Amazing how we go from on the mountain to back down in the valley so quick.
I know I was very disappointed in wheeler and just how out of sorts we were. It was all good until that damn soccer game.

Strong possibility of high single digit losses this season.

  • Teams will dare Wheeler to shoot.
  • I'm not convinced Toppin isn't Poythress 2.0, just a big tease most of the time with an occasional top 10 play.
  • Do feel Reeves is the real deal but of course lots of others want shots.
  • Anyone expecting the pogo stick to be a major contributor does not know basketball.
  • Livingston is a wildcard and could contribute in many areas, how quickly that happens who knows.
  • Wallace does not look comfortable shooting outside with actual competition on the floor.
  • CJ. Will he be healthy enough to be on the floor as much as we need him? When he is on the floor will he continue favoring his injured leg and be able to stick with someone on defense?
  • Oscar? Is he healthy? Can he match what he did last year?

There goes the Louisville Regional. Man, our coach throwing in the towel a week before the season starts. This blows. OOC games don’t mean anything. Yay, make sure we peak during SEC play. So exciting.

Until Oscar is back fully healthy, I think everyone including myself is a little nervous. Without him, All bets for a dream season are off and I hope Cal is not hiding more to this injury.

I think this is Cal saying "look, without Oscar we may struggle at times (I mean he is the reigning NPOY), and until I see him on the court being Oscar, I'm going to be cautious about this team". "And knowing wins in March and April mean infinitely more than wins in Nov and Dec, I may just be very conservative about bringing him back in slowly".

You gotta love the Cal Cult. The guy has been getting his *** handed to him and making a fool of our basketball program and all a few of you can do is constantly go to his defense.

You damn right people are whining. And you damn Right it’s going to continue until he prioritizes this program and wins to the level expected of a Kentucky basketball coach. I don’t care how his sac tastes, I care how winning tastes. You should try it.

Be a UK fan for once, have some friggin pride in this program and stop making excuses for our downfall because Calipari’s cologne has suffocated your ability to think straight.

Damn losers.

JMHO but I think everyone can temper expectations without Cal telling us to if Oscar isn't playing. Pretty sure that is a no brainier.

2 Things that are a given each year

Cal making excuses for mediocrity
Cal doing the absolute least with the most talent in the country
This is isn’t the most talented team in the country, he has a Villanova or tubby smith type team and he can’t coach this type of
Team because they can’t rely on athleticism, he would actually have to draw and scheme plays to get these players open, which he is not good at

But but he has the most players on NBA rosters, that should be more important than anything, is what some people say

What a strange video...
100% my feelings... I just don't understand the point of the video? I must say, I feel a little discouraged by it. We're all here to enjoy the ride, but we're all expecting to NOT have the usual early bumps in the road because of the pieces we do have. Hoping it's not injury concerns that drag out.

Odd video for sure. Makes me wonder if there's infighting going on or what.

This team has all the pieces for an amazing season. With the returners we have should be good out of the gate...

Could of, should of, would of....

This video is a joke. No reason to do it and someone/anyone who has his ear needs to tell him to quit doing this crap. This isn't coming off the success he had early in his tenure. Read a room a bit. This wasn't going to go over well nor should it.

He's got a team built to contend, make Final Four and have a shot at #9. There's nothing Kentucky lacks when looking across the sport. Maybe he needs to adapt to how the personnel is best suited to play if he's this concerned this early in the season. I know one thing that performance Sunday where he allowed a friend to come in and just goon a game up didn't excite anyone.

When you crap the bed in NCAA's off worst year in school history, you can't be afforded this type of nonsense. Lace them up and get after it. If you are concerned about playing rotation, play faster and press so more guys get to play. If you want to play solid 8, do it. But this isn't what anyone wants to hear, specifically this week when a lot of the UK fans are furious with FB program's performance against a rival and same rival who has been winning far too much against the basketball program as well.

People are excited for the season and don't want that lowered. Especially when you are trying to sell tickets and get Rupp filled again. Good lord the PR at this school is an abomination right now.

Coaches fight to get this job....and with it comes the expectations that aren't realistic but it's what comes with the brand. Embrace it!

Man - I cannot stand to hear this guy talk anymore... so many rambling words - so little said. Basically a negative forecast with lots of built in excuses and "If's". Also - a hardy "Don't ***** at me early - if at all - just shut-up from the jump" ie "let me coach".

As someone else previously said - a completely unnecessary post UNLESS you are already hedging and making preemptive excuses...

"and you guys know I'm honest".... lol - that is just like a politician. Honest about what? Sharpe? injuries? What?

Sheesh.

I wish there was a puke emoji reactiom, that’s how hearing him speak makes me feel.
Okay fans. We won’t be near as good as we could and should be. But enjoy the ride and getting beat in big games. We will then have a great win or two in January and February. Then I can’t stop what happens in March.

Big blue nation, let’s ride

I have been thinking this for a while. Makes sense. Offense is going to take time. Still not convinced we have enough quality shooters.
We have enough quality shooters compared to most Cal teams. This isn’t the roster to be downplaying. We have the pieces, if someone isn’t performing and someone like Thiero sits the bench that’s when I see problems.

But you know they won't. This is alarming to hear from Cal, but at the same time we haven't played a game yet and the reigning national POY is banged up (so is our starting PG). That likely means we're going to be in some battles early, as any team would be, until they are both 100%.

What these players better do is BEGIN to shut up and dribble because if we don’t get to winning soon and to our standard they might be sent packing too. Enough of the nonsense. Win ******* basketball games or get out of Rupp’s seat. That’s where we are.

We dont have anyone that can take someone off the dribble AND finish. The lack of creating good offense is what scares me and returning to the stagnant dribble the ball until 10 on shot clock before anyone moves.
Wallace should be able to take somebody off the dribble, he did in high school. If the number 4 overall player can’t then idk who can. I think it’s a scheme issue more than anything because look at TyTy, I know he was hurt but at the end of the year he couldn’t beat anyone, his first league games he’s driving by and finishing like it was a D2 squad.

The bar's been lowered for years. Scrambling to put together a team of frosh and transfers from lower programs after mass-exodus doesn't work. No cohesion. Limited to no triple-threat offensive players. No offensive coaching. Not utilizing length and athleticism on defense, whittling down to only 6 or 7 players playing. Rinse, repeat.
