we have a realistic shot with him before I get excited? Is he a reclass option?
yes we do. He is an early LSU lean, but very open compared to most. Cal usually offers only Juniors or seniors but offered him as a sophomore. The heats about to turn up on him. Cal asked for an answer in October from Wiseman, and now that Carey eliminated us, the focus switches to him. Doesnt mean he is a lock, but does mean he gets ALL the attention. Which when UK puts the heat on, and we get a blessing by having the other 2 decide early, it gives us immediate momentum. Keep an eye on him, He is also they best of the three, long term.

I think so as well. He really attacks the basket well and has a nice outside shot.

Yeah well he's way too far ahead of this game. But the problem with that theory is Cal has been going hard after most of these top 5 recruits, he's just not getting any of them.

Cal "adapted" and then stopped adapting once he needed to adapt from the origional adaptation.

Cal doesnt adapt. It's his biggest problem. Keeps him from the top tier of all time greats.

It's way more of an issue than that.

People the rift between Cal and Nike started this issue. Who knows why.

Changing assistants is not the main issue and probably why Cal hasnt replaced Barbee.

Can you elaborate on the uk Nike thing?

We coach the guys we have better.

I’ve got to be honest, after being at the game in person today, and then watching Duke/Gonzaga, I don’t think we could stay within 20 of either team on our best day. That’s just an honest opinion.

Hopefully we improve a lot over the course of the season, because we’re going to need to.
I actually agree with you, for today. But we will be a much different team come March.
