It's just about here. It's been discussed at length since before baseball Spring Training. @crusader_of_90 is like a kid on Christmas Eve today
. Here is my position breakdown and prediction.
QB- Advantage heavy on ESL. Shanklin is returning with a lot of success behind him, while MC wasn't sure who their guy would be until a few weeks ago. Ryder Startz, the younger brother of MC 2023 All State LB Parker Startz, is very athletic and a dual threat QB who has talent but not the experience.
RB- Advantage ESL. They have probably the best RB in the State who actually shared a lot of carries last year I'm told, but should get the bulk this year. Nate Samuels is an excellent RB for MC and heading to Lidenwood, he's also a great receiver out of the backfield, but he's up against a Giant in this category.
WR- Advantage MC. Another category where ESL also is always talented but Burrell and Thorton are Nationally Ranked and Sims is also returning. Add in new TE Ty Kennedy who was All Conference in Indiana last year and Startz has all the weapons he needs.
OL- Advantage ESL- MC loses 4 starters. Not great for a new QB. Dowling came in new last year with the entire line back and it helped. The one starter they do have back Chase Clark is outstanding and heading to Purdue and they have a giant Sophomore Piotr not going to butcher his last name but he is 6'7 300 and has Power 4 offers but gotta give the advance to ESL here.
Defense.....I'll save my time here, DL, LB and DB advantage MC and please know that I'm aware ESL has some great and a couple outstanding players but this is MC on defense
DL- Caleb Tucker, the Bone Crusher, 6'5 345 about 50 offers
DL- Jeremy Harris- 6'2 300 returning starter
DL-Emmanuel McMoore- 6'5 250 D1 Power 4 Offers
DE- Darin Graham- Wisconsin Commit
DE- London Owens- D1 recruit
LB- Roman Igwebuike- Notre Dame commit. 2025 All State, leading tackler on last years team. Nationally Ranked
DB- All 4 starters return from last year led by Michigan Commit, Nationally ranked, Taveras Harrington at Corner. Issac Saldana at the other CB who is committed to South Dakota State, and D1 recruit Brandon Rogers at Safety along with Cullen Winters.
Kicking- Hang on here....first time ever maybe in this category against any team? Advantage ESL!! They got a transfer in who is nationally ranked punter and can kick FG! I can't tell you anything about any kicker or punter on MC team although I hear both will be on the bus there tomorrow!
.
Coaching- Even. Both have multiple rings and a great staff.
Prediction- Both are loaded. They match up really well. A post was made by @Cross Bones months ago titled "Will MC go undefeated" and I said if anyone can beat MC it will be ESL as it's our first game with a new QB behind a new line....and if anyone team has the DBs to hang with MCs Receivers it's ESL.....now they added a kicker who specializes in punting and that's huge with field position.....if MC punts more then twice I'll be stunned, they tend to go for it.....Ryder Startz has to take what the defense gives him and not try to prove to everyone that he is going to be just as good as the QBs before him and try to force anything......MJC is a beast at RB, he can control the game....him vs Roman Igwebuike and Caleb Tucker will be worth the price of admission....about 5 of MC's starters are 3 year starters so just a lot of experience and hoping leadership will bring this team together
Final Score- MC 34 ESL 24
