I'd like to offer my opinion on this matter, but why would I want to throw my *** in this fire? Kinda like being at a weeny roast and there's only one weeny left and everyone's fighting over it.

If you review this thread, I can assure you that I have been far more reasonable than some of the responses that I have received tonight. I haven't called a single poster dumb, inferred that they were liars etc. which has been directed at me.
Willis a 6'9" player that has attempted 26 free throws for his entire career because he does nothing but camp out on the three point line. In 128 minutes of play this year he has only attempted eight free throws, and that's mostly against inferior competition that he could have easily gotten to the line against.
His average is 0.7 made free throws a game this year. As soon as he gives up one basket to the other player, his free throw contributions (so far this year) are already a negative on the scoreboard. You do realize that he if would do what the team needs him to do (defend and rebound), then all of this would be irrelevant and he would get more playing time. Who cares if he shoots 1000% from the free throw when he's averaging less than one a game? Making less than one free throw a game does not get you playing time over not rebounding and defending.
Defense and rebounding are much, much, much, more important than free throws in a game of possessions. Are you really this clueless about the game that you would give up defense and rebounding for a couple of free throws, especially when said player doesn't even get fouled enough for his free throws to even make a bit of difference?
Cal might disagree with you on that. If not for poor free throw shooting, Cal would have one and possibly two more NCs.
Cause you brought it up out of context and imply that Cal should be making player decisions by placing the same priority on a few percentage points in freethrow shooting as defense. The implication is simply stupid beyond words. I was trying to be nice and was confronted with an idiotic reply.
The really bad thing with this type of asinine logic is that one is forced to call out a respected Kentucky player's weakness in order to refute such utter nonsense. Essentially, you make Willis look much worse than he is. He plays with more talented players. He contributes what he can. He is better this year than last. But you can't acknowledge that. You gotta trash the coach and glorify the few areas where he is approaching some equity in order to make a point that doesn't exist. I'm sure you fanboi's embarrass the living hell out of him.
I suggest you follow Willis' lead and support our program rather than tear it down just for the selfish reason to see a local boy play. And THAT is precisely what you are doing!

You are referring to Memphis and again you would be wrong because that was Chris Douglas-Roberts who missed those last 3, a starter with a 73% career FT average and a clutch player most of his career.

I'm not all for Willis getting a lot of clock but it's completely obvious Cal's prized recruits get to make 10x the mistakes that "regular" players get without being taken out.

Don't try to use Skal as an example of Cal sitting a prized guy. Skal was literally doing nothing on the court and Cal is doing anything possible to get him going. That includes coming off the bench or cutting minutes.

I'm not so sure that I'd count that as a 100% negative for Briscoe, though. Sure, he shoots free throws like crap, but with the way he drives he at least gets fouled, and sometimes a lot.
That in turn does two positive things for UK. It gets them to the bonus faster, and it also racks up fouls on the other team's players, ultimately forcing them to go to their bench and sometimes having to play inferior players.
But wouldn't you agree that Murray has also made many positive contributions to the team that more than make up for those turnovers? No player is perfect. You always have to take the good with the bad. It's much easier for a coach to do that and and give some players a longer leash if they are doing much more good than they are bad.

Second, Willis was a 4 star when he committed. I'm just going to assume sarcasm, because no one can be that obtuse. Just use amirite to indicate, otherwise that whole Poe's law thing.

Brisco plays great defense but his shooting is not that good from the outside but hits driving shots but cannot hit free throws, I thank his defense keeps him in the game, Willis is a good 3 pt shooter but is not as quick as Brisco, Hawkins I thank has really been coming in to his own and thank should play more. hope his ankle injury is not bad..
lol Chuckinden- Good response. It does seem LmdCat is out numbered alright but he is hanging in there. I will have to say he has some good points. I agree with him about Cal having double standards. I remember how Archie Goodwin led the team in turnovers and also led team in minutes played. So much for discipline. I could name others that did not get much playing time even in blowout games. That is just Cals way and I almost forgot you can't question his decisions.
There is one thing that does amaze me about Cal is that he can say something and there will be hundreds of fan that will tell you what he meant, although it wasn't what he said. Example: Our goal was to send 8 players to the NBA, not win the championship. It was amazing how many posters tried to explain that one.
