I would think Ulis is a Cal guy . Any coach that comes in will want to hire his own staff

You also know don’t you that the UK name/brand carries a lot of weight. Not to mention UK may add a big name coach too,
So if Cal leaves, I would put the odds of the current 5 recruits at:
10% 0 come
25% 1 come
35% 2 come
20% 3 come
8% 4 come
2% 5 come

If Mitch knew my guess is he’d be asked to step aside to give this team its best chance …I don’t think they’d let him be a lame duck for 2 months , and all the vitriol that comes with that around the players and staff ( who no doubt know )
The UK program holds weight with Shep, the rest leave without cal.
If so I wish he would just go on instead of mailing it in 2nd half of the season and just showing up.

Not hard for me to imagine some staff member staying. Harder to imagine them having much pull with next year’s recruiting class.
Let me re-phrase. If there’s a staff member who has enough pull to keep some of this class together and is also willing to split with Cal, we have even more problems than we know about. Which to be fair is almost certainly true.
Not going to lie, the whole coaching search/drama stuff is about as entertaining as it gets when the team sucks. Not really sure how I feel about it tbh other than it’s just surreal we’re at this point.
This kind of news 24 hours will be enough to hear something from somewhere else. Cal should be replaced after Saturday's game if this is accurate. (He should not be on the bench Saturday due to a "sudden illness")
What if Jeff Shephard and Billy Donovan are friends and Donovan wants to come and coach Reed? One can dream

I think he left (mentally and emotionally) some time ago. He hasn’t been truly putting his heart into coaching for a while now. I wish he would have left before he tarnished his name the last few seasons. Should have stuck to his original 10 year plan and left after 2019.
Any team built around Reed will be in the NIT next season.
