The CBS halftime crew was just asking the question of who would carry the torch for leading the coaching fraternity going forward now that coach K is retiring. Pictures of the following coaches were put up, Coach Cal, Jay Wright, Mark Few, Bill Self, Tom Izzy and I believe one other. Both Mark Few and Jay Wright were suggested as being most likely to carry the mantle as top coach. The others were mentioned as less likely contenders. Clark Kellogg even mentioned new head coach for Duke Jon Schyer as a possibility. Coach Cal was the only one to get no mention at all, even though he was shown as the coach with the most overall wins.
I will say this in Cal’s defense. Everyone knows their is jealousy and animosity towards UK basketball, which Coach Cal no doubt brings on, as a result of his ego and arrogance. Still very strange that a Hall of Fane Coach got no mention as being mentioned, as the top coach going forward while the others did.

That’s funny. You think the jealousy and animosity began with Cal? LOL. Just started watching basketball huh?

They probably didnt say it out of fear of being the laughingstocks of the Rupp Rafters message board because had anyone mentioned Cal, someone would have posted it and said how stupid they were for considering Cal being worthy of carrying that torch.

No surprise here. At the present, he's not even best in the SEC. I'm talking coaching not recruiting.

Grow a pair. It's a damn game. I can't believe we have pansies calling out of work over this.
I was gonna say — you gotta man up, dude. I worked in Indy and dealt with IU fans after we got blown out by Duke - and lost to Evansville.

Now live in TN and had to hear it from UT fans. It sucks but it is what it is.

Kellogg has always disliked UK to start with. That said both he and I liked UK making it to this Final Four🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Respect is earned, not given. Ever heard that one?
What has Cal done in the past 3 years to earn the respect of the basketball world?

With K retiring, Cal HAD an opportunity to become the face and voice of college basketball coaches.

Cal might have even started receiving some of that preferential treatment given to K by officials and seeding committees that Cal so longingly craves.

I actually think Cal and UK got a taste of that this year.

Just when the opportunity of a lifetime comes to Cal, instead of becoming the face of college basketball, he shows his a$$ on the biggest stage possible and comes off looking like anything other than the dean of college basketball coaches.

Calipari is a running joke everywhere in college basketball outside of Kentucky. We act like he’s some revered figure in CBB but no one is scared of Kentucky anymore. I don’t blame them for forgetting about him.
This .. No one cares about Ky or Cal . Its over folks .. wake the hell up . Like trying to educate liberals . Burning car lots Are " mostly peaceful protest". as the flames roar in the background ... Like living in an alternate universe where truth( success ) is fluid and not measured by any standard

there's no reason to think jon scheyer wont be successful at duke.
Based on his long track record of coaching success? He has huge shoes to fill, and I see very little chance that he does. When the coach K luster and the resultant recruiting classes wear off, we will see if he has the chops. Incestuous coach in waiting plans seldom work out.

We will need a big
We will need a wing
We will need a guard
Let’s go get them

Already has number one class for next season and 3 five star commits for 2023. There will be no drop off unless he simply can't coach.

They know he's a piss poor game coach. They know basketball and can see how his offense is horrible. I'm sure they all get a big laugh out of the fact we're paying fat Elvis 10 million a year

Kentucky has the number one class next year? I'd love to see Oscar come back. I'm upset seeing Sharpe sit all season.

CBS better hope UK fans don't become even MORE apathetic than we are now. UK Basketball has the MOST LOYAL fans in ALL of college basketball. Our games are the MOST watched and we buy the MOST college basketball related attire.

Everyone watches in March, but UK fans watch EVERY game throughout the season.

This is WHY what Cal is doing to our program is not only bad for UK it is also bad for ALL of College basketball. Perception of UK Basketball is at the LOWEST point since Cal arrived. Will all of the disrespect Cal is receiving, spur him to work harder and make the changes necessary to be successful again????

I want Cal gone yesterday, but are you high?
Scheyer is on par with my big toe in D1 coaching success.
He has the top 3 recruits coming into Duke next year. That's #1, #2 and #3. Of course Sharpe would have been #1 but he came this season and is more than likely to enter the NBA Draft before ever playing a game here.

So, next season will be another season without the very best Freshmen.

I don’t know what you mean. Calipari got a lot of respect on that half time show. The fact that he was even on the list was way more respect than he deserves.

I agree with Charles Barkley though. Mark Few has built Gonzaga into the program it is today. Before Mark Few, the only thing some people knew about Gonzaga is that John Stockton played there. I also love how Barkley mentioned some names and couldn’t remember who else was on the list. He forgot about Calipari.

He’ll be able to get any player he wants. So that’s a hell of a start

Well I suspect most of that class is due to the non-stop espn Coach K love fest and his success, than the expectations that Scheyer will be the next Wooden. He only has to be a mediocre coach for that shine to eventually wear off that program.
