The game has passed coach Cal by.
Really? When did this happen?
Yes, last season was historically bad. Everyone talks about "since 2015". OK, lets look at that. '16 was decent but Skal was a bust. But we had Murray and Ulis and some great wins. Of course Murray is one of those shooters that never gets and stymies if he does.
'17 was a great team. Fox, Monk and Bam. We entered the tournament as the best team. We lost in the E8 game by 2 points. Yep, really bad team. Again, Monk was one of those shooters stymied by Cal.
'18 was a good, not great team. But JV was hurt all year. Knox played great but again, one of those shooters stymied by Cal.
'19 was a great team. Lost in the E8 in overtime to a team we had already beaten twice. Of course Cal once again didn't recruit a shooter like Herro and stymied him.
'20 started off bad, grew as a team the whole season. Probably the best defensive team in the country by tourney time. Great shooter in Quickley that Cal never recruits and stymies if he does. Are we seeing a pattern here in the hate? That team was poised for a great tourney run. But never got the chance.
'21 What can you say? Doesn't get worse. Injuries and a bad team.
'22 Very good team. Won 26 games. Earned a 2 seed. With 2 players and 8 ball boys.
It is Cal's fault that we had that team of 2 players and 8 ball boys. But the sky is not falling like the haters wish it would.
There's reason to want Cal to move on. I have my reasons to be done with Cal. But it's not on made up non basketball bogeyman issues.
