Ole Miss is having a wildly underachieving post-Omaha hangover much like we had last season.
They are actually 4-5 in SEC play but otherwise, solid analysis.
Lane Burroughs was hired from state. He's not at a major program but he was hired away.
But I get your point. We need to pay up for someone. Obviously we need to keep butch but we need another big time assistant.
I stand corrected. Lane was a good assistant coach. We need more assistants like him. If we keep any of our assistants other than Butch Thompson next year, I'll be pissed.

Why does Butch get a pass on scrutiny? His staff is sitting at 14 of 14 teams in team ERA in conference games with 15 wild pitches and 17 hbp through 8 games
the offense is hitting .230 with Rea and Heck hitting .095 and .103
Woody Hunt (winningest coach in NCAA) + Cliff Godwin as an assistant. Recruit more MS kids that will have a personal reason to win big (seems most of our kids are from Alabama). Bring in a real strength coach.

Yes. I believe we can.
BUT, I'm just not ready for the 'turmoil' of changing baseball coaches .. at least not yet, by a long shot.
Hopefully, Cohen can turn this around before it 'degrades' into a Stansbury type cluster ****.
So, 'who' is gonna be the leader of this fire Cohen movement? .. ala Coach34 .. who successfully led the 'lynching' party ON this board for 3 years before finally getting his wish granted.
And, the prize .. Rick Ray and 3 long years of the crappiest basketball in MSU history.
Is there really a need to ask who is C34 of baseball?
Who? Who is a sure-fire better fit for Mississippi State? Paul Maneiri? Don't think so. Pat Casey? Roll of the dice. Brian O'Connor? He has only equaled Cohen's farthest run, and there are not even competitive without John Grisham. Tim Corbin? It took him 9 seasons to simply REACH Omaha. Not to mention NONE of those guys are leaving their positions to come to MSU. We inquired into Casey in 2008 and he would not take the job. We are not as great as you all think. Remember that we already had one coach leave us for Florida, with all the built-in advantages they have.
Not to mention that John Cohen cares more about Mississippi State baseball than any of us can imagine. His recruiting ties are endless. His reputation among the experts in the business is superb. Once again, once the 2016 season rolls around and beyond, there will not be ANYONE left doubting Cohen. Idiots simply do not possess patience I suppose.

If his recruiting ties are endless , how do you explain how talent poor this current team is. Let's call a spade a spade. This team is weak and talent poor. WE are at risk of being the worst team in the SEC. Look at the schedule , there are better teams left than who we have lost to already. In year 7 , this just might be Cohens worst team yet.

Recruiting on paper isn't worth the paper it's written on. We've either done a very poor job evaluating players or a very poor job developing them. And I know we've got another "elite" class coming in next year, but the team that has 5 SEC signees on it (3 of them ours) somehow managed to lose 12 games last season and has already lost 7 this year. I'm hoping this isn't another class of overhyped players.
