I don't think we get any of those three and that's probably why they were still available for NU later in the process. But I hope I'm wrong.2 years at Garden city JC. Watt and Washington still on the fence.
We can’t have these open scholarships.
It’s ridiculous to not use all the scholarships
Only an inept coach isn’t using all 85 scholarships
Everyone knew he wasn’t going to qualify.
What am I missing??????? Ha ha ha
Well, to answer your question - the class as rated last year is going down quickly if none of the three get here. This is always the rub when everyone gets up in a lather over a recruiting class and where they are rated and start heaping praises on the coaching staff not to mention there is then the comparison we should beat Wisconsin, Iowa, and all the rest because we have higher rated classes. Well, we may have at one time if they all made it.
Goes back to what you want to win. The initial recruiting rankings, who shows up on campus, the off season feel good stories or the actual games.

With Canty, it should be interesting to see how he does at GCCC. If he starts two seasons and earns post-season honors, he could find himself highly recruited and possibly coming back to NU as a contender for immediate playing time. If he doesn't pan out at the juco level, well he wasn't going to make it at NU anyway. And I doubt he would have played many snaps his first two years here anyway. So this may not be that tough of a loss.
Makes me take a long look at dude from Utah and wonder about the need for bodies at NT vs the need for bodies on the OL.I agree
The only problem is our OL class was a F before he committed and he basically bumped it up to a D-
Two years ago I was bitching about how we only signed one DB in the 2017 class in Blades, and then last year I bitched that all we had was Will Farniok for the OL. When we landed Canty I said to myself well that was a necessity recruit right there. I was never thinking he was going to be a world beater, but he was another capable big body so it would hold over till this years recruiting class.
Stars or No Stars... we can't have positions that go completely unfilled like DB in 2017 and OL in 2018. That stuff just can't happen, and is a big reason for our lack of depth! There are 5 DB's on the field during Nickel, and 6 if you use the Dime. That position can't have a 0 next to it during a recruiting cycle EVER... The Same goes for the OL!

Based on their comments at the time, they just don't feel he can be athletic at 300-ish lbs. Duval & co seem to have a whole system for evaluating a guy's frame and deciding what kind of weight they think he can carry. They seemed to suggest he'd be too lumbering for what they want if they bulked him up to that size.It also makes me wonder about the move by Chris Walker from Oline where we appear to be in desperate need to Dline

Sorry I was just being a bit of an ***. Those are just a few of the things we’ve heard over the last 15-20 years.
The good news about Oline is that 9 of the 14 players on scholarship or committed, will be here for the 2020 season. That gives Frost time to take a couple of more JC players on the line in 2019 and 2020 classes. Of the 5 we lose, Farmer and Foster are the only guaranteed starters, Conrad is a probable starter then Gaylord and Barnett may contribute. The bulk of the room is soph and freshmen, plus the two recruits.

Sorry Tuco... Quit trying to polish a turd. Nine guys fighting for 5 spots is a joke if you ask me.

That Riley was also a ****-awful practice and game coach?
Don't forget about Pelini being a lazy recruiter
Yes! And the toxins!
but the toxins are akin to the lack of work ethic the previous staff allowed to flourish.

Fair enough, but I think at the very least from what I've read, Miller has shown enough to be counted on to add depth to the group.I am counting only scholarship guys, not walk ons. If he is awarded a scholarship, he goes on the list.

Is Ethan Piper not considered an O-line recruit? Maybe I missed something but 3 thus far in 2019 and still counting. Over 25% of the class thus far is O-line commits. Seems like the staff knows the scholarship count at O-line. Plus, don't be surprised when Walker moves back out of necessity and for earlier playing time
I don't think I've used those. In fact I have defended Pelini and Riley for being under the limit. I don't see the need to take a reach player in a particular class just to get to 85. That scholarship is a 4 year commitment not a one year deal.
I would rather Nebraska have 80 scholarship players than put five 2 star or low 3 star kids on scholarship that should be walk ons.
Thanks for the heads up. Is that documented some place or just word on the street?Walker isn't moving back. He was moved to defense because Duval didn't think he could add the weight required to play Oline and keep the agility needed to play OLine. It isn't just because he wanted to move to Dline.
