Not gonna feel sorry for a guy making 8-10 mil a year. He likes to run his mouth. Maybe he should learn to shut up once in a while.
I don’t feel sorry for him. That’s not the intention of my post. It is what it is....that’s all.

How about they keep politics out of it? March, dance, cry or whatever you want on your own time. Don't do it in uniform as a rep for the University.Whether they are right or wrong, the players feel a certain way, and they are the ones who play the game. It's a tricky subject. You can't alienate the vast majority of highschool basketball players and still expect them to come play here.
I'm just trying to envision the type of team we'd field, if our coach and university actually listened to some of these fans, and came down on players for this, not standing by them.. by 2024 it would be a team full of Berts and Tanners and we'd wind up being ranked around 325th.
You can't have it both ways. You can't demand the players to have the same viewpoint as you and turn around and expect there to be enough talent to be a top10 team. That will never happen. Maybe 70 years ago. Not now. If you think anything more than 5% of the top500 players gives a **** about your politics, as a fan in the stands, and is going to do what you want.. you're mistaken.. and you might as well just give up on sports as a whole. We're not going back to the 50's.
It isnt going to heal.
I don’t disagree but the thing that never gets covered is hundreds of millions of Americans go about their lives every day and get along really well with each other.
Well we used to , up until a couple years ago when democrats decided to put hatred of a guy above love of country . Fire away , dont care . Today , In Jan 2021 , hell no we dont along. Its a tinder box folks.
Of all the things to be focused on the team uses their energy for a protest? If you’re winning it makes things like this easier. When you are absolutely terrible and get blown out at home and are 4-6 probably not the best idea. They need to focus on Basic fundamentals of basketball. Grade school stuff. They all knelt and then they bent over for Bama .
Sorry but both sides do it and that's the problem. Both want to pretend their side is perfect and the other is evil. That's why people can't just agree to disagree anymore.Well we used to , up until a couple years ago when democrats decided to put hatred of a guy above love of country . We can agree to disagree but I live in a multi cultural environment where people are living while getting along, building businesses, finding success regardless of the media narrative.
Exactly this, people are way too loyal to these so called “leaders”Sorry but both sides do it and that's the problem. Both want to pretend their side is perfect and the other is evil. That's why people can't just agree to disagree anymore.

Agree. My thoughts as well, but not stated, in my above post.Beginning to think Cal is way more dumb than I ever previously considered...
Nick Saban led his players in a BLM protest.I'm curious why the state didn't have a fit over it but I guess if you win championships nobody cares, lol. Is there another coach in the nation who has handled this whole BLM stuff worse than Calipari?
Coach at Ok. State backtracked quickly due to wearing a conservative network's t-shirt. To my knowledge nothing came of it afterward (inmates run the asylum). But I haven't heard of another coach who has stepped in it like Cal.
I STAND WITH , FOR AND BY MY PROGRAM, ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WILL ! I look at you as a temporary employee coach Cal .That is all .
I don’t think this is really true. This is a man who raised a cool million for Haiti over the course of a weekend in his younger days.once his players approached him and asked for his permission to let them kneel he didn’t have many choices. He could only say: yes, no, or wait.

I just now, an hour or two later, caught that comment in his tweet.it’s obviously how he views us. Temporary fans.
What was he reasonably supposed to do? Tell his players they can’t kneel and express the frustration they feel with how they are treated by the society in the country in which they live? Yes, he could have done that he is the coach and has the final authority in the situation. But if he does that then our recruiting will fall off a cliff and recruiting African Americans to come live in an environment where they are told to “just shut up and dribble” becomes immensely more difficult. Almost every business tries to cater to it’s clientele so I can understand a coach catering to his players and his future players. Politics is sooooo toxic in this country right now and I wish that a situation hadn’t arisen that injected politics into sports. But it did happen and he was approached by his players and put between a rock and a hard place and he decided to back his players and his future players.

A younger and hungrier Cal would have gone with the fourth option: yes but.
Yes but now is the hour to unite this great state not divide it. Then have them do some well-calculated community service—or hold a fundraiser dedicated to their team vision and split the money between victims and training programs to make police both gentler and safer. Give a speech about it next home game. Talk about what love could do for this country and play the anthem after it. People would have cried. He’d have had the boosters falling in love with both him and his kids. And the kids would have actually helped their cause—now they’ve only had a wet dream about helping, and hurt the program to boot.
I don’t pretend to be the equal of what the man used to be. Ten-years-younger Cal would have thought of that or better in 30 seconds.
First of all, no coach could openly be on the right. that is all.So UK basketball is now hostage to the mob? What if Cal was on the right and the players banded together and said we’re not going to go out and play until Cal apologizes for being a white supremacist racist. How would that have played.
They tried to get the OSU football coach fired for wearing an OAN sweatshirt while on vacation.
I think the players SHOULD refuse to play again until there is a vetting of all SEC functionaries and any who supported Trump fired. And furthermore all UK home fans should be investigated and any Trump supporters should not be allowed in the arena ever again and must lose their season tickets.
There’s no end to this ********. OTOH Fans should get together and cancel all season tickets and donations until every UK administrator and professor who didn’t publicly speak out against all the burning, looting, and murder over the summer be fired.
I mean, anyone who says it’s about anything else is full of **** or not a fan.Win basketball games at an extremely high clip and compete for national titles or GTFO.
Trump got 75,000,000 votes.John Calipari is the Donald Trump of college basketball.
I wouldn’t call it a mob...but if your livelihood is dependent on the recruitment of 17-22 year old African American men then yeah you are forced to be sensitive to the issues that they feel effect them or risk them going to play for a different coach. So UK basketball is now hostage to the mob? What if Cal was on the right and the players banded together and said we’re not going to go out and play until Cal apologizes for being a white supremacist racist. How would that have played.

He's a Duke guy so I expected it.also I'll add this
as much crap as I'm giving Calipari, F that reporter for trying to stir up crap in our program. Self serving POS.
UK fans can talk about whats good and bad for our coach, but some trynabewoke reporter who isn't even on a real website can KMA
I think it was Jefferson that said that the roots of democracy must occasionally be nourished by the blood of patriots. The storming of our capitol was indeed a very sad scary thing to behold.. but after a yearful of antifa/blm riots, burning, and looting bs.. did they not expect blowback from the other side? There is a lot of anger and pent up frustration out there. As a student of history and our civil war.. I've often wondered how emotions could became so passionate as to dissolve friendships and split families into warring factions.. now I understand. And even that unity did not hold up for long. Now we have an elected Representative from Minnesota that describes 9-11 as “some people did some things”. We are watching the demise of our country from self-inflicted wounds.
Cal got 75,000,000 dollars from UK fans. Does that count?Trump got 75,000,000 votes.
This isn’t the proper forum for a protracted debate on American Social issues but I’m respectfully curious do you think there is systematic racism in any area of American life? Criminal Justice, banking or housing sectors? The whole "kneeling" thing began from the false premise that there is systemic racism in every nook and corner of America. There is not. Somehow, someway it has become "racist" or "bigoted" to even disagree with the claim. It's a agenda that must be pushed come hell or high water. It's a lie that has permeated every aspect of our society, from sports to advertising to movies and TV.
You want to be brave Cal? Stand up...and say ENOUGH!

Anyone with half a brain knows the answer.I was going to ask the same thing but wasn't sure I wanted to get into all of it lol.
