Either Cal has to go for being a horrible coach or Mitch has to go for being a horrible AD stupid enough to give cal that contract. Someone has to bite the dust for this season. We are looking at a single digit win season. If nobody is fired after this crap I’ll never spend another dime on uk sports or merch.

It’s bad when I have Tennessee fans asking me how much longer is UK going to put up with Calipari. Everyone sees it except our idiot AD and the rainbow crew of BBN who supported even Billy until his last day.
You’re the one who doesn’t see the issue here. The question is not whether we want to fire him, instead it’s whether we “can.” And the answer is, NO, we can’t.

And that’s because of that “lifetime” contract extension Mitch gave him. We simply can’t afford to fire him now even if we want to, it would require a buyout FAR too expensive for any school to justifiably pay out.

It would not surprise me one bit to see Mitch give him a raise at the end of the season if he threatens to leave for the NBA.

How do the boosters view all this ? I know the fans need to put the pressure on but if the boosters are starting to feel like most of us fans then that is when they start pressuring the people that matter!
My guess is that we'll soon find out. There is no way that the boosters can be happy with any of this but with the huge buyout I'm not sure what anyone can really do at this point.

I've said it 100 times, I'd hire Beard tomorrow without a second thought. I'd go through the process of reaching out tot he obvious coaches and gauge interests. Nobody can pay what UK can, and nobody will. This is the Oval Office of college basketball.

I don't understand why so many of you pretend this is some impossible task.
IMO, Scott Drew would be a better choice than Beard. Beard is already the third highest paid coach in College BB and very doubtful that he would leave Lubbock. I saw an article yesterday about Scott Drew becoming a hot commodity for a higher profile coaching job and how it was just a matter of time. Drew is making a bit over $2M a year at Baylor and is probably ready for a top job.
