KAT

Cal already has evidence on super team and #1 pick. Not to mention booker, who didn't start become lottery.

He has 4 #1 picks in his career. He can genuinely say come to UK and be #1 pick, don't worry we know how. Look at Kat who wasn't the favored to be #1 pick

I think part of that is Cal's absurd ability to see potential in recruits. KAT, SGA, Ulis, etc. The guy just knows how to pick him.

Hard to say if KAT *Couldn't* have been a #1 pick anywhere else. I will say, there were times where our guards overlooked him, like in the Wisconsin game. It didn't hurt his stock, obviously.

But I guess there's pros and cons to going to either an empty talent-lacking school or one with a ton of talent that you can work with. Cade might very well be better suited for a team with wings around him.

Then Kentucky should say to Cade, "Google Ben Simmons and 'most disappointing player in the NBA'" or "Ben Simmons, Overrated."

Simmons clearly hurt himself and his early NBA career playing street ball at LSU. He's the poster child for NOT doing that to a really ambitious phenom.
I agree . I'll say this about Simmons though . I don't think that kid cares one bit if he's underperforming. I don't think he would care at all if he was letting teammates and fans down . I think he realized his dreams when he was drafted and became rich . I think that's all he cared about.

His performance in the SEC Tournament was an absolute disgrace, and a forecast of how much heart he was going to display in the NBA.

Or how about this. We hire his brother for 2020 season ???

Why not at this point. It's not like anyone really cares at this point. What can OKState be paying him? A few hundred K? I say we up his salary by 50k.

I'm sure it will become an ESPN headline real fast, but who cares. Until this sort of behavior is stopped, lets do it ourselves.

What you thinking his decision will be?

I used to think he was a certifiable lock to OSU, but I am starting to think this one might go down like the John Wall recruitment where many thought he was Baylor bound because of Clifton.

If he waits until the Spring, I think we get him.

The only headline I'd care about is the one that reads: "UK wins the 2021 national championship", which I think we would actually get if CC joins Clarke.

ESPN could imply we went down the dark alley to get Cunningham, and I'd take it as a compliment. Pay the kid's brother $100,000 to join our staff in some capacity and buy CC a horsefarm. He's worth every penny and we'd get him at a bargain for any package that was worth less than $500,000.

The one difference with Cunningham's recruitment compared to Simmons/Fultz is he's on record saying he wants to be able to compete for a National Championship. If you are serious about that, and he moved from HS in Texas to Montverde for that opportunity, then he truly could be open. Now words tend to change/don't mean as much with some people, so we'll see how true he meant it.

Told someone here a while back I'd heard a lot of UNC noise month ago and if he did go with Oklahoma State, he may not sign anything and see how they do just to protect himself. Just have to see how things play out, but Kentucky is in a great position in terms of being able to target specific guys pretty hard now they have 4 players locked in for '20 class.

Add Cade and Kuminga damn the rest.
Best class of all time.
And a bunch of killer dogs that would
Destroy college hoops next year.
If we add Cunningham and Kuminga and then stop recruiting, there would be about 8-9 players on that team. You need 10 scholarship players to run a competitive full speed practice without putting a walk-on on a scholarship player. This will be a big UK recruiting class.

My dream class at this point:

PG. Cade Cunningham
SG. BJ Boston
SF. Terrence Clark
PF. Jonathan Kuminga
C. Greg Brown
6. Fletcher
7. Ware
8. 1 more big (Todd, Omoruyi, or Banchero)

That class is absolutely sick. You are talking about three future all-star kind of players.

Wish it happened. We ain't that lucky. :joy::joy::joy:

but he has had many players who he didn't get, and those same players growth is far less than comparable. KAT was #5 recruit in composite ranking...

Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay, Stanley Johnson, Cliff Alexander...these guys were ahead of KAT...what happened to them? If i am not mistaken, Stanley johnson was recruited by Cal, so was Mudiay. So, had Cal gotten them, what would have been the story then? Booker (#7) is a freaking one of the top scorer in the NBA....we know, he sucks at defense...but dude was ranked at #22....

Oh yeah how about Mo Bamba? Cal missed him too. What happened? #31ranked with SGA.

Of course not all players for Cal was a success, but his overall consistency is insanely good.

DUH, that's where the 8/9 comes from.......adding 2 recruits makes only 6 +(3) =9

It probably won't happen, but we've had one class like it before (the twins/Randle class). We had the #1 PG, SG, PF, and #1/#2 Center plus the 3rd ranked SF who was also in the top 10 of the class rankings. We got 5/10 players, and we almost got 3 out of the top 5 players plus 6 of the top 10 if Wiggins had been smart.

People talk about this class being Cal's best ever, and he would probably just about have to land the class I listed, or maybe minus one of the players I listed (at least for it to be in consideration by the numbers). One difference in this class tho, I think Kuminga, Clarke, and Cunningham would all be legitimate stars. I thought the Harrison twins would be that in 2014, but Randle was the only player that season that was a truly elite player.

yeah, that class was a bit overrated because most of them ended up being not much. Twins were big but they don't have other NBA level caliber skillsets. (in fact that class kind of sucked, Embiid was the best)

Cade, Kuminga, and Clarke...ouchie...that doesn't even count Brown and Boston...

while all of them still lack skillset of top NBA players..physically, holy ****. They are big, long, AND athletic.

also, i love Randle and he was monster at collegiate level but in NBA he isn't going to be an all-star. Of course if he continuously improve, maybe he can.

With Cade, Kuminga, and Clarke...(its hard to predict the future) I feel like all three will at least once be an all-star.

That’s the thing. 2014 was an incredible class numbers-wise, but that was a preposterously weak class. The twins and Dakari aren’t top 10 recruits in any other class. I feel pretty strongly that those 3 guys you listed are legit. If Cal can land 1 of the 2, to go with Clarke and the other guys coming in and back, that’ll make for a potentially incredible team.

We would have had to hire his brother last year. I am pretty sure you can't hire his brother the same year the player enrolls!

Well we lost green during all this recruiting. Hmmm cade taking that photo. Someone remind me of a player in this type photo. That we didnt land. Wiseman? Mcdaniels? How many others? But do all recruited players get this photo type? Just wondering. Common practice?
