4 titles and 12 final fours since 1958. You sure you are a UK fan? How many programs ever go to 4 final fours in a decade? what a dumbass post to prop up your boy Cal.
What the guy was demonstrating is that there have been long periods where success has been very limited. It used numbers bigger than three, so I see your difficultie. It depends on how you slice the pie. From 1959 to 1995, 36 years since you struggle with big numbers, there was 1 title. However from 56 through 98, 42 years, there were 5. To make it easy on you, we can draw 2 conclusions. One, there have been long periods with limited success. Two, titles can come in streaks. That is all you can conclude. In 36 years, Adolph Rupp, Joe Hall, Eddie Sutton and Rick Pitino managed 1 tile. So, it takes a dumbass to use this data to rip our program over the past 12 years. What we have here is a case of entitled brats that are pissed off over a lack of success our program never had in the first place. I supported our program through those long years. 10’s of thousands did. It’s funny watching a few pansies than can’t cope with a couple of average years and 1 down year. Pathetic, but funny.

I can’t help but notice the difference in Cal’s attitude toward the incoming freshman is often based upon WHEN they happen to join the team.
If they arrive in July, it’s…”these new guys are explosive!! Gonna be hard to keep them off the court.”
If they arrive in January, Cal’s attitude is, “He has so much to learn. He is far away from being ready. He may potentially be ready in a few years.” From Cal’s comments this week about Sharpe, he made it sound like Shaedon’s never even picked up a basketball before in his life—like Sharpe showed up to the first practice with his shoes untied and on the wrong feet—like he literally was tripping over the inbounds line when he walked in the court.
Cal can do or say what he wants in those regards—fair enough. That’s his prerogative. But he can’t get upset at the fans/media when that approach slowly erodes his credibility over time, and we just start rolling our eyes and calling BS when we see it.

The 'reasonable' me says Cal is lowering expectations to take pressure off him.

The 'cynical' me says Cal is managing expectations of him in the eyes of the NBA.

We're both right.
Until he is ready to put him in, he almost has to say he is not ready. Duh. And yeah say he’s not even close, even if he is close, so won’t keep getting asked every other question.

Jebus Cripes, of course it is. Cal recruited him to play basketball, he calls the shots, He can put him in if he wants to.
Like I said, not that simple. Their are recruiting ramifications. If Sharps and his people do not want him to play and Cal plays him, them it sends the message that Cal doesn’t have the players best interest in mind. That hurts him in recruiting.

A couple of average years and 1 down year will get you fired in the NBA.

I'm not sure why some think Sharpe doesn't want to play this season. His dad has said he will play if Cal wants him to.

It’s called demonstrated performance. And your hero has demonstrated sub par performance. 22-23 vs ranked teams in the last 6 years. You’re ok with that?

I understand what your saying but if his circle was that worried then why allow him to even come to UK right now..why not stay in high school...oh but its the NIL money he can get...I call BS if the kid is the number 1 ranked player in the 2022 class then get him ready to be playing.Hes here,on scholarship so do what your getting that scholarship for and play..Hes practicing so in that regard hes working with the team.Every time he touches the ball or shoots in practice hes taking away from the guys already playing so play him.Hes ready.Unless all the recruiting services have tabbed him wrong then he is ready.

Why would Cal publically say "Sharpe will play..."

Like, "hey you are #1, come get your freebie". would be dumb as ****.

Make him earn it, what's wrong with the coach speech?

You telling me the #1 player in class 2022 could not help you out in limited minutes. Im not buying it. I think Cals thinking is if he were to play him early and he does well, before Cal can coach him up, Cal wouldnt be able to take any credit.

I agree.Nobody is saying start him but give him some minutes and let him get his feet wet.If he truly is the absolute best player in the 2022 class then there is no excuse for him not to be in game shape right now.Play the kid some minutes Cal.

I'm assuming Cal wants flexibility for the situation.

I think there's probably more backlash for saying yes, he will play--and then not playing him.
As opposed to say he won't play and then playing him.

Are you ok with not getting a cookie or are you still 3 years old?

Really stupid question. No, I never want to lose a game. I'm never ok with losing. That said, I grew up.

Cal is not leaving. I have 2 choices. Be ok with it or act like a baby that hits it momma because it can't have a cookie. No, I'm not going to piss and moan and make my program look stupid and add to the idiot fans that bash it in public. You are asking will I act like a U6 fan. The answer is NO.

As far as my "hero" goes, that just is a low brow attempt to insult. It fails because....I basically don't give a rats *** what you think. I lived through 59 - 95. One title and some of the best coaches in history. We had ups and downs. I didn't start crying like a brat child. One reason, my dad would haves slapped me in the mouth for showing disrespect.

Nope you're both wrong.

Cal doesn't want Sharpe to come in and blow things up and make him look bad.

Gotta mold the square Sharpe peg into his round hole.

You're literally making stuff up. Why would Sharpe not want to play? That's idiotic and a literal fiction.

Well, if Sharpe and “his people” don’t want him to play, then stay in HS! His “people” are most likely the reason he’ll bolt to the NBA. At least that’s what the Cal Cult will say.

I know this guy is highly regarded, but if I were coach, I'd be playing a "healthy" wheeler over a freshman.

But to each their own, I guess.

I think too many people are pining too many hopes on someone who's supposed to be in HS.

Reality is if he's as good as advertised he'd be on the court ASAP. Which means the reality is he has stuff to work on and le a rn to be able to contribute. Which is totally fine and how it should be. But if you're the kind of talent that can get us to the Final Four then you're ready to go out of the gate.

Folks need to get some perspective and temper expectations
I understand this but I also understand on paper he was a better recruit than John Wall and Anthony Davis and they were ready to go from day 1. Me personally I think he’s in the category of being one of those transcendent players. I mean he was the top player in 2022 and since he came this year he’s only behind Chet and Paulo at #3 and he’s a year early! I just think a lot of Cal is just him spewing a bunch of BS like he always does. If he’s really in it to win he will play Sharpe this year and play him asap. I know it’s just my opinion but I have a great feeling about Sharpe I really do.

We may see him play then, this Georgia team would be a good test. Not overly tough but no exhibition type team.

Cry cry cry. It’s what you expect from whining haters. You’ll find I only repeat names in my posts. Except when I run into some really idiot ones. Like the pathetic guy that didn’t know Hall had won the NC in the time frame under discussion. That was sad.

There's a world of difference in playing HS ball and Division 1 . I honestly think he will play a few minutes here and there just to get his feet wet and gain a little experience. I hope he does get to play at least a little if that's what he wants, but I realize he is not going to come to campus in January and suddenly start or become a 15 minute reserve; he needs time to acclimate to his teammates as well.
