So I heard that there’s rumblings of the university tearing down the M-Club building and putting a hotel there. The hotel will then be used to promote a hospitality program similar to Auburn. Discuss amongst yourselves.

That's the rumor I've heard and supposedly they are going to add some good

covered parking as part of it as well. Hotel rooms with big decks like the lofts where you can watch the games.

That would be awesome and also something that hasn’t been done yet around the country. At least not that I know of.

I don't know how we would add covered parking to anything attached directly to the stadium.

Hopefully the plan includes some premium seating options and a method for closing up that end of the stadium. We don't need additional seats, but it would dramatically improve the look of the stadium.

If this is the football version of the left field lofts, then this is a great idea. So great that we need to give our “idea” guy a raise. We are setting the bar in things that are awesome. And we will be copied. We haven’t typically been copied in the past.

We can close in the stadium without “adding” seats. The seats we gain by closing in the south end to tie in to the Lofts at Davis Wade can be offset by cutting walkway steps up the middle of sections B, C, D, E, and F to shorten those long bleachers. There are 44 seats in a row. Very uncomfortable to have people crawling across to get out for concessions or rest room trips. And while they are at it, add backrest.

Same here.

I could see a hotel footprint without disturbing the Junction or stadium too much (we'd lose some brick areas), but to get parking....maybe demo Lloyd-Ricks-Watson building and have a skyway?

Or it’s underground parking? I could see campus pd getting a new building which allows us to demo the old one and the Butler Guest House, which could be the parking area.

I believe they could do something like a hotel with lofts that mirrors seating in the north endzone, and then install chairbacks along the east and west sides, which would probably come close to balancing out seating with what we currently have. Of course, this is probably getting into too much money.

That would significantly degrade the appearance of the junction. Not only would you have the sky way (either a sidewalk w/ fencing or some fancy, enclosed glass tube-ish "thing"), but you'd also have massive concrete pillars to support placed Enroute to the "Hotel 6" (haha, get it? Touchdown = 6 points, hotel is in the endzone). Corny humor aside, I'm not sure the benefit of the Hotel. Good idea? It's an awesome idea, but with a campus already riddled with parking issues, how good of an idea is it to plan the end result without considering the secondary and tertiary effects?

We're just some dudes* spitballing on a message board. There are people with the university to work out the finer points.

Interesting idea. Any rumblings of what happens to M-Club seating area in that scenario?

Lloyd Rick's just got remodeled I can't imagine them tearing it down. It's one of the nicer academic buildings we have.

I have always wondered how a left field lounge type setup would work in the south end zone. Sell lounge spots and build hotel/lofts above.

If the new building takes up any of the current junction maybe they'll finally bulldoze that eyesore Dorman in order to make up for the lost space.

They just did a major renovation to it several years ago and I think it’s on the historic building list.

I can tell you one thing for certain. They better get every opinion from this board and heed them closely.

I’m for it if we integrate some lower level seating with it. I’m thinking at least do bowl seating halfway up or 1/3 of the way up that links with the east and west side. It could even be premium chair back with some club level access similar to the existing scoreboard club. If there is a hotel, the lowest balconies are going to have to be at least 4 stories up to provide a decent view of the game action anyway, so might as well put something in front that goes up to that height for seating purposes. The key thing is that end zone is our last bit of real estate left to do any sort of major seating expansion going forward, so it would be pretty foolish to not incorporate any seating in that area.

Also, I think the hotel should have an entry / facade that matches the North end so that there is a “grand entry” from the junction. I also think adding the parking garage there is a bad idea. And, the visitor’s locker room may have to be relocated, so that could create some logistical issues.

The Inn at Davis Wade.. I've pitched this idea over the last two years...

1. Parking garage below.. maybe 200 cars

2. 1,500 club seats inside the stadium. People who sit here have access to the hotel lobby with food/restrooms, pre-game andpost game music and party but your tickets do not access the elevators up to hotel rooms.

3. Hotel rooms.. perhaps 200. If you book a room during a game weekend you must purchase 8 tickets to the game. Each room has a 2-tier balcony with 8 seats outside. Glass doors inside the room are only unlocked on game days.

4. An elevated deck on the south side overlooking the Junction. Cafe tables, chairs and umbrellas for dining. This is the place where coaches and the team can address the crowds.

5. A new program created at MSU similar to the shark's Hospitality management.

6. Recruits and their family stay there and their balcony doors are unlocked so they get to view the stadium all weekend.

7. The Inn at Davis Wade is created... it's where you want to stay for graduation, Super Bulldog weekend, orientation, basketball, baseball (if your Left Field Loft balcony is otherwise.. occupied).

8. The Lobby is open and spacious.. walk out on the south side and you're on the dining patio overlooking the junction.. walk out to the north and you're inside Davis Wade.

9. Rooms on the south side MUST have balconies that are accessible on game days to make you feel like you're tailgating in the junction.. These rooms come with passes to the club area and lobby.

10. A rooftop event hosting area.. everything from small weddings, receptions, dinners, MSU events.. All in the middle of campus.. all overlooking the junction and the stadium.

dickiedawg….don't you realize that message boards like this is how problems are solved!? I'm sure the university under-pays some hungover sophomore (gender-exclusive) to scourge sites like this to discover the voice of "the people."

but yes, you're right. yet, I will continue to spit-ball in order to sustain my personal perception of self-worth and importance

Our "idea guy" hasn't received a raise since the #EndzoneHashtag (#HailState). He is due.

Post of the Day^^^^ I've been campaigning for this since the late 90's. No reason to have the longest rows in the entire SEC.

You can put parking underneath. Don't we have a parking garage underneath the new Old Main Academic Center? Could you imagine a hotel styled like it? It would look incredible!

They finally listened to me...now to work on high speed rail to downtown Starkville.

Put the visitor's locker room in an old shipping container behind Dorman Hall, problem solved.

What if they don’t add seating?
No go for you?

I mean flexibility to add should be there. If its a later phase down the road when the demand is there, that’s fine. That’s just the last bit of room we have, with exception of minor expansions like if we wrapped the scoreboard club around to the upper decks. It’s just always been a pet peeve of mine that we are the only SEC school without at least some seating all the way around all 4 sides. I’d hate for us to build our way out of any feasibility of ever doing that if Starkville / MSU / the fanbase continue to grow. Just my two cents.

Sure you lose the end zone cabanas But this idea of private hotel rooms would surely allow for some end zone cannabis.
