I have literally made a post about this same thing, we need an offensive coordinator. Defensively we always get it going, but the offense is what sells tickets and sells recruits on coming here. WE HAVE A BAD OFFENSIVE SYSTEM, FIX IT! And I will not speak out against Cal, I trust him as our coach. But surely he sees this needs to be fixed.

Yea cal offenses at UK have been just awful. Just stop with this nonsense people. we are missing wide open 3s if we can't make half those then it does not matter much what we do it'll look bad at times. We score enough we need better defense

"The Top 5 most efficient teams in the NBA for 2018 were Golden State, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Toronto and Charlotte. Maybe Mitch Barnhardt and Calipari can lure one of these assistants away from the NBA and to Lexington."

Sounds GREAT!!!

Most of the offensive woes boil down to PGs. We have had adequate but not elite point guards this year or last.

I said for a long time that Cal needs to get some new assistants , of course Cal is so loyal and would never get rid of a assistant.

I am definitely in the camp of fans hoping there is significant staff turnover after the season..... unfortunately I don't have any expectation that this will happen.

Agree with this. What happens with Cal now will determine a lot about his legacy.
I agree. But I don’t believe the sky is falling. Why is this team in trouble? 4 reasons. 1st, and foremost, they are not a very good perimeter defensive team. That can be corrected, but having 4 freshman guards will make it a challenging project. Camp Cal will help. 2nd, Nick Richards has been a bust recruit. This is really hurting the team. But it will result in more PT for Montgomery, so it isn’t crippling. 3rd, Quade Green was a bust recruit who left just when we needed him to suck it up and work harder. It’s a closed chapter. 4th, PJ Washington plays well in spurts but leave everything on the floor it all the time. That is correctable. If Washington had Keldon Johnson’s heart and fire, he would be the best college basketball player in the country. The bottom line is that this basketball team will be a lot better by March. But next year’s team is in real trouble unless Calipari can pull a couple of large rabbits out of his recruiting hat. The greatest concern is that top players are self-absorbed now and no longer want to accept Calipari’s recruiting pitch. Calipari is smart, and probably knows by now that he has to rethink his sales pitch. I think he can.

Does anyone believe that Cal doesnt think he is a great offensive mind? To many head coaches are control freaks. Cal better reinvent himself offensively or there will be problems.

Cal is too stubborn to accept help, he's set in his ways. That's why he still runs that old ineffective antiquated offense that he needs to "tweak" every year.

I just finished reading that article before logging in here ironically.

Its spot on. I think more than anything, fans are tired of watching ugly basketball. Year in, year out, we sit through this team finding its way in November and December all in an effort to be coheisve by February and March. Is this stuff worth the cost of the attendance? Clearly, the fans are saying no.

Many years by the end, it's a lot of fun to watch, because the 5* freshman finally gel. However it's miserable watching them fumble around like a JV team in Nov/Dec, and drop games they should win by UK's normal standard. It ticks off the fan base, because whereas before if you had a particularly stout senior class leave, you could live with dropping a big game in "the name of learning" because you knew those guys were going to be leading the team for the next few seasons. But now, these guys are dropping games, and they aren't going to be around to rectify it the following year; so we keep losing games here or there that we should otherwise win with a roster comprised of both experience and talent as we did in the past. We can't start 5 Darius Millers and get where we want to be. But also we can't start 5 Tyler Herros and get there either. We need a mix of both.

All of that is to say watching this "positionless offense" take form each year becomes less and less entertaining. I expect to have guys know how to execute a 10 second game winning drive or to call a timeout at UK. Not having that is inexcusable. This isn't the training wheels school. We expect to win, and win with style. This isn't the NBA internship school. Cal needs to get an offense together and focus on building a team for the long haul.

CMS has had several offensive coordinators and the offense hasn't changed.

If you still control the offensive approach it doesn't matter who the coordinator actually is.

I honestly don't know if it's Cal or the team I mean guys look at UK's Elite Freshman they really look like good high school players except for KJ and look at Duke's elite Freshman they look like NBA players so I don't know if we just didn't get Freshman that are just not that good. Not bashing them but it speaks for itself
