No, I never said he was going to be Dearron Fox, but he can be a damn good college pg. Arcidiacono or Alvarado (Georgia Tech pg) type player. Those guys sucked as freshmen, but through weight training, conditioning and experience, they became great college veteran point guards.

This attitude is why he is 1 game over .500 against Top 25 competition the last 5 years. Calipari's "success" is entirely dependent on having superior players.
This year I agree. For four years, I greatly disagree. Anthony Epps wasn’t a speedster, or a great shooter, or a highly ranked player. He WAS a winner and he developed over time. He was tough and he was a team guy. He was exactly what that enormously talented team needed. Pitino tried to replace him in the lineup and it failed miserably. Askew could be the same in 2-3 years if he sticks with it. I’m not saying he will, but he could. Writing him completely off at this point is just not very bright.
Please don't compare Askew to Epps. That's insulting.
Maybe with a different coach that actually has an offensive system to teach. If Cal stays, Askew will never be any better.
Agree. I'm sure he'll get better, but he has a low ceiling. At times he looks OK against mediocre guards. He just doesn't do anything particularly well.
This program needs an infusion of new blood. It starts with the head coach. There is no damn way in this world you can make any excuses for our record, all while paying 10 million a year. It's flat unacceptable, and there needs to be some repurccussions.
From what I've seen of Cal lately, I'd say Askew's ceiling is just as high as Cal's. Cal has checked out.

Im kinda on board with what you are getting at , but Epps didn’t play in this mess of an offense . I think Askew could grow into a very good player , but his lack of foot speed is always going to get him toasted on D , esp if you get a EE or a FF . And also , PGs don’t exactly stay around long at UK , your theory sounds decent , but thinking he stays 4 years and turns into Epps and not getting recruited over is not very bright . You think Cal brings. In a hot shot PG and doesn’t bench Askew ? I can’t see it .
I don‘t know. He hasn’t been killing it on the recruiting trail the last few years. At least not like he used to.
I loved it when we brought in Cal to be the HC...but it appears the game has left him in the dust. There is zero spacing in the offensive "scheme" (if you can even call it that), and coaches have figured out how to defend Cal's 1 page play book. We are not a threat inside, nor do we have anyone that can take off the dribble - so defenses can face up on us without any worry of a back door/cut/etc...

Correct , and you said Epps had The luxury of playing with great talent , experienced talent too, in a solid offense , Askew isn’t going to have that advantage
We’ve won 1 game this year with Clarke playing. 1....and people think he will help when he returns? I may only have a 12th grade education, but good lord...
Well, I’m hoping some changes are coming. Cal either needs to realize the crap he’s running isn’t working or he needs to hang it up. I won’t hold my breath on either, but I can hope.

I hate to be the one to break it to you but Cal doesn't care about our hearts. Unless you are a 5 star kid with NBA interest then Cal doesn't care.
Stop playing 2-3 bigs in our lineups and spread the floor. A crappy team, time and time again, that comes to Rupp from the dregs of D1 basketball has a guy or two who can penetrate against us. It's not because they have more talented guards, but rather because they spread the floor well. If you require a player with otherworldly speed, preternatural handles, and/or godlike insight to make your offensive system a success, it's probably time to rethink your system. Those guys don't grow on trees.
Does Cal play multiple bigs as an acknowledgement that we cannot stop penetration? If so, then Jackson shouldn't leave the floor.
We know Sarr isn't a "back to the basket" 7 footer on offense, but his defense (or help defense to be more exact) is a huge weakness on the interior. He is slow to react, and doesn't have that 7 footers mindset that "i'm going to block any shot that comes in here".
